Global Lords: My Territory Heart Is a World Tree
Chapter 456 - 38: Anti-gravity Bomber (2)
Chapter 456: Chapter 38: Anti-gravity Bomber (2)
Shields using this technology could nullify the Gravity Field generated by a Gravity Cannon’s Gravity Bombs.
Udi wasn’t worried about this technology exposing him. Because the Gravity Cannon had existed for a long time in the history of the Titan Race, numerous technologies had been developed to counter it.
When Ryan saw that the Gravity Cannon was ineffective, he cursed, "Fuck! Anti-gravity technology!"
"Damn it. Just as I thought, an army sent by the nobility."
"Get the reserve troops up here! All wounded, fall back for treatment!"
After swapping out his forces, Ryan stopped firing the Gravity Cannon. He had his army stand silently on the city walls, waiting for the enemy’s advance.
Seeing this, Udi didn’t stand on ceremony and ordered his soldiers to charge the walls.
However, what happened next did not go as Udi had planned. Ryan’s army hadn’t been weakened by their earlier fight with the Slimes.
At least, in his eyes, Ryan’s soldiers, bolstered by the Temple Guards, were a cut above his own army.
’I’ve hit the jackpot. Another one pretending to be weak when they’re actually strong. It seems the Ryan Clan is much stronger than they let on!’
Seeing the situation, Udi understood that the opponent he had chosen was far stronger than his prior investigation had suggested.
After clashing for over ten minutes, Udi decisively withdrew his army.
He said a few words to a Messenger, who then hurried off into the forest.
Afterward, he had his army hold their large shields and wait below the city, no longer attacking.
Ryan wasn’t anxious when he saw this. He had the Temple Guards treat the wounded while he waited for the enemy to make their next move.
As both sides waited, a number of black discs slowly descended from the clouds.
The shadows cast by the flying devices put Ryan on alert. He looked up and immediately spotted the craft, which looked like UFOs.
"Anti-Gravity Flying Devices?"
However, he didn’t panic, merely ordering his soldiers to prepare for battle.
’What’s the plan? You can’t be thinking of throwing rocks or firing a Gravity Cannon from the sky, can you?’
As one of the intelligent species selected for the tournament, the Titan Race’s home world, after the advent of the "Super Anti-Gravity Engine," had successfully created aircraft capable of interplanetary flight, and naturally, also craft that could fly within the planet’s atmosphere.
These atmospheric craft were initially used for civilian purposes.
Some military researchers of the Titan Race had also tried to mount various weapons on them.
But the Titan Race’s ranged attack options were few and not particularly powerful. The only decent weapon they had was the Gravity Cannon in its various models, including the Super Gravity Cannon that fired Super Gravity Bombs.
However, mounting a Gravity Cannon on an Anti-Gravity Flying Device did not achieve the expected success.
The presence of a Gravity Cannon would interfere with the Anti-Gravity Engine, causing the flying device to crash.
In the end, after numerous studies, the most effective weapon developed for the Anti-Gravity Flying Device was... throwing rocks.
Under the influence of a powerful gravity effect, the rocks would be accelerated to an absurd speed, ultimately causing immense damage.
However, Ryan had been fighting Civilian Lords for so long, and his territory was equipped with a large-scale Anti-Gravity Barrier. Anything dropped from the sky would simply land gently.
So, seeing these flying devices, Ryan wasn’t the least bit flustered.
The Anti-Gravity Flying Devices in the sky opened a hatch in their centers, and countless small black dots fell out.
Ryan estimated the speed of the black dots and sneered, ’Tch... are they really just dropping rocks?’
’And this is their trump card?’
’Do they really think I’m one of those Civilian Lords?’
The small black dots fell at an extremely high speed. Just as they were about to reach the city, Ryan activated the Anti-Gravity Barrier at the perfect moment.
Under the barrier’s influence, the black dots’ speed rapidly decreased, and they eventually floated gently to the ground.
Ryan looked and discovered that these black dots, which looked like rocks, were actually made of metal.
After confirming they posed no immediate danger, Ryan picked one up from the ground to inspect it. "Heh, this metal ball is quite well-made. It’s even got decorative carvings on it!"
As Ryan toyed with it, a faint sound suddenly reached his ears.
He asked with curiosity, "Huh? Where’s that beeping sound coming from?"
The hero standing beside him heard the question and followed the sound to the metal ball in Ryan’s hand.
Feeling something was wrong, he immediately snatched the metal ball from Ryan’s hand and threw it far away.
Just then, the "BEEP BEEP" grew rapid, and all the "metal balls" on the ground exploded.
Flames, ice shards, Wind Blades, metal spikes, lightning... all sorts of elemental attacks erupted from where the "metal balls" had landed.
Ryan was also caught in the blast, but thankfully, the hero by his side protected him without a thought for their own safety.
Though he wasn’t injured, his hair was singed by the flames, and his face was blackened with soot.
"Attention! Don’t let those metal balls get down here! Knock them all away!"
The second wave of metal balls was already falling from the sky.
The city’s defenders had seen the explosions and heard Ryan’s command.
So, as the metal balls’ speed was nullified by the Anti-Gravity Barrier, they all swung their weapons, trying to bat them away.
The metal balls were knocked away, but before they could fly clear of the city, they exploded.
The explosions left all the soldiers covered in soot and grime, but thankfully, no one was injured.
A third wave of metal balls dropped from the Anti-Gravity Flying Devices in the sky.
The defending soldiers tried the same trick, wanting to knock the metal balls out of the city while their speed was reduced.
But this time, they weren’t so lucky. Just as their weapons were about to make contact with the metal balls, the balls exploded.
The pilots operating the Anti-Gravity Flying Devices in the sky had been constantly observing the effect of these Elemental Bombs.
These throwable Elemental Bombs had two explosion modes:
One: Impact detonation. When the bottom of the bomb experienced a violent collision, the Elemental Bomb would detonate.
Two: Timed detonation. A set time after being dropped, a timer inside the bomb would trigger the Elemental Bomb to detonate.
Ryan’s city had an Anti-Gravity Barrier, which prevented the first mode, impact detonation, from occurring.
All the dropped Elemental Bombs could only rely on timed detonation.
Through observation, the bombardiers continuously adjusted the timer durations.
The final result was that just as the defending soldiers were about to strike the Elemental Bombs, the bombs were already exploding in mid-air.
The defending soldiers were all wounded in this wave of explosions.
When the fourth wave of bombs arrived, the soldiers no longer dared to approach. They all hid behind cover, watching the bombs explode in the air, which prevented further casualties.
But the next bombs were different again.
The Anti-Gravity Flying Devices in the sky continued to drop their payloads, but the Elemental Bombs no longer exploded in unison.
Some exploded in mid-air, some exploded just before landing, and some would land on the ground and wait a moment before exploding.
This way, the defending soldiers hiding behind cover were helpless.
The Elemental Bombs that landed on the ground would destroy their cover and then inflict damage upon them.
Looking at his heavily damaged soldiers, Ryan finally, helplessly, ordered a retreat, abandoning his territory.
He had no choice. At the moment, he was just a punching bag, unable to strike back at the enemy.
As for leaving the city to attack the soldiers below, he hadn’t even considered it.
The enemy was positioned in front of the forest; a rash sortie might lead them right into an ambush.
The risk was too high!
’It’s better to preserve my forces and go snatch the territory of some Civilian Lord. That’s a much better deal!’
Besides Udi, the other lords who had pledged allegiance to Lin Yu were also making smooth progress.
Under the assault of the Anti-Gravity Flying Device and Elemental Bomb combination, the ordinary Titan Race Noble Lords who were attacked had no choice but to abandon their territories and seek refuge with the top-tier nobles, hoping to seize a Civilian Lord’s territory and stage a comeback.
The best outcome for the stubborn ones was capture after their armies were completely wiped out, but such people were virtually non-existent among the nobility.
On the other hand, a few of the attacked Civilian Lords ignored Kazaria’s orders and resisted stubbornly, hoping to hold on to their chance to change their fate. In the end, none of them fared well.
Most of the other attacked Civilian Lords gave up on defending their cities early on.
Because they knew that these attacking lords were in league with the Slime Monsters. Even if they withstood this wave of attacks, what awaited them was still an endless battle.
