Global Lords: My Territory Heart Is a World Tree
Chapter 467 - 43: Grand Melee 2
Chapter 467: Chapter 43: Grand Melee 2
The Titan Race lords on the border were terrified by the Nuclear Crystal Beasts’ bizarre abilities the moment their defensive line was easily broken.
The Titan Race was strong in both physical offense and defense, but they had no experience dealing with such strange and varied supernatural attacks.
With the exception of a few less-than-brilliant lords, the rest assessed the situation and decisively abandoned their territories, fleeing inland with their armies.
They left in such a hurry that they didn’t even have time to ask for help in the chat channel.
However, a few lords did manage to post a warning in the chat channel.
Titan Race Chat Channel
Sic: "To all my fellow lords near the border, be warned: a massive horde of beasts is attacking from the east."
Sic: "These beasts are incredibly strong!!!"
...: "They’re attacking! Hos’s territory is about to fall!!!"
...: "This territory is mine! Don’t even think about taking it!"
...: "Mine!!"
But at that moment, the Titan Race’s Noble Lords and Civilian Lords were battling it out in the Central Region. The warnings were quickly buried in the flood of messages, attracting almost no attention.
The handful of lords who did see the messages didn’t pay them much mind. Since there were so few warnings, they figured the danger couldn’t be that great.
’It’s not like the danger was so great that no one had time to send a message, right?’
’The chances of that are too slim! Impossible!!’
Sic watched the chat channel scroll endlessly and wanted to post another warning.
"My lord, those beasts are fast! They’re closing in on us!"
"Let’s go! Forget the chat, head to our ally’s territory immediately!"
With that, Sic no longer had time to post warnings in the group chat. He hastily led his army toward the territory of an allied lord.
Thanks to his swift escape, he made it into his ally’s city before the Nuclear Crystal Beasts could catch him. They combined their forces and nervously defended against the beasts outside the walls.
Sic was one of the lucky ones. Most of the other lords who fled suffered heavy losses while being pursued by the Nuclear Crystal Beasts.
This was because the Nuclear Crystal Beasts were following the Crystal Core Giants’ orders not to occupy territories. They wouldn’t attack the cities themselves, but they would attack any living thing outside the city walls.
Ironically, the lords who were too foolish, timid, or simply lacked the courage to abandon their territory were unharmed, preserving most of their strength.
...
The Titan Race’s Noble and Civilian Lords, still fighting their war in the Central Region, only realized the dire situation in the east the next day, when they themselves were attacked by some fast-advancing Nuclear Crystal Beasts.
Although no territory had been occupied, the lords in the east had their forces decimated by the Nuclear Crystal Beasts’ attacks. Some unlucky lords even lost their lives while trying to flee.
Titan Race Chat Channel
Diados: "@Kazaria, we need a truce. If we don’t stop this war, I’m afraid the Titan Race will be the first to be completely eliminated."
Kazaria: "A truce is fine. As for the currently controlled territories, we split them fifty-fifty!"
Diados: "Don’t be so greedy. How much territory do you people even control right now? We give you half, and can you even defend it?"
Kazaria: "Hmph! The territories we each control are already pretty much split fifty-fifty. I just want to formalize the borders to make them easier to manage."
Diados: "Are you blind?"
Diados: "Can’t you see that we nobles still hold vast territories in the south and east?"
Diados: "How in the world do you see that as a fifty-fifty split?"
Kazaria: "The east and the south?"
Kazaria: "Hahaha, Your Highness, it seems your intelligence network is a bit lacking!"
Kazaria: "Do you really still think the southern region belongs to you?"
Kazaria: "It’s nothing but a pasture for those Slime Monsters!"
Kazaria: "As for the eastern region, maybe yesterday you could have called it your territory. But now? Now, it’s just a hunting ground for those beasts that swarmed in from the Eastern Continent."
Kazaria: "The south and the east can no longer be considered controlled territory!"
Kazaria: "The controlled territories I’m referring to are the Central Region, the west, and the north."
Kazaria: "Now look. Isn’t that a fifty-fifty split!"
Diados: "Even if what you say is true, why should we give you half?"
...
Prompted by Kazaria, the Noble Lords had to admit they had indeed lost control over the southern and eastern regions.
Although the territories there still technically belonged to many Noble Lords, their sphere of influence was now limited to within their city walls. They had lost control of most of the land outside.
The nobles didn’t argue the point. To reverse the unfavorable situation, they knew they had to make peace with the Civilian Lords.
However, they were unwilling to simply cede half of their territory.
To that end, they argued with the Civilian Lords in the chat channel for a long time, haggling back and forth.
But the Civilian Lords had nothing to lose. Led by Kazaria, they stuck to their guns, adamantly demanding half the territory.
In the end, to concentrate their forces against the external threat, the nobles had to swallow their pride and agree.
The two sides declared a truce, agreeing to launch a joint offensive against the Slime Monsters occupying the south and the Nuclear Crystal Beasts in the east to reclaim their lost territories.
Any territory reclaimed would belong to the one who reclaimed it.
...
Meanwhile, the Human Race and the Beast Race were locked in a stalemate on the Beastman Continent and in the southern region of the Human Race Continent.
The Human Race had long been at war with the Nuclear Crystal Beasts from the east, so they were already familiar with the Crystal Core Giants’ strategy.
Therefore, even before receiving the system notification, the Human Race Lords had collectively turtled in their fortifications, refusing to come out no matter how much the Beastmen outside taunted them.
