Global Lords: My Territory Heart Is a World Tree
Chapter 449 - 35: Invisible Gravity (2)
Chapter 449: Chapter 35: Invisible Gravity (2)
Within the white light, the poisonous mist was swiftly driven away, and the curses vanished without a trace.
Green grenades were tossed among the soldiers. In the ensuing green light, the injured, poisoned, and frenzied Human Race soldiers quickly calmed down, and their wounds healed rapidly.
Seeing that even the Eagle-men’s trump card had been ineffective, the Beastmen sullenly retreated on their commander’s orders.
The defenses here were too strong. Both the Eagle-man assault teams, who had been so successful in the past, and their new bombs had proven ineffective. It seemed they would have to find another way to break through.
Would Yuan Xiaobo let them leave just like that?
In the past, he would have. The Human Race soldiers didn’t dare leave the fortress to give chase, and the Spiritual Armored Soldiers didn’t dare strike out alone.
But not anymore!
The arrival of the Super Gravity Slimes filled Yuan Xiaobo with confidence about giving chase.
"Xuanjia, the pursuit is up to you! Cut off their tail! For days they’ve been shitting on our heads, and I’ve had enough."
"Now I’m going to ram it up their commander’s ass and eat some large intestine sashimi!!!"
"Commander Yuan, just watch us!"
As they spoke, the Super Gravity Slimes lined up beside the fortress’s catapults. Judging from the pristine lumber, the machines were all newly built.
One by one, the Super Gravity Slimes then filed into the catapults’ launch baskets and were hurled like stones toward the retreating Beastmen in the distance.
RUMBLE...
The sound of heavy objects crashing to the ground echoed continuously along the Beastmens’ path of retreat.
Launched from the catapults, the Super Gravity Slimes crashed heavily into the earth, instantly gouging out massive craters on impact.
Any ordinary Beastman unlucky enough to take a direct hit had a massive hole punched through their body, killing them instantly.
As for high-defense, high-health Beastmen like the Heavy Armored Minotaurs, a direct hit would send them flying and leave them half-dead, forced to retreat with the help of their comrades.
To ensure their impact was as devastating as a true catapult stone, the Super Gravity Slimes all refrained from using their abilities to dampen the force of their landing.
As a result, they were all left dazed and dizzy after crashing into the ground.
Passing Beastmen who recognized them as the culprits behind the earlier Gravity Walls would rush over to attack, but it was to no avail.
The Super Gravity Slimes were formed from the fusion and mutation of multiple max-level (Level 100) Bee Swarm Gluttonous Slimes, and their levels had not decreased after the transformation.
Furthermore, due to an increase in their tier, their level cap had risen to 200. Some Super Gravity Slimes, having been formed from a greater number of fused slimes, had even gained levels.
At a minimum of Level 100, a Super Gravity Slime’s base Defense Power was at least 10,000 points.
After the boost from their higher tier, the Defense Power of even the lowest-level Super Gravity Slime exceeded 30,000.
This far exceeded the damage these Beastmen could possibly inflict.
Once they recovered from their daze, they would fly up from the craters and unleash one Gravity Field after another, creating deadly zones along the Beastmens’ escape route.
No matter the type of Beastman, any who strayed too deep into these Supergravity Fields met the same fate—death!
Under the harassment of the Super Gravity Slimes, the Beastmens’ orderly retreat descended into chaos, forcing them to take each step with extreme caution.
The Beastman commander in the rear noticed this and, assuming it was a new form of attack by the Human Race, dispatched elite soldiers to provide backup.
However, trying to move in gravity at least five times stronger than normal, even elite Beastman soldiers struggled to walk. The weaker ones simply exploded, their blood serving to mark the boundaries of the Super Gravity Slimes’ Gravity Fields.
The retreating Beastman soldiers saw the bloodstains on the ground from a distance and steered clear.
This method of reinforcement, however, came at a cost that pained the Beastman commander to his very core.
He quickly roared, "Everyone, pull back! Use your heads! Throw stones! If you see a stone fall at the wrong speed, mark the spot!"
As expected of a commander, his intellect was a cut above. He quickly noticed the peculiarities within the Supergravity Fields and ordered his men to throw stones to locate the gravitational anomalies.
Under his direction, the locations of many Super Gravity Slimes’ Gravity Fields were successfully marked.
Even so, more than half of the Beastman soldiers retreating from the front line were lost.
After all the Beastmen had withdrawn, the Super Gravity Slimes even attempted to tail them and press an attack on the main Beastman Camp.
Within the Beastman Camp, the Wizards—whose appearances had been warped and disfigured by their long-term research into toxins, curses, and other dark Magic—were overjoyed at the sight.
Gesticulating wildly, they rushed to the front of the camp and unleashed a torrent of elemental, psionic, toxic, and curse-based attacks upon the Super Gravity Slimes, as if they cost nothing.
The Super Gravity Slimes expanded their Gravity Fields in response. The trajectories of some attacks were deflected by the intense gravity, causing them to harmlessly strike the ground.
Other attacks, however, were not affected by gravity. This was especially true for curses, which passed through the Gravity Fields unimpeded and struck the leading Super Gravity Slime directly.
"Weaken," "Confuse," "Blind"... Afflicted by a chaotic jumble of curses, the leading Super Gravity Slime was immediately thrown into disarray.
Fortunately, the Super Gravity Slimes were currently empowered by a hive mind, making each individual slime akin to a single part of a larger organism.
To the collective consciousness, a cursed Super Gravity Slime was like a hand afflicted with Alzheimer’s, trembling uncontrollably.
It was out of control, but it didn’t affect the collective as a whole.
It seemed the Super Gravity Slimes had met their match.
Back in their territory, they had tested their magic resistance and found they could handle elemental attacks, since most of those had a physical component. They could also easily shrug off the few debuffs that directly affected a target.
However, the World Tree Territory had no units specializing in curses, so no such tests had been run. They never expected that a large number of curses could cause them such extraordinary harm.
Because of their unified consciousness, some curses even affected the entire collective directly.
Fortunately, the strength of their fused and amplified consciousness was incredibly high, so the individual impact of the curses wasn’t obvious. However, they couldn’t hold up against the sheer number of Beastman Wizards and Priests who specialized in such attacks.
As more and more Super Gravity Slimes fell under the influence of the curses, the slime army ultimately chose to retreat.
The afflicted slimes were carried back by the others using gravitational control.
Seeing the black spheres—which they had repelled with their combined efforts—fall back, the Priests and Wizards retreated in satisfaction.
Normally, due to their limited range, Beastman commanders kept these valuable assets to the rear, afraid they would be picked off by the Human Race’s gunnery units. The Priests and Wizards could usually only provide buffs from the back lines and concoct poison and curse vials.
Now, they had finally gotten to fight a proper battle, even if the enemy was few in number and rather abstract in appearance (black spheres).
But the fact that these enemies could harry their entire retreating army from behind meant they were quite formidable. And yet, they had been driven off in short order.
Having proven their own strength, their pent-up frustration eased considerably.
The retreating Super Gravity Slimes quickly returned to the fortress, where the curses afflicting them were cleansed by the Spiritual Armed Forces’ Purification Grenades.
Along the way, a few overconfident Beastmen tried to take advantage of their retreat. Unfortunately for them, they underestimated the Super Gravity Slimes and overestimated themselves, serving only to add a few more vengeful souls to the slimes’ tally.
In the battles that followed, the Super Gravity Slimes were constantly deployed to various fronts via cannon carriages or catapults, leaving a trail of wailing Beastmen wherever they went.
The Super Gravity Slimes’ immense Defense Power, combined with their invisible, intangible, and extremely powerful gravity abilities, made them unstoppable against physical-based Beastman warriors.
Furthermore, with their movements perfectly synchronized by the hive mind’s amplification, they were truly a force to be reckoned with.
Only a sufficient concentration of Beastman Wizards and Priests skilled in curses could hope to stop them.
Later, after Yuan Xiaobo assigned elite Spiritual Armored Soldiers—equipped with a large supply of Purification Grenades—to support them, the Super Gravity Slimes moved through the Beastman ranks as if they were treading on empty land.
Through their combined efforts, the defenses constructed by the Beastmen were shattered one by one, and the entire battlefield shifted into the Beastman Territory itself.
Eager to snatch up territory, the Human Race Lords went into a killing frenzy.
For their part, the Beastmen fought with equal desperation—to kill more humans for their sacrifices and to defend their own lands.
The intensity of the war between the Human Race and the Beastmen instantly escalated by several degrees.
