Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress
Chapter 410 199: Dragon Lizard Race (2)
Zaliki looked at the smiling Tas Tuling, nodded, and said softly, "It's settled. I want to see the Master of the Undead."
Tas Tuling glanced toward the Snake-men, then beckoned to Zaliki. "Alright, follow me."
He had been standing not far from the Snake-men, so he'd heard every word of Zaliki's conversation with them and knew what they had decided.
Zaliki took a deep breath and followed Tas Tuling toward the Undead.
The Undead parted to form a path, allowing Tas Tuling and Zaliki to approach Li Ziyu. By now, Li Ziyu was growing impatient; he wanted to get back to unlocking his technology.
"So, what's the word?" Li Ziyu asked, sitting languidly with a weary, sleepy expression.
Upon hearing Li Ziyu's question, Zaliki immediately prostrated himself, pressing his face to the ground. He declared loudly, "I, Zaliki of the Viper Lineage, leading the Snake-men of the Senunet Tribe, wish to pledge my allegiance to the Master of the Undead."
"Hahaha..." Li Ziyu laughed as he stood and helped Zaliki to his feet. "Excellent. You've made the right choice."
As he spoke, he redeemed a contract from his system and handed it to Zaliki. "Sign the contract."
Zaliki swallowed hard and examined the contract, reading through its contents clause by clause.
The contract Li Ziyu gave him was slightly stricter than the one given to the Tabu Tribe. In Zaliki's eyes, however, the terms were still quite lenient—certainly more so than most contracts in the Wasteland. After reading it, he immediately signed, becoming one of Li Ziyu's vassal Races and successfully joining the ranks of the Undead.
"Welcome to the fold, Zaliki. You won't regret today's decision. In fact, this might be the best decision you ever make," Tas Tuling said, stepping forward to offer his congratulations.
Having lived with the Undead for so long, Tas Tuling felt that joining the Undead Race and becoming Li Ziyu's vassal Race was the best decision their leader, Mumu, had ever made.
Just look at the Tabu Tribe now. Its people were no longer sallow, emaciated, and constantly worried. With the Wraith Mountain Range at their back, they could venture into the mountains under the protection of the Undead to gather resources. Although the Death Qi prevented them from staying for long, it was more than enough. The Wraith Mountain Range was a far cry from the Wasteland, and its resources were plentiful.
They had food to eat, water to drink, and the guidance of their Ancestors. They had grown stronger, and their faces now bore smiles of happiness and contentment. The children could play without a care, running freely on the Bone Plate Platform. And with the Ancestors' teachings, there was no doubt that when they grew up, they would become exceptional Warriors and live even better lives than their parents.
What did the people of the Wasteland Tribes hope for most? For their Tribe to prosper and grow, of course. The Undead had given them everything, making all their dreams feel attainable.
'If Zaliki had chosen to leave, I would've cursed him behind his back,' Tas Tuling thought. 'An ignorant, short-sighted fool who doesn't understand anything.'
Fortunately, Zaliki made the right choice.
Zaliki looked at Tas Tuling and forced a smile. "I hope so."
Tas Tuling was displeased by this. He shook his head and said to Zaliki in earnest, "I'm telling you the truth. You don't feel it yet, but once you've lived among the Undead as we have, you'll understand. Being accepted by them is a blessing. You'll be incredibly grateful for the choice you made today."
Just as Zaliki was about to say something else, Li Ziyu cut him off. "That's enough. We've been out here long enough. Zaliki, gather your people and come with me."
Since Li Ziyu had spoken, Zaliki had no choice but to obey. He quickly complied, turning to call his people and tell them to follow.
Li Ziyu, Zaliki, and Tas Tuling walked abreast at the front. The Undead and the Minotaur followed them, and bringing up the rear were the Snake-men, their hearts filled with anxiety for the future.
"So, how did your Senunet Tribe get attacked?" Li Ziyu asked out of curiosity. The walk was boring, and he figured a little conversation would help pass the time.
The question clearly stirred painful memories for Zaliki. Having one's Tribe scattered was a traumatic experience for any of the Natives, and to speak of it so casually could easily provoke anger.
But Zaliki's people were now a vassal Race of Li Ziyu. As a newly inducted vassal, he knew he had to answer without reservation and make a good impression on his new master.
Since Li Ziyu wanted to know, Zaliki didn't hide anything. He sighed. "I don't know why they attacked us. The day was just like any other. I had just gotten up and was preparing to gather supplies when they suddenly charged. They were too strong. Fortunately, their goal wasn't to kill, but to plunder our Tribe. Otherwise, none of us would have escaped alive."
'So, it was a sneak attack,' Li Ziyu thought, nodding in understanding. It was a common tactic in the Wasteland. He then asked, "What Race were they?"
Zaliki frowned slightly, a hint of puzzlement in his voice. "They seemed to be from the Dragon Lizard Race, but I've never seen them before. They aren't a Race that operates in our territory, and none of the neighboring Tribes are part of the Dragon Lizard Race."
'The Dragon Lizard Race? What kind of Race is that?'
Li Ziyu scratched his head and gave Tas Tuling a blank look. The Otherworld was home to a vast number of non-human Races, and each Race had its own branches. His Skeleton Undead Race, for instance, was a branch of the greater Undead Race. The term "Undead Race" was an umbrella category. The Ghosts who resided in Soul Coffins also belonged to the Undead Race—they were known as the Ghost Race.
