Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress

Chapter 429 205: Defeated in a Single Blow

  • Next Chapter

Ten Skeleton Knights mounted their Soul Warhorses and leisurely rode in the direction of the Dogman Tribe.

The Dogmen, who had been watching the battlefield, saw the riders heading their way and immediately panicked. From a distance, wreathed in flames, they looked like Human cavalry.

"Clan Leader, the Lizardmen are dead! Let's run!"

"Yeah, let's run! These Knights are even stronger than the Lizardmen."

Faced with the clamor of the Dogmen, the old Clan Leader gave a bitter smile. "You said it yourselves—they're stronger than the Lizardmen, and even faster. How could we possibly escape?"

The Dogmen grew displeased upon hearing the old Clan Leader's words. 'Just a moment ago, you told us to fight to the death to protect our women and children, and we agreed! Now the Lizardmen are all dead, and you're telling us not to run? Isn't that just asking to die?' one of them said hurriedly. "But we can't just stay here and wait to die!"

The old Clan Leader sighed and continued, "We can't escape. Besides, if we run now, what will they think? What if they mistake us for being with the Lizardmen? Then we'll truly be doomed."

This...

The Dogmen fell silent. That was indeed a possibility, and they didn't dare to gamble. They hadn't been able to escape the Lizardmen; if this even stronger cavalry decided to annihilate them, they wouldn't stand a chance.

'But if we don't run, are we just supposed to stand here and watch them approach?'

Seeing his tribesmen standing around looking dumbfounded, the old Clan Leader raised his hand and angrily whacked one on the head. "You're all truly stupid!" he scolded irritably. "Stupider than actual dogs! Can't you use those dog brains of yours to think? If they meant us harm, why wouldn't they have charged over to kill us first, before going to deal with the Lizardman corpses?"

Huh?

Huh?!

Huhhh!

'That makes sense! Since they didn't charge over to kill us right away, it means we still have a chance.'

'The Clan Leader is on another level. We really are stupid; we never would have thought of that.'

While the old Clan Leader was scolding his people, the Skeleton Knights had already ridden their Soul Warhorses close to the Tribe.

From a distance, they were hard to make out. The Dogmen could only see their general silhouettes by the light of the moon and the flames. But as the riders drew near, they saw them clearly.

Holy shit!

Undead!

They instantly understood why the Dragon Lizard Knights had been defeated so easily. Their saviors weren't Human at all, but Undead.

'Some time ago, the Alliance Army was defeated by the Undead. That means the Lizardmen themselves are no match for them. So isn't this outcome perfectly normal?'

The thought flashed through the Dogmen's minds, immediately followed by terror.

They had never encountered the Undead before, only heard legends and rumors. Their knowledge of them was limited to a single, terrifying point: "The Undead are the enemy of all living creatures, and they will kill every last one."

They were screwed.

'We just escaped the Lizardmen, only to find out we were saved by the Undead. Isn't this just out of the frying pan and into the fire? Life is impossible!'

Forget the other Dogmen; even the old Clan Leader's hands and feet were ice-cold, his tail tucked between his legs as he trembled uncontrollably.

'Facing the Dragon Lizard Knights, he could still muster his courage. After all, the Lizardmen were a malignant Race he had dealt with before. They were powerful, but at least they were a known quantity. At worst, it would just be a fight to the death.'

'But the Undead? They were a legendary Race, Death itself, Death incarnate. Even in death, they wouldn't let you go. If you died at the hands of the Undead, you could never join your Ancestors. This was so much more terrifying than dying to the Lizardmen.'

One of the Dogmen looked to the old Clan Leader, waiting for an order, only to find his eyes vacant and his expression dazed. He was muttering to himself, "How can it be the Undead? How can it be the Undead... We're doomed, aren't we..."

With the old Clan Leader in this state, the other Dogmen panicked even more. Their backbone was gone.

The Skeleton Knights, however, were oblivious to this. They rode their Soul Warhorses into the Tribe, weaving around the scattered debris. Following the aura of life, they came to a stop before the Dogmen, looking down from their high vantage point at the terrified, trembling creatures huddled in a tight group.
