A pungent smell of burning rat-man fur filled the air.

"SKREEE!"

"SKREE! SKREE!"

"SKREEEE—!"

Over a dozen rat-men, wreathed in flame, scrambled madly out of the rat holes, leaping two meters into the air.

They glanced around wildly in mid-air, searching for a fire-free hole to dive back into.

The Female Soldiers sprang into action. Qi Yue’s Moon Blade was already glowing.

But before they could, hundreds of Arrows were already flying toward them.

WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH!

THWACK! THWACK! THWACK!

The rat-men became mid-air targets, each one struck by several Arrows.

They were dead before they even hit the ground.

It was the work of the Tier Three Elf Longbowmen.

This was their area of expertise.

Zhao Chi nodded. "Not bad. Zhuang Ya, continue."

Zhuang Ya smiled. "Alright! Watch me burn them all to a crisp!"

The rat-men had dug tunnels underground, many of which were interconnected.

Zhuang Ya unleashed a Fire Sea Skill, covering several of the dirt tunnels at once.

Nearly a hundred more rat-men were flushed out by the fire, becoming aerial targets for the Elves.

The remaining rat-men must have realized someone was setting fires outside. They stopped hiding quietly and started digging frantically.

The quiet battlefield became a clamor of noise.

The sound of digging was everywhere.

The rat-men were all tunneling deeper.

’This is getting tricky.’

The Flames couldn’t easily reach them.

Gu Qing walked over to Zhuang Ya. "Let me add some wind for you."

Zhuang Ya’s eyes lit up. "Wind? Excellent!"

Gu Qing crouched down and placed her arm into a tunnel as well. "Let’s begin!"

"Got it! Fire Sea Skill!"

Their two fair arms were side-by-side as they activated their skills simultaneously.

Flames shot out.

A fierce wind swept in.

The wind fanned the fire, causing it to surge and spread rapidly through the underground network.

Tongues of fire erupted from dozens of surrounding holes.

Smoke and dust billowed out, filling the sky.

Another dozen or so rat-men were forced out, becoming more experience and target practice for the Elves.

"Next hole!"

Gu Qing pointed into the distance.

"Okay, let’s go!"

The rat-men were flushed out batch by batch.

But their numbers were dwindling.

Besides, Zhuang Ya’s Spiritual Power was limited; she couldn’t keep this up forever.

Many rat-men had also dug too deep and were difficult to burn out.

By their estimates, there were still several dozen rat-men underground.

’What should we do?’

Gu Qing patted the dirt off her arm. "Sir, how about I try using water?"

Gu Qing knew the Water Condensation Skill.

Flooding the tunnels with a large amount of water would indeed be very effective.

Even if it didn’t drown them, it could suffocate them.

However, the Water Condensation Skill was only a Basic Water Spiritual Technique, so its Effect was quite limited.

If Gu Qing were to conjure water for her own drinking, or even bathing, it would be more than enough.

But it was nowhere near enough to flood this entire vast network of tunnels.

Su Qin pointed to a rat-man near Gu Qing. "Should we try to get them to surrender?"

"Surrender?" Gu Qing asked, surprised. "They can talk?"

Su Qin shook her head. "They can’t speak our language, but they can understand us. We can have them communicate in the rat-man tongue."

Zhao Chi nodded. "It’s worth a try. Gu Qing, tie up a few and send them in to communicate."

"Understood."

Gu Qing walked over to the captured rat-men and carefully selected five of them.

She then straightened the Silk Threads on their bodies, removing the ones from their mouths, leaving only their bodies and hands bound.

"Zhuang Ya, you’re up." Gu Qing raised an eyebrow at her.

Zhuang Ya understood immediately.

She walked closer, her palms wreathed in fire.

"SKREE!"

"SKREEE—SKREE SKREE!"

The rat-men thought she was coming to burn them to death and were scared out of their wits, scurrying about in a panic.

But they were bound tightly by the Silk Threads and couldn’t break free.

"All of you, be quiet and stay still! If you move again, I’ll burn you to death!"

Zhuang Ya said viciously, her gaze piercing.

With that one sentence, all the rat-men froze.

"Get closer to me! Stand right here and don’t move!"

The five rat-men shuffled forward, trembling, their necks retracted. They looked as timid as mice.

Zhuang Ya said, "You are to go down and tell the remaining rat-men to surrender. If they surrender, we won’t kill them. We’ll let you live. Otherwise, we’ll burn you all to death. Understand!?"

As she spoke the last few words, Zhuang Ya’s voice suddenly boomed.

The five rat-men were so startled they fell over, landing on their rears.

"SKREE! SKREE SKREE!"

"SKREEE—SKREE!"

The rat-men nodded repeatedly but then pointed at a large tree behind them.

"A tree? What about the tree?" Zhuang Ya was confused for a moment, but then it dawned on her. "Oh~ You want me to chop some firewood, stuff it in the holes, and light it to smoke the underground rat-men to death? Great idea!"

Hearing this, the rat-men shook their heads desperately, waving their arms and legs in a fluster.

"SKREE! SKREE! SKREE!"

"SKREESKREESKREE!"

"SKREEE—SKREE!"

A rat-man grabbed its ears with its hands, pulling them until they looked long.

Zhuang Ya understood. "Oh, you mean you’re afraid of the Elves’ Arrows? You’re saying you can only persuade them to surrender if they stop shooting?"

The rat-men breathed a sigh of relief and all nodded.

It seemed Zhuang Ya was right.

Su Qin said, "Alright. We won’t shoot. Hurry up and get your companions to come out and surrender."

Zhuang Ya added with a wicked grin, "A good chance to live like this is rare. If they don’t surrender, we’ll stuff the holes with firewood, light it, and turn them all into smoked barbecue. You’ll be roasted to death too."

The rat-men all grew anxious.

Once again, they started squealing loudly.

Zhuang Ya snorted. "What are you squealing about? It’s not just the five of you. If they don’t surrender, all of you here will die too!"

Zhuang Ya pointed at the other captured rat-men on the ground.

The rat-men stuck to the ground were dumbfounded. ’What does this have to do with us?’ they thought.

At that, all the captured rat-men began to shriek.

Gu Qing saw that the time was right.

She called Tang Ruan and the others over. "Tang Ruan, Qi Yue, Zhuang Ya, and Su Qin. The five of us will each take a rope. Find different holes and let them go in to negotiate the surrender."

"Alright!"

The women led the rat-men by their tethers, quickly found suitable holes, and let the rats into the tunnels.

As the rat-men went deeper, the length of light yellow Silk Thread in their hands grew shorter and pulled tighter.

But the length was definitely sufficient.
