Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress
Chapter 358 182: Harvest Time
Li Ziyu and his people were in a slightly better position than Batubohe. While their losses were significant, they had ultimately won. They wouldn't be hunted across the land by the Natives. Instead, they had an opportunity to rule this region, which was a comforting thought.
"Brother Batu, what are your plans for the future?" Li Ziyu asked after a moment of thought.
"That depends on if a brother is willing to spare me a meal. I'm practically homeless now, HAHAHA..." Batubohe said before letting out another hearty laugh.
Calling himself homeless was a joke. Not only did he possess a Mobile Fortress, which meant home was wherever he went, but he also had a large contingent of Cavalry. He was by no means a small power; finding a place to survive wouldn't be the least bit difficult.
Batubohe, however, seemed to be a man of principle. Upon entering this territory, he sought the consent of Li Ziyu and his people, clearly wishing to avoid conflict.
Having lived in the Central Zone ever since he became a Transmigrator, Batubohe had access to far more information than Li Ziyu and his people. His understanding of the Wasteland was also greater than theirs, so he knew exactly what kind of place he was in.
This was a remote corner of the world, a place that none of the Strong Races from the Central Zone would spare a second glance. Precisely for that reason, he would be safe here.
In reality, the fallen powers of the Central Zone would all choose to flee to the remote regions bordering the Wasteland to barely scrape by. As long as they escaped to these desolate lands, the Races of the Central Zone wouldn't hunt them to extinction. This was an unwritten rule—you had to leave people a way out.
This was easy enough to understand. No one could guarantee their Race would prosper forever, not even the Strong Races of the Central Zone. Any one of them could fall into decline for any number of reasons. Thus, a tacit agreement was born: as long as a group managed to escape the Central Zone and retreat to the remote wastelands, the pursuit would end.
It was precisely because Batubohe understood this that he had fled to Li Ziyu's region.
Only here could he gather his Power anew, stage a comeback, and return to the bountiful Central Zone.
Despite Batubohe's apparent candor, Li Ziyu didn't let his guard down. 'As the saying goes, never intend to harm others, but always be on guard against them. Words are one thing, but actions are another. I can't just listen to what he says; I have to see what he does.'
Li Ziyu was grateful that Batubohe had extended a helping hand and aided him in winning the battle, but he was also wary of any potential schemes.
"Brother Batu, I don't object to you entering this region, and I'm in no position to stop you anyway," Li Ziyu said after some deliberation. "But I want to be clear with you: this region... is very poor. Resources are scarce."
"HAHAHA... It's no problem, no problem at all! I'm already thrilled to have a place to rest and reorganize. Then I'll be in your care, brother," Batubohe said with a happy smile, seeing that Li Ziyu had agreed.
'This region didn't belong to me in the first place,' Li Ziyu thought. 'I'm just making a gesture of goodwill that costs me nothing. If he really wanted to come here, could I have stopped him?'
'I couldn't have!'
'We're all Transmigrators; we know how each other operates.'
'The core of a Transmigrator's power is their Mobile Fortress, which is built to move. I could enter your territory, snatch some resources, and then just leave. What could you do? Chase me? What a joke. Wouldn't that just be a waste of time?'
'Unless I managed to corner him, there was no way I could stop him. So why agonize over it? It's better to just let Batubohe in. As long as we can maintain peace and avoid war, it'll be fine.'
Li Ziyu's development relied on resources quite different from what other Races used. Even if Batubohe needed resources, he most likely wouldn't come into conflict with Li Ziyu over them. The chances of peaceful coexistence were very high.
Seeing that Li Ziyu had agreed, Zhang Peng and Liu Xingxing exchanged a glance and chimed in, "Welcome, Brother Batu!"
"HAHAHA... Excellent! You're all good brothers! From now on, we're all one big family!" Batubohe boomed, his face alight with joy.
It was enough to have a place where he could settle in and stabilize for a while. He had a feeling he wouldn't stay in this remote, resource-scarce place forever. He still wanted to see the other parts of this world.
The men added each other as friends. Batubohe didn't linger; after the friend requests were accepted, he led his Golden Khan City into the Wasteland and departed.
Li Ziyu watched the Golden Khan City recede into the distance, his eyes narrowing slightly. 'I can't predict what will happen next. Today was my first time meeting Batubohe. We don't know each other, and we're both on guard. He might seem like a hearty, straightforward man on the surface, but you can never know what's truly in a person's heart. I'll find out what kind of person he really is over time, through more interaction.'
Batubohe also understood the subtleties of interpersonal relationships, which was why he hadn't lingered and had instead chosen to leave immediately.
In any case, there was plenty of time. They could get to know each other slowly. There was no need to rush.
For now, this outcome was more than good enough.
"Boss..." Zhang Peng began, then trailed off.
"Mm, I get it. We'll feel him out over time," Li Ziyu said, pulling his gaze back and offering Zhang Peng a small smile.
With that business concluded, it was time for the great harvest. To Li Ziyu, the corpses of the Alliance Soldiers and the Demonized Creatures were a massive fortune!
Go forth, my Undead, my Corpse Collectors!
At Li Ziyu's command, the Undead stirred to action once more, expertly sweeping the battlefield.
The Cancerous Tumor Alliance Army had started with over five hundred thousand soldiers. After a massive battle with the Undead, followed by a Charge from the Hydrogen People Cavalry, it was estimated that only a little over a hundred thousand had managed to escape. The Demonized Creatures had also suffered devastating losses, their corpses littering the battlefield.
