Global Lords: My Territory Heart Is a World Tree
Chapter 472 - 45: Unstoppable (Part 2)
Chapter 472: Chapter 45: Unstoppable (Part 2)
Lin Yu decided to use this territory for some practice and to test his own strength.
While he was at it, he would break the siege for the Titan Race lords. They were in a truly miserable state.
Originally, being under siege was supposed to be the main theme for the Human Race at this stage, but now others were enjoying the experience.
The three-thousand-strong Hero Squad was composed of members from various races who had all changed their class to Druid. They were mainly elves and members of the Demon Race, but also included Human Race heroes who had recently pledged allegiance to the territory.
After being incorporated into the World Tree Territory, the Human Race, with their advantage in higher intelligence, had gradually carved out a place for themselves.
Those humans who were already heroes received two Cultivation Techniques, the Sun and Moon Breathing Technique and the Star Technique, after joining Lin Yu’s territory.
Cultivating in the high-Spiritual Energy environment of the World Tree Territory, most of them had advanced in tier. Excellent became Exceptional, and Exceptional became Legendary. Some particularly outstanding heroes even skipped two ranks, jumping directly from Excellent Tier to Legendary.
Unfortunately, although many territories had been assigned to Lin Yu, for some reason, there weren’t many wanderers—subjects and heroes who had lost their territories—on them.
’Perhaps the lords of these territories were eliminated early on?’
Because the initial number was low, no top-tier geniuses had emerged from this group. As of now, there were no heroes who had cultivated directly to the Mythical Tier, which was a bit of a shame.
Under Lin Yu’s lead, the group, concealed by invisibility, arrived before the city of the Bone Shattering Territory.
Because the spell’s level was very high, none of the sentries along the way noticed them, and thus lost their lives without even realizing what had happened.
At that moment, the Beastman patrol on the city wall was walking at a leisurely pace, completely unaware that in the shadows below, a group of people was watching them silently.
"My Lord, should we charge up and kill them?"
Chenxi asked.
"No, you all watch from here. Let me go first and test the waters!"
Lin Yu looked at the city, eager to give it a try.
"My Lord, isn’t that too dangerous?"
"What’s there to be afraid of? The three of you couldn’t even break my defense when you ganged up on me. You think I’m scared of some traps?"
"Well, in that case, please be careful, My Lord~"
"Haha, just watch me!"
Before the words had even left his mouth, Lin Yu had already vanished from his spot.
He could now retract the energy around his body, so he no longer produced afterimages when moving at high speeds.
By controlling his movement speed to stay just under the speed of sound, he could also avoid creating a sonic boom.
This way, when he moved at high speed, he could effectively vanish from a person’s line of sight, achieving an invisibility effect.
Lin Yu ran up the city wall, reaching the top in a few leaps. He drew his sword and rushed toward the Beastman patrolmen one by one, all while moving at high speed.
One patrolman only felt a gust of wind blow past him before his beastly head fell to the ground.
The patrolmen were in groups of at least two. Seeing his companion’s state, the patrolman beside him quickly turned his head to look for the enemy, and this very motion caused his own head to fall to the ground.
As this gust of wind named "Lin Yu" made a full circle around the city wall, all the patrolling Beastmen on the ramparts lost their heads.
Many of the headless bodies remained standing in place, unmoving, maintaining their final living posture. They appeared no different than before.
Only the dead silence, an environment now devoid of even the sound of footsteps, made it clear what had happened.
Below the wall, the heroes who had never witnessed Lin Yu’s true strength were completely stunned by his performance.
This was especially true for the Human Race heroes. They had followed previous Human Race Lords and experienced the loss of their territories. They knew that these lords were not so sacrosanct; the mystique of being a lord had been dispelled for them.
They had never imagined that a lord could be even more formidable than heroes like them.
Even the original members of the territory hadn’t expected Lin Yu to be this strong.
Lin Yu was the first student of the Jade Sanctuary, which made him the senior of all subsequent students.
Therefore, they knew that Lin Yu had been studying continuously at the Jade Sanctuary.
Through word of mouth, everyone had also come to understand that Lin Yu’s tier wasn’t high. Recently, he had been studying knowledge related to the Great Druid, which corresponded to the Exceptional Tier.
(This is knowledge studied before advancing from the Excellent Tier to the Exceptional Tier, or as supplementary study after reaching the Exceptional Tier.)
In other words, Lin Yu’s tier should be Exceptional at most.
And yet, Lin Yu had just displayed a speed that even they, as Legendary Heroes, could not hope to achieve.
"Is the Lord really that powerful?"
"Is that kind of movement speed something an Exceptional Tier person can achieve?"
"Well, he’s the Lord. Of course he has methods we don’t know about. Otherwise, how could he be the Lord?"
"The Lord is amazing! His speed at the Exceptional Tier is already so much faster than ours!"
...
The territory’s heroes began to discuss quietly amongst themselves, their words filled with nothing but praise for Lin Yu’s performance, their reverence plain to see.
"Stop! The Lord has entered the city. Follow me, let’s get up on the wall."
Seeing Lin Yu jump down from the wall, Chenxi interrupted the heroes’ discussion and led them up onto the ramparts. They concealed themselves in the shadows and continued to observe Lin Yu’s movements.
(Although the Beastman patrolmen couldn’t see Lin Yu’s high-speed movements, these heroes, who were at least Legendary Tier, could still perceive his trajectory. With the help of some Magic, they were able to observe him.)
After leaping from the wall, Lin Yu continued to charge deeper into the city. Any Beastman he encountered along the way, whether they were patrolling soldiers or passing civilians, lost their lives in silence.
A path of death extended continuously, following Lin Yu’s movements.
Another patrol discovered these abnormally dead soldiers and immediately shouted loudly, running to report to a high-ranking officer.
Unfortunately, Lin Yu’s speed was just a fraction slower than the speed of sound. Their shouts could not keep up with his actions.
The Beastmen deeper inside the city were still unaware that their city had been invaded as Lin Yu approached.
These Beastman soldiers who discovered the anomaly didn’t live for long either. They were dealt with by the elite Hero Squad, which was tailing Lin Yu from a distance.
Even the patrol squads drawn by the shouts were swiftly deprived of their lives the moment they entered the Hero Squad’s watch.
Lin Yu’s unimpeded mad dash was finally stopped as he neared the Lord’s Mansion.
The one who acted was a Catman hero. He had been looking down at the street below when Lin Yu charged right in front of him, aiming to slit his throat.
However, with a crisp DING, the Catman blocked the attack with a dagger.
Although the dagger shattered on impact, he seized the opportunity to pull his head back, dodging the fatal blow.
Realizing the immense disparity in their strength, the Catman immediately screamed, "Enemy attack!!!"
In the next moment, Lin Yu, who had already shot past, reappeared behind the Catman hero and sliced off his head.
This time, because Lin Yu swung his sword from behind, the Catman was unable to react and died cleanly.
’Looks like the time for silent reaping is over!’
’But that’s fine. We’re almost at the Lord’s Mansion anyway. I’ll use them to test my strength!’
From the Beastman Lord’s Mansion in the center of the city and its surrounding buildings, a large group of Beastman heroes charged out, swarming toward Lin Yu’s position.
Lin Yu stood quietly where the Catman had died, waiting for the Beastman heroes to assemble.
However, the number of Beastman heroes was somewhat more than he had expected.
A hero, also a Catman, saw the body at Lin Yu’s feet. His face changed, and he asked repeatedly, "Who are you? What happened to my brother, Mista?"
"You mean him?" Lin Yu nudged the Catman’s corpse on the ground with his foot.
Seeing the Catman hero’s expression turn even uglier, Lin Yu kicked the corpse up, sending it flying toward him.
After catching the headless body, the Catman hero began to weep silently.
Seeing this display of brotherly love, Lin Yu spread his hands. "My bad. Your brother was pretty sharp. He’s the only one on this whole trip who saw my attack and dodged it. If he hadn’t shouted, I might have spared him."
"Too bad he just had to shout. Nothing I could do. I had to send him on his way." ℯ
Lin Yu observed the heroes surrounding him and saw there were no fewer than a thousand. Judging by the energy fluctuations coming from them, their quality was quite good.
The lowest were Exceptional Tier, and there were quite a few of the Legendary Tier. He just didn’t know if there were any Mythical Tier heroes among them.
’It’d be great if there were a Mythical Tier Beastman hero. I could get a bit of a warm-up.’
"Hey! Who’s your leader? Come out and have a word!"
"Since you’ve all come out, how about we have a fight?"
