Chapter 451: Chapter 36: The Increasingly Intense Battlefield (Part 2)
Their melee soldiers could finally go toe-to-toe with the Noble Lords’ melee soldiers.
With this weakness shored up, the Civilian Lords’ armies were no longer at a disadvantage against the Noble Lords’ armies.
In fact, because their melee troops could now hold the line, their elite ranged units could press the advantage.
And so, with the Temple Guards on their side, a large number of Civilian Lords stopped hiding and began to openly engage the Noble Lords in head-on confrontations.
...
Inside a conference room in Als Territory, the many lords who had sworn allegiance to Lin Yu waited quietly.
Suddenly, energy began to converge in the air, and a humanoid body formed from that energy appeared before everyone.
(World Tree Trait—Elemental Rule Manipulation)
Lin Yu projected his consciousness into the energy clone, and it opened its eyes.
(Forcefully attached via immense consciousness strength.)
Seeing Lin Yu appear, all the lords in the conference room rose to their feet.
"Greetings, my Lord!"
"Thank you for your hard work, my Lord!"
...
The lords all expressed their respect for Lin Yu.
"In this meeting, we will summarize the war situation with the Titan Race and then arrange our next steps."
"Al, you can start with the summary."
"Yes, my Lord!"
Al stood up and tapped a few controls in his hand. A rough topographical map of the Titan Race’s lands appeared in the conference room.
"First, this war between the Civilians and the Nobles has reached a fever pitch..."
In the early stages of the conflict, the Civilian Lords used Kazaria’s spatial teleportation abilities to launch a surprise attack on the top-tier nobles in the Central Region, just as the Noble Lords were trying to encircle and annihilate them.
The territories of nearly half the top-tier nobles were breached and subsequently occupied by the raiding Civilian Lords.
The Civilian Lords’ elite armies used these territories as a foothold to engage the Noble Lords in direct combat in the continent’s Central Region.
In the border regions, the Civilian Lords also launched large-scale offensives, conquering a significant number of territories.
Furthermore, early in the war, after Lin Yu noticed the Civilian Lords were at a disadvantage due to their small number of Temple Guards, he sold them some Divine Hall blueprints to help strengthen them.
As a result, the battlefield now looks like this: the Civilian Lords are on the offensive everywhere, while the Noble Lords are relying on their superior technology and city walls to defend.
Now that the Gravity Cannons are countered by the Temple Guards, the Noble Lords can only effectively defend by building even stronger Super-Gravity Cannons.
However, Super-Gravity Cannons aren’t as easy to build as Gravity Cannons, mainly because not many lords have mastered compressed graviton rock technology.
"So, the Noble Lords are now at a disadvantage. My Lord, should we offer them our support?"
Al asked Lin Yu in conclusion.
"You may. Send the Temple Guards you’ve built into battle, and publicize it. If the nobles ask, sell them some Divine Hall blueprints."
"As for the specifics, I’ll leave that to your discretion."
Next, the lords in the conference room began to discuss how to gain more benefits on the battlefield.
The lords sitting in the conference room at this moment included not only Noble Lords but also some Civilian Lords. With the exception of the lords from the buffer zone Lin Yu had created, most of the others were also participating in this war.
Through this exchange of information, the lords in the conference room secretly guided the course of the war, making the entire conflict even more intense.
Lin Yu rarely interfered with their actions. As long as it increased the intensity of the war, he was satisfied.
’Although, listening to these discussions, I can’t help but feel like some kind of final boss pulling the strings from behind the scenes.’
...
Al arrived at a battlefield where a city was under attack by Civilian Lords, bringing with him fifty thousand Heavy Armor Warriors (a technology acquired from territories conquered later on) and five thousand Temple Guards.
Standing on a hillside, Al gazed down at the besieged city and the several armies of the Civilian Lords, then calmly opened his chat channel.
Al (Private): "Si Yali, sweetie, I’m here to back you up! See my signal?"
Si Yali (Private): "Oh my god, I see you! I thought my path as a lord was over!"
Si Yali (Private): "BOOHOO~~ Big Brother Al, you’re my real big brother!"
Al (Private): "Don’t call me that, it sounds so distant. Call me ’sweetheart brother’!"
Al (Private): "Sweetie, everyone else is just hiding behind their walls right now. There aren’t many lords powerful enough to come to the rescue like me, you know."
Si Yali (Private): "Okay, okay, Big Brother~ I know you’re amazing!"
Si Yali (Private): "Big Brother Al, are you coming into the city? I can provide cover for you."
Al (Private): "No need. I’m very strong, remember?"
Al (Private): "Just draw their main force’s attention for me, and I’ll deal them a fatal blow."
Si Yali (Private): "Watch me!"
A short while later, troop movements began within the city below. Aside from the minimum forces required for defense, the rest were concentrated at the north gate.
Then, accompanied by the roar of Gravity Cannons, the city’s army threw open the gates and charged out, looking for all the world like they were trying to flee.
The Civilian Lord armies immediately adjusted their formation. A large number of the besieging troops converged on the north, for they had been laying siege for so long not just for the territory, but to capture or kill its lord.
For them, simply occupying territory wasn’t of great use. Only by eliminating as many Noble Lords as possible and ensuring more Civilian Lords advanced from this stage could they achieve the goals of their uprising.
The best-case scenario would be to prevent any of the Noble Lords from advancing at all. That would be pulling the rug out from under them completely.
