Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress

Chapter 362 183: Central Intelligence (Part 2)

It was perfectly understandable that the Transmigrators in the Central Zone had united to declare war on the Native Strong Clans. There had been rumors before that the Strong Clans in the Central Zone were hunting down Transmigrators everywhere to study their Mobile Fortresses. This posed a great crisis for the Transmigrators, as the Natives were not friendly to them in the slightest.

In order to develop and survive, they certainly couldn't just let the other side do as they pleased. The conflict ultimately escalating into a full-blown war was likely due to this reason.

Batubohe must have been a member of the Transmigrator Alliance Army, and likely on the losing side. The only question was whether he had fled after a personal defeat, or if the entire Alliance Army had been defeated.

"The Transmigrator Alliance Army lost, and it was a crushing defeat. Many Mobile Fortresses were shattered right on the battlefield. It's said that about a hundred Transmigrators, big and small, participated in the war, but only twenty-some powerful ones managed to escape," Zhang Peng relayed the outcome of the Transmigrator Alliance Army from the battle report to Li Ziyu.

'A hundred Transmigrators?'

Li Ziyu's eyes widened. He could hardly imagine what a formidable power that was. Including himself, there were only three Transmigrators in his group, and they were already able to take on the Cancerous Tumor Alliance Army. So, what kind of enemy was an Alliance Army of over a hundred Transmigrators facing?

And yet, not only had they failed to easily take down the Strong Clan, but they had also been defeated. Dozens of Transmigrators had even died directly on the battlefield.

'Just what is the state of the Strong Clans in the Central Zone?!'

He recalled when he first met Batubohe. Batubohe had told him that he hadn't come looking for trouble, but for an Ally. Li Ziyu finally understood what Batubohe had meant.

The Otherworld was far from as simple as he had imagined. Transmigrators weren't like the ones in novels, blessed with a protagonist's Aura. Their enemies weren't just each other; the Otherworld was home to many powerful Races. The time those Races had spent developing far exceeded imagination and was simply incomparable to what the current Transmigrators had.

It was like the comparison between a top student and a rich heir back in his old world. There was actually a lot of truth to the saying: "You studied hard for ten years, but what makes you think you can surpass the accumulated efforts of my last three generations?"

The development Speed of Transmigrators was indeed frighteningly fast, but time was a factor. Even the first batch of Transmigrators had been in this world for less than a year. On what grounds could they assume that Races that had been developing for hundreds or even thousands of years were nothing?

'No matter how great their potential, they still need time and resources. It's impossible to erase the long history of development of the Otherworld's Natives in less than a year. That's just not reasonable!'

Zhang Peng's words calmed Li Ziyu down and made him think carefully. He had originally been pondering how to venture out as soon as possible, but now it seemed he had been too naive. If he rushed out without sufficient preparation, he would likely meet a fate of no return.

Being secluded in a corner of the world had its pros and cons. The downside was the scarcity of resources and slower development; the upside was fewer enemies, providing more stability and safety.

If he had appeared in the Central Zone right after transmigrating, he probably wouldn't have been able to develop to his current state!

"I understand." Li Ziyu nodded at Zhang Peng with a solemn expression. Whatever Zhang Peng's intention was in sharing this intelligence, it had at least served as a wake-up call for him.

If he wanted to leave this place for the wider world, he still needed to make many preparations. Intelligence was one of them, and Batubohe was the best candidate to provide it. 'Looks like I need to strengthen my connection with this old brother.'

He chatted with Liu Xingxing and Zhang Peng for a while longer, and then the two of them left.

Night was the time for the Undead to be active. Li Ziyu wasn't the least bit sleepy; in fact, he was full of Spirit. The Great Tomb still needed time to be built, so with nothing else to do, he decided to start researching how to upgrade his fortress.

Li Ziyu's mobile fortress was currently Level 3, which was the highest Level for a mobile fortress. The next upgrade would require a breakthrough.

The next level after a mobile fortress was a Fortress. To ascend to a Fortress, he needed 100,000 units of Skeleton, 50,000 units of Soul Energy, 50,000 units of Stone, and 50,000 units of Wood. These four basic materials were easy for Li Ziyu to acquire; they were no problem at all. However, besides these basic materials, he also needed 100 units of Soul Crystal, 100 units of Sacrificial Bone, 3,000 units of Blood Crystal, and 1,000 units of Death Breath Crystal.

Li Ziyu scratched his head as he looked at the list of materials. 'What the hell is all this stuff? They all sound so bizarre. These are all things I never use, things I've never even heard of. Where am I supposed to get them? This is insane.'

'Well, I might as well check the Warehouse. There were a lot of strange items among the spoils from the Alliance Army. Some things were just tossed into the Warehouse because I didn't know what they were for at the time. Maybe some of the required upgrade materials are in there.'

Li Ziyu opened the Warehouse interface and started rummaging through it. And what do you know, he actually found some. Among the strange spoils of war were Sacrificial Bones and Blood Crystals.

The Sacrificial Bones had been obtained from the Alliance Army's Priests. According to the system's Introduction, these bones were the Skeletons of a Tribe's Ancestors. After being worshiped over a long period of time, a special Energy would gather within them. When activated by a Priest using a secret method, they could be used to summon the Heroic Spirits of the Ancestors.

This was a special item, restricted to use by a specific Race. The Sacrificial Bones Li Ziyu had obtained all came from the Lizardman Tribe.

The Headhunter Race were originally Human, but after becoming Headhunters, they were too busy struggling for survival to have the leisure to think about Ancestors. For all they knew, the meat they ate yesterday could have been from an older generation of Headhunters. They certainly didn't have the kind of ancestor worship seen in the Beastman Race, let alone would they build an altar.
