Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress
Chapter 306 164: Night Raid on the Vanguard (3)
After a mere ten seconds, the first Lizardman's expression changed drastically as he straightened up.
"Hm?" Noticing something was wrong with his companion, the second Lizardman also bent down to feel the ground. Soon, his expression changed too.
'Something's coming, and there are a lot of them!'
He finally understood what his companion had sensed.
And when he looked up, he saw small points of light flickering unsteadily in the darkness.
'Is that... an enemy attack?!'
The second Lizardman reacted even faster than the first. He turned and fled, pulling a warning whistle from his clothes and blowing it as he ran.
TWEEET—
The whistle blast startled the first Lizardman, who had been staring into the distance. He looked around in a daze, realizing his companion was gone. A quick turn of his head revealed the second Lizardman, already more than fifty paces away.
'You damn traitor! You could've at least given me a shout before you ran!'
The first Lizardman cursed inwardly as he chased after his companion, shouting a warning as he ran: "Enemy attack! Enemy attack! The Undead are coming!"
TWEEET—

Hearing the whistles, the other Lizardmen nearby quickly reacted. They took out their own whistles and blew them, all while rushing toward the main camp. None of them wanted to face the hordes of Undead alone.
"Huh? Did you guys hear something?" asked a goblin who was warming himself by a fire. His ears twitched as he looked around at the others.
"I think I heard something, but who cares? Here, eat this," his companion said with a snicker, handing him a piece of fruit.
Unlike the goblins, the Headhunter Race immediately grabbed their weapons and emerged from their tents when they heard the whistles. They quickly fell into formation. They weren't fools; they knew exactly what the whistles meant. It was a warning from the Lizardmen, signaling an enemy attack.
Soon after, a denser chorus of whistles erupted from the Lizardman camp as they, too, began to assemble.
The goblins, in contrast—despite being the most numerous contingent in the Vanguard Army—remained as lazy as ever. Many of them simply stared blankly at the Headhunter Race and the Lizardmen, clueless as to what was happening. The rest looked on with excitement, as if they were about to watch a good show.
"Enemy attack! The Undead are here! What are you doing? Grab your Weapons! Prepare for battle!"
When the Lizardman scout ran over, he was enraged to find that the goblins showed no signs of assembling. They were still just doing whatever they pleased, so he roared at them.
An enemy attack?
An enemy attack!
This finally snapped the groggy goblins out of their stupor. But instead of assembling like the Lizardmen and the Headhunter Race, they devolved into a chaotic mob—shoving, scrambling, snatching each other's weapons, and slugging each other in the face.
The Lizardman who had come to warn them buried his face in his hands and sighed helplessly. 'These are our Allies? These are the Warriors meant to fight beside us?'
'Can these guys even be taken onto a battlefield?'
'What a disaster!'
Fortunately, the Lizardman leader, Momonai, had anticipated this. He went directly to the Goblin Leader and had him summon the Bear Goblins. By force, they intimidated the rank-and-file, finally getting the goblins to reluctantly assemble.
By the time the goblins had assembled, the Headhunter Race and the Lizardmen were already outside the camp, formed up in ranks and ready for battle.
But it was too late. The goblins had wasted too much time. The Undead were already drawing near, leaving them no chance to sally out. Their only option was to form up and fight in front of the camp.
From far away, the Frenzied Skeleton Giant Tusked Boars sensed the presence of the living. There were a great many, but this didn't make them hesitate. On the contrary, it only made them more excited. Closer, closer... Charge—
A fiery light erupted from each of the Skeleton Giant Tusked Boars. They transformed into small fireballs, their Speed beginning to climb.
