Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress
Chapter 324 170: Long-Range Bombardment 3
Unleashing Meteor Soul didn't just affect the Wandering Souls; it also took a toll on Li Ziyu. The bone-chilling cold made his body stiff, and locking onto a target required his soul to leave his body. He was a Human, not a Wandering Soul, so even though the process was brief, he was left feeling utterly exhausted.
After giving Zhang Peng a few instructions, Li Ziyu collapsed to the ground. He drowsily closed his eyes, planning to take a quick nap to recover his Spirit before unleashing the next wave.
...
"The sun! The green sun is rising again!"
The meeting had just ended. Back in his tent, Palamede had barely laid down on his Beast Hide mat when he heard the panicked shouts of soldiers outside. He immediately shot up, grabbed his axe, and rushed out, looking up at the sky.
A green ball of light, trailing a long, fiery tail, streaked across the sky, heading straight for the Alliance Camp.
'Where?'
'Where is it going to hit this time?'
Palamede stared at the so-called sun, his mind racing. He finally understood what the Undead were trying to do. They didn't want any of them to rest; they were using the night to relentlessly harass them.
As the Alliance Soldiers watched, the green sun flew over the Alliance Camp and exploded with a thunderous boom. Countless smaller points of light scattered and rained down from the sky, and cries of anguish filled the camp.
'That's... the outskirts of the camp. The goblin camp?'
Palamede looked toward the bombed area, calculated the impact zone, and immediately relaxed.
'Oh, the goblin camp. Well, that's fine then.'
Just like the other members of the Headhunter Race and the Lizardmen, Palamede didn't give a damn about the goblins. 'Aren't those little green-skinned runts just pure cannon fodder? The ultimate suckers?' They would die on the battlefield anyway, so it didn't matter if some died from the Undead's bombardment. As long as the central command wasn't hit, everything was fine.
Having fled back to the tunnel, Li Ziyu clicked his tongue in annoyance as he returned to the Gopher Fortress. 'Damn it, I missed.'
'I was clearly aiming for the Alliance's Central Zone, but my focus wavered for a second at launch,' he thought. 'The shot went wide and hit the outskirts of the Alliance Camp. I wonder if I even hit anyone. Well, I hope it at least did something.'
Once Li Ziyu and the Elite Heavy Hammer Skeleton Warriors were inside the fortress, Zhang Peng didn't even need to be told. He proactively started up the fortress, and they beat a hasty retreat.
Unleashing Meteor Soul not only required the Wandering Souls to consume Soul Power and recuperate, but Li Ziyu also needed to recover. After using the Skill twice, he felt unusually exhausted and drowsy. His muscles ached, and it felt like he was just getting over a bad flu.
'The side effects are pretty severe,' Li Ziyu thought. 'I don't know if I can manage four shots. If it gets worse each time, I'll probably collapse from illness by the time I get back to the Undead Fortress.'
「Alliance Camp.」
Although it was the goblin camp that had been bombed, a commotion was unavoidable. It wasn't that the Headhunter Race or the Lizardmen cared about the goblins; it was that the terrified little runts were now shrieking and running wildly all over the Alliance Camp, preventing the other Warriors from getting any rest.
After a long and chaotic ordeal, the goblins were finally suppressed and forced to settle down.
Having endured two bombardments, Palamede was no longer in the mood to rest. He calculated the interval between the attacks. After the goblins were finally quelled, he realized the time was about right for the third bombardment. Expecting it to come at any moment, he looked up at the sky.
He waited for a long time, but nothing happened.
'Hmm?'
'Did I miscalculate?'
Palamede frowned and recalculated the timing again. 'No, there's no mistake. It should be time for the next attack. Why aren't they attacking? Have they given up for the night? Retreated?' He couldn't understand it.
Another hour passed. Palamede, growing impatient, had just returned to his tent to rest when...
"Enemy attack!"
A Warrior's warning cry rang out. Palamede sat up on his mat, spat viciously, and strode out of his tent.
