Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress
Chapter 327 171: War Begins Today (Part 3)
They were all exhausted. The long march had already been draining enough, and they had hoped for a good night's sleep. But who could have known those shameless Undead would torment them all night long? As a result, their spirits were low, and they couldn't stop yawning.
The Alliance Soldiers simply refused to believe it. They felt there must have been a mistake; the generals weren't fools. 'How could they possibly make such a decision?'
But in truth, the military order was soon passed down, telling them to prepare for the attack.
"Are we really going to fight?"
"I want to sleep."
"Who doesn't?"
"I can't go. I was injured last night."
...
The Alliance Soldiers were instantly full of grievances, their voices rising in a chorus of complaint.
As if anticipating this very outcome, squads of Commanders composed of Lizardmen and members of the Headhunter Race arrived among the warriors, supervising their preparations for battle.
Seeing the Commanders, the Alliance Soldiers knew there was no way out of it. These guys were not to be trifled with—they would genuinely kill people.
The Commanders were handpicked from within the Alliance Army. Each one was cold and merciless, adept at slaughter, and obeyed Palamede's orders.
After they executed a few Warriors who tried to slack off, the rest of the soldiers fell into line. They put on their Armor, picked up their Weapons, and marched outside.
An army of more than three hundred thousand was mobilized, marching in a vast procession toward the Wraith Mountain Range.
...
Through the swirling dust, the figures of the Alien Race were barely visible. The column of troops was like a great dragon, its end nowhere in sight.
"Brother Peng, they're here! The enemy is attacking!" Liu Xingxing lowered the system-issued binoculars in his hands and scrambled down the White Bone Watchtower, shouting as he ran.
Zhang Peng heard him and hurried over, grabbing hold of Liu Xingxing. "Catch your breath, then talk."
"HUFF... HUFF... HUFF... They're all here... Can't see the end of them... There are so many," Liu Xingxing gasped, leaning on his legs and panting for breath.
"Alright, I'll go get the boss," Zhang Peng said, patting Liu Xingxing's shoulder before running toward the main building.
By the time he reached the main building, however, he found that Li Ziyu was already awake and on his way out.
"Boss, you're up?" Zhang Peng said, startled.
"Yeah. The Archers woke me," Li Ziyu replied with a nod.
The Undead were far faster than Zhang Peng or Liu Xingxing. The platform was equipped with White Bone Watchtowers. Because the enemy could arrive at any moment, the Skeleton Longbowmen on the watchtowers hadn't hidden away as they normally would. Instead, they remained on high alert. The moment they spotted the approaching Alliance Army, they had already relayed the message to the main building through the Soul Network.
The Undead in the main building naturally woke Li Ziyu.
Leaving the main building, they found Liu Xingxing. The three of them climbed a Watchtower together to get a better view, gazing at the vast Cancerous Tumor Alliance Army approaching from the distance.
"Boss, it looks like last night's raid didn't do much," Zhang Peng commented, squinting into the distance.
"Heh. We'll find out whether it did anything or not once we start fighting," Li Ziyu said dismissively.
He was certain the enemy hadn't rested well the previous night. And yet, they were still launching an attack. 'Their combat effectiveness must have taken a hit,' he thought.
He wasn't hoping to defeat the Cancerous Tumor Alliance Army during the day, merely to stall them.
Although his Undead army vastly outnumbered the enemy—a million against three hundred thousand—in reality, Li Ziyu didn't have many elite troops. His forces were primarily composed of Low Level Undead. The enemy, in contrast, was made up entirely of elites.
As elites, never mind the Headhunter Race and Lizardmen—even one of their goblins could take on three of his own without a problem.
The Skeleton Undead had already formed up in front of the fortress. They were arranged in neat, square blocks, looking well-drilled and imposing. This was all thanks to the Skeleton Warriors.
The Alliance Army arrived before the Skeleton Undead formations. A horde of goblins stood at the very front—a massive, disorderly crowd. Within the Alliance Army, goblins were nothing more than cannon fodder.
As the elites among the goblins, their equipment was far superior to that of their ordinary brethren, and their bodies were also more robust.
