Chapter 1012: Unreliable Saintess_6

“Saintess, something feels wrong.” Lauren, clad in armor, said coldly, “The hostility of these people suggests they aren’t here with good intentions.”

He himself is an expert in the army, an elite among elites. Although he cannot perform magic, his strength is not weak; in one-on-one situations, he can slay an average demon, which is why Takka specifically sent him to protect Linda.

Immediately.

A group of cavalry clad in black armor and wearing black masks appeared before them, brandishing weapons as they charged forward with a fierce wind, accompanied by dozens of fireballs.

Linda also realized these people were not just ill-intentioned; they sought to cut them down and toss them into the river.

“Who would send people to kill us?” she wondered, full of confusion, unable to fathom how anyone in the Empire would attempt to ambush them.

This is utterly unreasonable.

This act not only aims to kill her but also to doom the entire Empire, as she is now the Saintess of the All Beings Sect, representing the Divine Spirit.

Lauren made a quick decision, knowing they couldn’t allow Linda to die here or it would spell disaster, and decisively shouted:

“Saintess, you go first, I’ll hold them off with the others!”

The people he brought charged without hesitation. Although they were greatly outnumbered, they showed no fear.

Linda did not immediately flee but instead whispered a spell, waving her magic staff. A massive fireball coalesced in front of her, shooting forth, blasting between the approaching cavalry, knocking four or five off their horses.

As a disciple of Takka, she’s far from being just a pretty face; she is an excellent mage, possessing magical talents that even Kata admired, believing her future achievements would be at least that of a Magic Master.

“We can’t escape! Let’s fight them!” Linda shouted, her skirt fluttering in the wind, as two more massive fireballs flew out with her gestures, crashing into the cavalry.

The fireballs caused not insignificant damage, but the sheer number of cavalry was overwhelming. They hadn’t anticipated an ambush on the road, so they didn’t bring vast power.

There were quite a few accompanying mages, twenty or thirty, but they were of notable status yet lacked strength; powerful mages needed to defend Viduo City.

The situation turned critical.

Should the cavalry reach them, these mages feared that they would be cut down in no time.

Lauren’s group clashed with the black-armored cavalry, matched in strength but too few in number; after one wave of assault, only half remained, unable to halt the enemy’s charge.

“Damn it!” Lauren spun his horse around and charged again.

Seeing the black-armored cavalry about to overrun them, being the Saintess of the All Beings Sect, Linda instinctively thought of the God, crying out in her heart: “Help, help, help!”

Su Changxing heard the plea, twitching his eyelids and feeling somewhat overwhelmed, considering this generation of followers less self-sufficient compared to the previous ones.

Nobu and the others could independently expand their faith and amplify the All Beings Sect without requiring his intervention.

Suddenly, Linda’s eyes widened as a beam of light shot down from the sky, disappearing after it hit her, immediately causing a strange transformation.

The previously indifferent and sluggish magic elements suddenly turned amicable and nimble; she could move them with mere intent.

Bright white light flickered between Linda’s eyes as her magic power, bolstered by faith, skyrocketed, igniting white flames all around—on the ground, on her garments, on her skin—with a sacred aura.

More than ten white fireballs gathered before her, requiring no chanting, just a thought, swiftly unleashing magic.

This is the level only a Great Mage can achieve.

Such a status both astonished and fascinated her, deepening her understanding of magic.

“Receive the wrath of the God!”

Linda shouted, something she definitely couldn’t have said ordinarily, yet it naturally came out in this state, slipping off her tongue.

Over ten white-flame-imbued fireballs hurtled toward the approaching black cavalry.

“What is that?” The black-armored cavalry wondered, having never seen a mage cast white fireballs, as flames shouldn’t be white.

“Kill!”

The black cavalry showed no fear, only thirty meters from Linda, requiring just two or three seconds to close the gap.

Victory seemed certain.

Or so they thought.

White flames exploded within the cavalry, exhibiting unimaginable power, piercing through black armor, destroying their bodies. The explosion’s range was unimaginably vast; over ten fireballs almost blanketed the bulk of the cavalry.

Everyone present was stunned at the scene before them.

Lauren halted, witnessing Linda’s wave of magic reducing the cavalry to a third, with the remaining forty to fifty being scattered by panicked horses.

These were well-trained warhorses, fierce and unyielding, fighting to their last breath without retreating.

Linda was also shocked by the fireballs she released, striking such formidable power and causing her to halt, the fireballs she was forming also dissipating.

This power was overwhelmingly terrifying; she felt a slight slip-up could lead to loss of control, “Is this the power of the Divine Spirit?”

She was taken aback, realizing their previous studies on the God were inadequate.

This was a more fundamental power, far exceeding magic.

Other mages on the scene cast shocked glances, as such potent power matched the level of a Great Mage.

“Linda, how did you do it?” Roy, also a disciple of Takka, only fourteen, still physically immature, appeared a small, polite boy with a shocked and admiring look towards Linda.

Linda hesitated a moment before saying, “This is the power of the God.”

“The God?” Roy gasped, immediately grabbing Linda’s left hand and asking, “Can I become a Saintess too?”

Linda looked indifferently at her seemingly dim-witted junior, “What do you think?”

Roy, dejected, complained, “Alright, probably not. It’s not fair!”

The power Linda just wielded originates from the Blazing White Demon, stolen by Su Changxing and projected to Linda through faith as a medium.

This maneuver falls within the realm of divine capabilities. If elsewhere, Su Changxing plainly couldn’t achieve it, yet in the Pocket Galaxy, it’s possible.

In this space, his faith transmission incurs no loss and is extremely swift and precise, accomplishing such high-difficulty maneuvers. Though he may not be a true divine being, with the Pocket Galaxy in hand, he is a true God to this world.

He increasingly confirmed the Pocket Galaxy was a Divine Country created by a fallen god in history.

After a god’s death, their Divine Country naturally declines, and the Pocket Galaxy now represents a civilization formed from the Divine Country’s decline and destruction, ushering in a new civilization.

Being in a closed space, devoid of divine interference, it formed no belief system, leading this world’s civilization along an extreme path.
