Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress
Chapter 344 - 177: Fortress Charge (2)
But there was no other way. They had been pushed this far. Cowering in fear was pointless. Only by charging forward bravely could they hope for a brighter future.
The sun’s afterglow dissipated, and the last sliver of light vanished below the horizon. Night had finally fallen.
Li Ziyu stretched out his hand. Zhang Peng and Liu Xingxing froze for a moment, then placed their hands on top of his, their eyes hardening with resolve.
"It’s time. Let’s show them what we’re made of! Move out!" Li Ziyu shouted, rallying them.
"Move out!" Liu Xingxing and Zhang Peng shouted in unison.
The two turned and left for their own fortresses. As Li Ziyu watched them go, he thought, ’I hope we can all meet again after this battle.’
BOOM—
With a deafening roar, the Earth Rat Fortress burrowed into the ground like a giant earthworm, vanishing without a trace. Simultaneously, the Treasure-Hunting Catman Fortress detached from the Bone Plate Platform, extinguished all its lights, and with a graceful drift, plunged into the darkness and was gone.
"Raise the fortress! It’s time for war—" Li Ziyu stood his ground, arms outstretched, and roared with all his might.
Sparks of ethereal blue fire suddenly flickered across the once-calm Undead Fortress. The entire structure began to tremble, rising slowly to reveal the Bone Wheels beneath. From the Soul Coffins, millions of Wandering Souls swarmed out, circling above the Undead Fortress and letting out piercing shrieks.
They knew exactly what was to happen tonight. The scent of a great battle made the Wandering Souls ecstatic.
In life, they had all been elite warriors from various races. They possessed a natural sensitivity to and longing for the battlefield. Even after being sealed in the Wraith Mountain Range for countless years, the approach of war reawakened that same excitement!
Hearing the commotion, the Tabu Minotaurs, their wounds bandaged, each picked up their Totem Poles and walked out. Though few in number, they were determined to do their part.
Under the supervision of Tas Tuling and Mumu, they had never slacked off. The Ghosts of their Ancestors came to teach them every day, instructing them in more advanced Combat Techniques.
Although the limitations of their bloodline prevented them from mastering many of the combat skills, their combat power had still increased significantly during this time.
They had lived upon the Undead Fortress for a long time and no longer feared the Undead or the Ghosts. In fact, they had grown to like this way of life. This place had always been safe, and the City Lord had never ordered them to the battlefield. He had simply given them a place to live.
The Minotaurs were grateful to Li Ziyu and had come to see the Undead Fortress as their home. When the Alliance Army launched its attack on the fortress, they stepped forward without hesitation. Just as they had against the Demonized Creatures, they would fight to the death to protect their home. They did not want to be displaced, and they refused to lose everything again.
This time, they would fight alongside the Undead!
"Attack!"
Li Ziyu pointed toward the Alliance Camp in the darkness and let out a heroic, thundering roar.
RUMBLE!
KRR-CHUNK KRR-CHUNK KRR-CHUNK...
The bone wheels turned, the Skeleton Engine revved to maximum power, and carrying countless Undead, it charged head-on toward the Alliance Camp.
Where the City Lord leads, the Undead vanguard follows!
The City Lord’s will is the will of the Undead!
We are the Undead, and the Undead are the embodiment of death!
We are unstoppable!
...
"Grand Marshal... they’re moving, they’re moving! The Undead are moving! They’re coming!"
A messenger sprinted toward Palamede’s tent. In his panic, he tripped and stumbled several times along the way, scrambling and crawling into the tent.
After withdrawing the troops and finishing the meeting that afternoon, Palamede had returned to his tent to rest. He was already awake and had donned his Armor. Seeing the messenger burst in so frantically, he couldn’t help but frown.
"Explain it clearly. How many Undead are coming, and from where?" Palamede demanded, grabbing the messenger to calm him down.
"It’s not the Undead... well, it is the Undead... argh, Grand Marshal, you should just go see for yourself! Their city is rolling over here!" The messenger stammered for a while, realizing he couldn’t explain it. He had never seen anything like it. In the end, he just gave up and told Palamede to go look for himself.
’What the hell is he talking about? First it’s not the Undead, then it is the Undead.’
Palamede shoved the messenger aside and strode out of his tent. He climbed a high platform to get a better view. In the Darkness, he saw a city shimmering with an eerie glow, a green Aura circling above it, steadily approaching the Alliance Camp.
He finally understood what the messenger had been trying to say.
’It really was the Undead, and yet not the Undead. They really fucking drove their city over here!’
’He had expected an attack from the Undead. He had expected it to be fierce. But he had never, ever expected them to bring their entire goddamn nest with them. This was completely insane!’
’When two sides go to war, you send out your troops! What kind of psycho charges with their whole city? Who the hell has ever seen anything like this?!’
And this was precisely the greatest advantage the Transmigrator City Lords held over the Natives. When you go to war, you marshall your troops and march out from your city to conquer us. But we are different. We bring our cities with us to fight you to the death. Either you get crushed by my city, or I wipe every last one of you out.
Come on, let’s get wild!
Come on, let’s have some fun!
"The Undead are here! Prepare for battle!"
There was no need for Palamede to give the order. Such an enormous Undead Fortress, advancing with the overwhelming momentum of a moving mountain—the Alliance Soldiers weren’t blind. They had seen it long ago.
