Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress

Chapter 339 - 175: Full-Scale Assault

  • Next Chapter

In a large-scale battle like this, the Skeleton Short Bowmen’s objective was never to kill the Goblin Warriors. That would take too much time. Their purpose was simply to wound them. An injury was enough—the other Skeleton Undead would finish them off.

With the Skeleton Short Bowmen firing from concealment, the Goblin Warriors suffered heavy losses. Some of the Goblin Warriors realized what was happening and tried to retreat, but it was too late. More of their comrades had already charged forward and joined the fray.

The main force of the Alliance Army had also arrived. Despite the powerful magical bombardments, arrow volleys, and Cavalry Charges, the true combat strength of the Alliance Army lay with its infantry. They were the real backbone!

A Tribe could do without Shamans, Mages, or Priests. It could even do without Cavalry or archers. But it would always have a large number of infantry!

And those who joined the Alliance Army were the elites of their respective races. One could only imagine the power of nearly a hundred thousand Lizardman and Headhunter Race infantrymen.

They were completely different from the ordinary Tribe Warriors who had fought chaotically before. They were far more skilled in cooperative tactics. After charging to the front lines, their formations held firm. Relying on their battle formations, they relentlessly cut down the Skeleton Undead and advanced with a steady, unyielding pace.

This was especially true for the Lizardman infantry regiments. Their equipment was uniform. In the front were Warriors with Shields dedicated to defense, while Long Spearmen handled the attack from the rear. They formed a ring that the Undead simply could not approach. The moment one got close, several Long Spears would shoot out to pierce its skull.

The Headhunter Race’s battle formations, on the other hand, were far more flexible. They employed a ’surge and withdraw’ tactic: the front rank would strike, then retreat a step as the rear rank surged forward. Like interlocking Gears, they tore everything in their path to shreds.

Faced with the elites of the Alliance Army, the remaining Skeleton Undead on the front lines could only be slaughtered. They were completely powerless to resist. Their annihilation was a foregone conclusion.

The Cavalry had already broken through the front and were preparing to attack the Skeleton Undead phalanx currently engaged with the Goblin Warriors.

Just then, the ground began to tremble.

The members of the Cavalry turned their heads in confusion, their pupils suddenly dilating.

The Alien Undead, the grand army of Skeleton Beasts, had finally arrived!

They charged from the flank, led by Frenzied Skeleton Giant Tusked Boars. Behind them came a terrifying horde of Dark Skeleton Desert Wolves, followed by a motley army of various other Skeleton Beasts. The rumbling sound was the thunder of their stampede as they slammed violently into the Alliance Army’s Cavalry.

The Frenzied Skeleton Giant Tusked Boars were already glowing a dazzling red, charging recklessly forward like Fireballs.

Fortunately, many of the cavalrymen reacted quickly. Deciding it was better to fight than to be run down, the Alliance Army’s Cavalry wheeled their mounts around and launched a Charge of their own against the Alien Undead.

The two forces collided in an instant. A Cavalry Charge is the most brutal form of combat—a battle to the death!

Even the Frenzied Skeleton Giant Tusked Boars couldn’t withstand a head-on Charge from the Cavalry and were instantly shattered on impact. But the cavalrymen didn’t escape unscathed.

In a normal Cavalry Charge, mounts would veer to the side as the two Knights fought each other. But dammit, the enemy wasn’t Knights—they were Skeleton Beasts! They didn’t give a damn. Their tactic was simple: you ram me, I ram you. Even if you shattered your opponent, your own mount would be lost in the process.

A collision with a charging Skeleton Giant Tusked Boar would, at best, result in injury; at worst, it would smash you to a pulp.

Meanwhile, the Dark Skeleton Desert Wolves following the Skeleton Giant Tusked Boars leaped up, dragging Knights from their saddles and inflicting considerable losses.

The Skeleton Beast Corps had arrived at the perfect time. They bought the Skeleton Undead Corps more time, preventing the Cavalry from immediately joining the main battle.
