Li Ziyu had previously unlocked the Longbow and Short Bow. After upgrading to the Weapon Research Room, the Crossbow became available. The Crossbow’s range was similar to the Short Bow’s—relatively short—but its rate of fire couldn’t compare. Skeleton Short Bowmen didn’t have to worry about muscle fatigue, so their rate of fire was absurdly high; rapid fire was a basic maneuver for them.

The Crossbow’s advantages were its consistent range, rate of fire, and power. It was inexpensive and could be equipped by existing Skeleton Undead, eliminating the need to summon a separate soldier species. This allowed for the rapid assembly of a large ranged army.

High Level Undead were indispensable on the battlefield, but the combat strength of the Skeleton Undead was the true foundation that decided the course of a battle!

After unlocking the Skeleton Hand Crossbow, Li Ziyu also unlocked the Bone Crossbow Arrow and the Crossbow Quiver. Each quiver could hold 20 Crossbow Arrows, saving time on reloading and allowing for continuous fire.

After this flurry of activity, Li Ziyu had unlocked a whole new swathe of soldier species. Among them were two core units of the Skeleton Undead System: the Black Knight and the Skeleton Knight.

Throughout the history of the Skeleton Undead, these two soldier species were legendary. The Undead Race owed much of its fearsome reputation to their contributions. They were the Nobility among the Skeleton Undead Race, the elite of the elite Warriors!

’Holy cow, I’ve unlocked some seriously badass High Level Soldier Species!’

Just look at the required resources. A Black Knight requires 10,000 units of Soul Energy, and a Skeleton Knight needs a whopping 15,000. It was clear just how tyrannical these two soldier species must be.
