Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress
Chapter 411 - 199: Dragon Lizard Race 3
Even Natives couldn’t possibly know every Race in the Otherworld. Li Ziyu had never heard of the Dragon Lizard Race, but Tas Tuling might. After all, not only was he a Native, but he also possessed a Shaman bloodline and knew far more than others.
At Li Ziyu’s glance, Tas Tuling closed his eyes and thought for a moment before speaking. "They are a group of Beastmen with diluted Dragon Blood. They call themselves Half-Dragon People, but in reality, they are a branch of the Lizardmen."
’Oh, that explains it. Lizardmen... the scourge of the Wasteland. It’s completely understandable that they’d launch a sneak attack. Not surprising at all.’
After Tas Tuling finished speaking, he paused and then added, "The strange thing is, the Dragon Lizard Race doesn’t seem to live in our Wasteland. And their numbers aren’t supposed to be very large."
Zaliki, who was nearby, heard this and quickly shook his head. "No, their numbers are huge—so many that we stood no chance of resisting."
Li Ziyu turned to look at the few hundred Snake-men following behind them and said softly, "Were there two thousand of them?"
Zaliki shook his head again. "No, not two thousand. Tens of thousands. And that was just the members of the Dragon Lizard Race that ambushed us. I saw more of them behind the main force—there must have been tens, or even hundreds of thousands."
"Impossible!" Tas Tuling exclaimed, his eyes wide. "There’s no way a Dragon Lizard Tribe could be that massive. Especially in this Wasteland—a Dragon Lizard Tribe of that size could never exist!"
Li Ziyu frowned. He also felt it was unlikely. A Tribe of tens, or even hundreds of thousands, would absolutely be a large-scale Tribe in this region. And since the Dragon Lizard Race is related to the Lizardmen, the Lizardmen would have certainly tried to recruit them during the last great war. Yet, there were clearly no Dragon Lizard People corpses among the enemy dead after the fighting.
’Something’s off about these Dragon Lizard People. They either fought their way here from another region, or they’re the forces of a Mobile Fortress Lord.’
’I just hope it’s not a Transmigrator Lord. A Transmigrator Lord with an army over a hundred thousand strong would not be easy to deal with.’
He looked at Tas Tuling and asked, "Your knowledge might be outdated. Is it possible a Dragon Lizard Tribe developed and grew to this size?"
Tas Tuling shook his head, his voice firm. "Impossible!"
Li Ziyu frowned and asked, "Why?"
Tas Tuling took a deep breath, his brow furrowed as he explained seriously, "This region is completely unsuitable for the Dragon Lizard Race to survive. Although they only have diluted Dragon Blood, it’s still Dragon Blood. They need massive amounts of food to replenish their Energy, and our Wasteland is too barren to supply that much."
"Furthermore, it would be nearly impossible for a Dragon Lizard Tribe of over a hundred thousand to exist. The Dragon Blood makes the Dragon Lizard People powerful, but it also lowers the Race’s fertility. Their young are rarely born successfully. Stillborn eggs are a common and unsolvable problem, all because of their bloodline."
Forget over a hundred thousand members—even a Dragon Lizard Tribe of a few hundred would be formidable. Here in this Wasteland, they could overwhelm a medium-sized Tribe. In all of Tas Tuling’s inherited lore, a Dragon Lizard Tribe of even ten thousand has never been recorded in the Wasteland.
"Also, the actions of the Dragon Lizard Race that Zaliki encountered go against their nature. The Dragon Lizard People call themselves Half-Dragon People and are proud of their bloodline. This pride means the Dragon Lizard Race scorns the use of schemes and trickery. If they want to attack a Tribe, they will always notify the Tribe first before launching their assault. They do not engage in sneak attacks, especially not against a Tribe weaker than themselves."
This statement made Zaliki blush. Yep, they were, without a doubt, that "weaker Tribe."
