Outside the Black Salt Mine, the police officers, Lin Yu, and the others stood in an open area, watching as several "Lingji-35" multi-functional armed hovercars from the Cuiwei Corps Emergency Services flew off with the Hass Clan’s soldiers.

"Aren’t you guys afraid of retaliation from the Hass Clan?" the young police officer asked, looking at Lin Yu and the others with curiosity. He had just looked up Lin Yu and Li Hua’s information in the backend database.

Due to his insufficient clearance, he couldn’t access all the details, but he did find out they were both Tier Three Lords with families on Cuiwei Star. They weren’t just some lone wolves. ’Aren’t they afraid of the Hass Clan retaliating against their families?’

"Heh, what are you talking about? We just accidentally injured some of the Hass Clan’s soldiers, that’s all. So what if they find out? The worst that can happen is we pay them some compensation!"

Lin Yu said dismissively. He now understood that Lords weren’t as powerless as the propaganda made them out to be. As a Tier Three Lord, his status wasn’t exactly high up in the Human Race, but it certainly wasn’t low, either.

Seeing their nonchalant attitude, as if they didn’t understand the gravity of the situation, the young officer pursed his lips. He stepped aside, took out his communicator, and typed out a message.

「Hass Manor.」

Opal Hass’s personal butler walked briskly into his office.

"How did the operation go? Did they catch Li Hua?" Opal Hass asked.

"Sir, there’s been a problem!" the butler said, his head bowed as he delivered the bad news.

"What is it?"

"A patrol officer from Black Salt City sent a message to our clan’s hotline. He said the squad we dispatched to the Black Salt Mine was captured and has been taken away by the Cuiwei Corps Emergency Services."

"What? Not only did they fail to capture Li Hua, but they also got taken to the Cuiwei Corps’s garrison?"

Opal Hass was so furious he nearly spat blood. His meticulously built Extraordinary Team! He was planning to use this operation to show off their combat strength to the old timers in the clan and apply for more funding, and now they’d been captured just like that? ’What the hell were they doing, eating shit?’

Opal Hass took a deep breath, suppressing his fury and forcing himself to think rationally.

’Why would Emergency Services take away Conley and his Extraordinary Squad?’

’Conley’s group is just an ordinary Extraordinary Squad, aren’t they? They’re no match for the Cuiwei Corps at all!’

’No, that’s not right. They aren’t ordinary. I created them with symbiotes. Every single member is bonded with one.’

’So, the Corps wants to find out the true effects of the symbiotes I brought back?’

’In that case, it’s fine. Not a huge problem.’

"Never mind them," he said aloud. "To be the first to report success, I had the approval process rushed. The Corps is probably just wary of the symbiotes, so they’ve taken them in for testing. They’ll be released once the tests are complete. I doubt the people at Emergency Services would dare to harm my men."

"The main priority now is to capture Li Hua. That Cultivation Manual he submitted is too difficult. I refuse to believe there aren’t other methods to aid cultivation."

"Honestly, why doesn’t the Corps just sell Cultivation Manuals directly? Wouldn’t it be better if we all had a shot at reaching the Extraordinary Territory level?"

As Opal Hass was still pondering how to capture Li Hua, Eye Demon Marcus on his left hand opened its eye. It had heard Opal Hass’s words and knew that if Conley and the others were truly taken away to be experimented on, it would be a disaster.

And so, it had to push its tendrils deeper into Opal Hass’s brain. A stream of Spiritual Energy interference flowed through its neural-mimicking tendrils and into Opal Hass’s mind.

Opal Hass trailed off. "Forget about Li Hua for now!"

"Huh?" The butler, his head still bowed, glanced up slightly.

’Hasn’t the young master been completely focused on the cultivation method that Lord Li Hua has for the past few days? Why is he suddenly dropping it?’

"Immediately mobilize my security teams. Have them intercept the Emergency Services’ hovercars at once. We absolutely cannot let them take Conley’s team out of Black Salt City. If necessary, kill Conley."

"What?" The butler was stunned. He never thought his young master would be so audacious as to go after the Cuiwei Corps Emergency Services.

"What are you ’what’-ing for? Go, now! If you waste any time and let them get out of Black Salt City, I’ll hold you personally responsible."

"Yes, sir!"

Back at the Black Salt Mine, Lin Yu and the others had remained at the scene. A forensic team that arrived later carried the dead Lizard-men out into the open area.

After a preliminary examination, the bodies would be taken back to the station for a full autopsy. These Lizard-men were all on tourist visas and were considered aliens who had entered legally, so an official cause of death had to be determined.

"Hm? The visas for your companions... they were all sponsored by the Hass Clan?" the young police officer asked, having noticed something during his inspection.

"That’s right!"

"Then what about those men from before?" the young officer asked, confused. ’If both parties are connected to the Hass Clan, why would they be fighting each other?’

"I have no idea. They were supposed to be our bodyguards, but then they just attacked us for some reason."

Vincent’s words made the young officer’s stomach clench. He was starting to regret sticking his nose where it didn’t belong by messaging the Hass Clan’s hotline. ’This is clearly the Hass Clan’s internal conflict,’ he thought. ’By getting involved like this, there’s no telling what kind of trouble I’ll face later.’

But it was too late for regrets. The message was sent. He just didn’t know which faction within the clan had received it.

BOOM—

Suddenly, the sound of a massive explosion echoed from the horizon.

Everyone turned toward the sound and saw that an explosion had erupted in the distant sky.
