The corpses cleared from the battlefield were transported back to the fortress. As their numbers grew, Li Ziyu had the system begin decomposition.

This time, they were all elites from the Three Races. The Soul Energy yielded from decomposition was higher than usual, with most providing at least 100 units. Goblin Warriors were on the lower end.

With over 80,000 corpses, he could get at least 8 million units of Soul Energy. This was a huge windfall. With all this Soul Energy, he could summon even more Combat Sequences.

While the system decomposed the corpses, Li Ziyu summoned more Undead. Just as Palamede had said, he couldn’t possibly let the Alliance Army get away. He was going to launch an attack tonight and strive to end this battle before morning!

His Alien Undead were basically all wiped out, and his main Undead Combat Sequences had suffered heavy losses. The only thing Li Ziyu could do to replenish his fighting strength was to summon a massive number of Skeleton Undead.

It was too late to summon new Combat Sequences. Undead like the Elite Heavy Hammer Skeleton Warriors, Skeleton Longbowmen, and Skeleton Short Bowmen all took time to create. Even if he started now, it wouldn’t make much of a difference by tonight. It was better to focus all his efforts on summoning basic Skeleton Undead and crush the enemy with sheer numbers in the dark.

Time trickled by as the sun sank below the horizon. The damaged skeleton platform was repaired, and new Light Armor Shields were raised once again.

Zhang Peng and Liu Xingxing watched the setting sun paint half the sky crimson.

"It’s almost dark," Liu Xingxing murmured.

"Yeah," Zhang Peng nodded, offering a quiet blessing. "Good luck. I hope I still see you tomorrow."

Li Ziyu had already discussed the plan with them. They were to coordinate with his night attack on the Alliance Army. But battle meant death. Even though they were Lords, if their fortresses were destroyed, they would die all the same.

"Hey, so this is where you two are. What’s this? Getting sentimental, or just planning to enjoy the night view?"

Zhang Peng and Liu Xingxing turned around at the same time to see Li Ziyu approaching with a grin. He came to a stop between them, also gazing into the distance.

In truth, they could have communicated through the system’s private chat. But with a great battle looming, Li Ziyu decided to come and speak face-to-face with the two friends who stood by his side.

"You stopped cranking out Skeletons?" Zhang Peng glanced at the Undead Architecture behind them. The structures were now noticeably bulkier. Li Ziyu hadn’t stopped since the last battle ended, constantly producing Skeletons in preparation for a major push tonight.

"Heh. It’s dark now," Li Ziyu said wistfully, not answering Zhang Peng’s question.

"Boss..." Liu Xingxing started to speak but trailed off. He wanted to say something but didn’t know how. The usually cheerful, sunny young man had become worried and somber.

"It’ll be fine. Don’t worry too much," Li Ziyu said, patting Liu Xingxing’s shoulder and giving it a firm squeeze. "We’re Transmigrators. Are we really going to let a bunch of Natives push us around? The night belongs to us. Once we take those guys out, this Wasteland will be ours for the taking."

’Not worried? How could I possibly not be worried!’

’After today’s battle, I realize I seriously underestimated the Alliance Army’s strength. I originally thought my million-strong Undead Army could easily hold out until nightfall. Then, with my Combat Sequences and Alien Undead, I could take them down in one fierce assault.’

’But clearly, I was naive. The enemy wasn’t nearly that easy to deal with. Not only were a million Skeleton Undead not enough, I had to send in my reserves as well. And even then, it took the near-total annihilation of my Alien Undead Corps and losing half of my Combat Sequences just to make them retreat.’

’It’s hard to say if I can even win tonight’s battle. But I have to fight. Night is when the Undead are strongest. If I don’t attack tonight, by the time the sun rises tomorrow, their Warriors will all be recovered. If they attack again then, it’ll be a real disaster.’

’Fleeing is an option, of course. But if I choose to run... setting aside my own pride, I’d have to abandon the Wraith Mountain Range, this vitally important resource point. I can’t accept that loss alone.’

’As the saying goes, it’s easy to go from frugal to lavish, but hard to go from lavish to frugal. Before I reached the Wraith Mountain Range, scraping together enough Undead was a huge pain. Before every fight, I had to scout, and scout again, and still act secretively. I simply couldn’t afford the losses; my forces were too small.’

’After getting to the Wraith Mountain Range, with the support of the Corpse Remains here, I can now fight battles on a scale of millions without feeling the pressure.’

’To be chased away in disgrace without even putting up a fight... I can’t stomach that kind of humiliation.’

’Fleeing after a defeat is one thing. I can accept that. But fleeing without even fighting? Absolutely not!’

’Besides, where would I even run? Could I even get out of this region? Where would I go to rebuild?’

’The strongest enemy in this area is the Three Races Alliance Army right in front of me. If I wipe them out, I’ll be the one calling the shots in this region. No other power will be able to challenge me. I’ll ascend directly to the ruling class.’

’It’s time to bet it all on this one fight.’

Hearing Li Ziyu’s words, Liu Xingxing lowered his head, his spirits still low. He wasn’t the type who enjoyed struggles for supremacy. He preferred freedom, treasure hunting, and exploration. He hated situations like this, with armies clashing. Even just thinking about it made him shudder.
