Chapter 322 - 170: Remote Bombardment

The moon was bright tonight, providing ample light. In addition to seeing the Alliance Camp in the far distance, he could also spot small black dots scurrying across the Wasteland. Without a doubt, those were the Alliance Army’s scouts.

’Good. Not many scouts have come this way, so I shouldn’t be discovered.’

’Tsk. In that case, don’t blame me for what’s coming. Happy holidays, everyone. I’m about to give you a little fireworks show.’

Li Ziyu smiled faintly and beckoned toward the tunnel. The Soul Coffin slowly floated up from the entrance and drifted to his side.

’Whether this night raid succeeds will all depend on how well the Ghosts perform.’

He had prepared in advance, having all the Wandering Souls enter the Soul Coffin and wait before he even set out.

Peeking his head out from behind the rock, he double-checked the direction of the camp and mentally estimated the distance. Then, Li Ziyu activated the Soul Coffin’s Skill: Meteor Soul!

Inside the Soul Coffin, the Wandering Souls erupted with a powerful spiritual presence. Mysterious, green-glowing Runes appeared on the coffin’s surface as its aura intensified. The hand Li Ziyu had placed on the Soul Coffin went numb, and a frigid coldness spread up his arm and through his entire body.

His vision blurred, and his consciousness shot high into the sky. He could see everything below. In addition to the distant Alliance Camp, he also saw the Alliance scouts, who had sensed the spiritual presence and were now rushing toward his location.

With his consciousness, he designated a target area in the center of the Alliance Camp. ’That’s the kill zone,’ he thought. ’Fire!’

The Soul Power contracted, compressing into the Soul Coffin. The lid let out a CREAKING GROAN and then suddenly burst open.

BOOM!

The Soul Energy, compressed to its absolute limit within the Soul Coffin, erupted forth and shot straight toward the heavens.

This was nothing like his previous attack on the Jackal Wolfmen. The last time had been an experiment; his preparations were nowhere near as thorough, and he hadn’t compressed the Soul Power nearly as violently.

During the attack on the Jackal Wolfmen, hundreds of light projectiles had shot out from the Soul Coffin. This time, there was only one: a single orb, like a small green sun, ascending into the sky at a speed that seemed slow but was deceptively fast.

It was incredibly eye-catching. Forget the scouts—even the distant Alliance Camp could see it with perfect clarity.

"What is that?"

The same question arose in the mind of everyone who saw the Meteor Soul ascend.

After launching the "cannonball," Li Ziyu hastily pulled his consciousness back into his body. Shaking his frozen hand, he scrambled back toward the tunnel, the Soul Coffin following close behind.

He leaped down through the opening and saw the Elite Heavy Hammer Skeleton Warrior waiting for him. Only then did Li Ziyu let out a small sigh of relief.

"Fall back! Now!"

Li Ziyu said without a moment’s hesitation. He rushed to the Gopher Fortress, dove inside, and immediately told Zhang Peng to activate the fortress and get them out of there.

Zhang Peng had no idea what was going on, but seeing Li Ziyu’s frantic state, he guessed something had happened. Not daring to delay, he activated the fortress immediately. They could run first and ask questions later.

"Is... Is that a green sun?" one of the Alliance scouts stammered, staring blankly up at the Meteor Soul.

"Snap out of it!" another scout said, slapping him on the back. "We can’t just stand here gawking! We have to go check it out!"

The scouts reached the cluster of rocks and, after a brief inspection, discovered a large hole hidden in the shadows behind one of them.

"Damn it, they got away!"

"Should we go in and check it out?"

"Look! That sun, it’s doing something!"

The scouts looked up at the "green sun." It had already climbed high into the sky, becoming a single point of light. After hovering for a few seconds, that point suddenly accelerated, streaking toward the Alliance Camp with a long tail trailing behind it.

The scouts’ eyes went wide. A terrible feeling washed over them.

They could only watch, helpless, as the "sun" flew faster and farther away. It was moving too quickly for them to even think about sending a warning to the Alliance Camp.

The Meteor Soul continued to accelerate, arriving over the Alliance Camp in moments.

BOOM—

With a tremendous bang, the Meteor Soul burst apart, shattering into what looked like a rain of blossoms. Countless fist-sized, smaller meteors, each trailing a green tail flame, rained down from the sky.

If the attack on the Jackal Wolfmen was like cannon fire, this was a shotgun blast. Each projectile was weaker, but the area of effect was far wider!

As the projectiles rained down, the camp erupted with the sound of explosions. Wails and screams filled the air, and the Alliance Army was thrown into utter chaos.

The small meteors had limited power. The Alliance Soldiers were elites, after all, so few were killed. But the true power of Meteor Soul was only just beginning to unfold. The Power of the Wraith began to spread.

Because of the wide area, the lethality of the Power of the Wraith was diminished, but it still caused immense trouble for the Alliance Soldiers. It left some wounded and others severely weakened. The sudden attack had caught them completely off guard, and fires had started to break out in some of the tents.

"COUGH, COUGH... Hold the line! Do not panic!" Palamede had not expected the Undead’s opening attack to be so ferocious. Just moments before, he had been in his own tent, pondering how to launch his own offensive, never imagining the enemy would strike first.

He burst out of his tent, axe in one hand and the other covering his mouth. The camp was in total disarray, with Warriors running around like headless chickens. Palamede bellowed, his voice filled with urgency.

Fortunately, these were all elite troops. The generals and Clan Leaders quickly stepped up to take command. At their sharp orders, the Warriors settled down, moved to avoid the areas covered by the Power of the Wraith, and order was gradually restored.

"Where did that attack come from? Where are our scouts? Why was there no warning?!" Once the situation had stabilized, Palamede summoned the generals and Clan Leaders to the command tent, his voice laced with displeasure.
