Chapter 341: Chapter 209: Supply Ships Arrive, Unsealed for Work (Part 2)
Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. "We can lift the quarantine. Notify Xin Wan and Lin Mu. For now, don’t schedule too much work for them."
Xin Wan was in charge of logistics and supplies, and Lin Mu handled agriculture. The base’s primary work currently revolved around these two areas, so it was natural to inform them.
"Yes, Leader!" Hua Lingfang replied. She then sent a message to both Xin Wan and Lin Mu, attaching a screenshot of Ren Yuanyang’s approval.
"Received!" Xin Wan herself responded immediately.
Soon, the news of the quarantine being lifted was announced!
The supply ship erupted in excitement!
"We’re finally out of quarantine! Did we really beat this virus in just a little over a day?"
"It looks like it. Our medicine is incredible! Every patient was cured, with not a single death. The recovery rate is unbelievably high! It’s a miracle!"
"Our bodies weren’t weak to begin with, and with the base’s miraculous herbs, it’s no surprise we could do it."
"Not weak? How can you say that? If we were so strong, why were we sold by Dawn Base to Xi’an Base?"
"No, you’re misunderstanding me. What I mean is, compared to before the flood, every single one of us is in better shape than the average person was back then. Anyone who wasn’t physically fit was weeded out in the first four months. We’re only a bit weaker compared to the other survivors who are still around."
"That does make some sense!"
"Enough chit-chat. Time to get to work!"
The people on the supply ship happily disembarked and resumed their tasks: producing various fuels, harvesting crops, and processing and portioning out medicinal herbs...
Qin Haonan led the empty supply ships back, taking over four hours to return to Peach Blossom Base.
These were all large vessels, and their speed was painfully slow.
By the time they arrived back at Peach Blossom Base, it was already lunchtime.
Watching the five large ships approach, the members who had returned to their own supply ship for lunch were stunned.
"What’s going on? Is another base coming to attack us?"
"No way! I’ve only just had a few peaceful days. Don’t tell me we’re facing another war!"
"They don’t look like combat vessels."
Amidst the crowd’s discussion, an announcement came over the supply ship’s broadcast system.
"Everyone, do not panic. Those are supply ships from the Aircraft Carrier Base. They are here to trade with us. No combat forces are accompanying them!"
Hearing this announcement, everyone immediately relaxed.
"Oh, so they’re supply ships from the Aircraft Carrier Base!"
"Our base is just that strong! We’re already starting to sell supplies to outsiders!"
"Of course! We produce so much fuel every day, we can’t possibly use it all ourselves!"
"All right, everyone, hurry up and get lunch. Our next goal is to fill all of these supply ships to the brim!" Si Youqin’s voice sounded over the broadcast again.
"Yes, ma’am!" the people shouted in unison, then flooded into the dining hall.
Meanwhile, Qin Haonan headed straight back to the base office, arriving just in time for lunch.
"Leader, those supply ships are way too slow. It’d be great if we could find a way to speed them up!" Qin Haonan couldn’t help but complain.
"Slow as they are, you still made it back for lunch, didn’t you?" Ren Yuanyang replied with a smile, then turned to Xin Wan and the others. "Now that we have these five large mobile warehouses, you can all go into full production!"
Xin Wan and the others all nodded in agreement.
"Leader, can we put the prisoners from Xi’an Base to work now?" Lu Jiamei asked.
Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. "Yes. We need to produce a lot of fuel this time, so we’ll definitely need more manpower. However, that might put more pressure on you!"
Lu Jiamei was in charge of base security. Releasing so many people at once would indeed create some pressure.
Lu Jiamei smiled slightly. "Don’t worry, Leader. We’re all Evolvers now, and we’re well-armed. They won’t be able to cause any trouble!"
"Good. If any of them break the rules, kill them. Don’t hesitate," Ren Yuanyang replied.
"Yes, sir!" Lu Jiamei responded.
"Leader, having so many people crowded into the Banyan Forest is affecting production efficiency," Hua Lingfang suggested from the side. "I recommend we move the raw materials onto the supply ships and conduct production there. That way, fewer people will need to enter the Banyan Forest, and the fuel produced can be stored directly on the ships, which also saves us from having to transport it."
Ren Yuanyang’s eyes lit up. "Excellent idea. We can spread them out across the five ships. We’ll only need to assign a few people to come down and move the raw materials up!"
The others nodded in agreement.
"Jiamei, help Xin Wan and her team with the personnel assignments," Ren Yuanyang instructed.
"Yes, sir!" Lu Jiamei replied in a serious tone.
After lunch, Lu Jiamei and Xin Wan went to the supply ship where the prisoners from Xi’an Base were being held.
When James saw them, he immediately stood up and greeted them. "Minister Lu, Minister Xin, do you have any orders for us?"
Lu Jiamei nodded slightly. "From now on, all of you will participate in labor to earn points. In the future, you’ll have to exchange points for your food!"
Upon hearing this, James and the others were taken aback for a moment, then they all nodded in acknowledgment.
Although they were currently receiving food every day without having to work, they were all very worried. No base would keep feeding a group of people who did nothing!
They were terrified that one day Peach Blossom Base would give up on them and cut off their food and water.
On the contrary, hearing that they could earn their food through labor actually put them somewhat at ease, though they were a little worried they wouldn’t be able to earn enough.
"But let me be blunt: if any of you dare to violate the rules of Peach Blossom Base, you will be killed without mercy!" Lu Jiamei said coldly, her gaze sweeping over the crowd.
"Please rest assured, Leader and Ministers. We will absolutely follow the base’s rules and will never betray the base!" James replied at once.
Lu Jiamei nodded slightly. "Just manage yourselves well. And don’t forget the rule of collective punishment!"
"Yes, I remember!" James answered respectfully.
"Good. You have ten minutes. Split yourselves evenly into five teams!" Lu Jiamei said before turning and leaving the hold.
Des immediately began organizing the personnel while James spoke loudly to the group. "I don’t need to say much about how Peach Blossom Base has treated us. Everyone here has seen it for themselves. I just want to remind you all that we would never receive this kind of treatment at any other base. If you want to live a better life, then just do as Peach Blossom Base asks, honestly and diligently!"
James paused, then continued, "If you find anyone getting restless or having funny ideas, you must expose them immediately. We can’t let one person ruin this good future we have! Remember, we are a single group, and we will be punished collectively!"
"Yes!" the crowd shouted in unison.
Soon, the five teams were formed. James came out and reported to Lu Jiamei, "Minister Lu, we’ve divided into teams!"
"Good. Bring them out in order and distribute them evenly among the other five large ships," Lu Jiamei replied with a nod.
James was slightly taken aback, but then he immediately responded, "Yes, ma’am!"
When the prisoners were brought up to the deck, they all took a deep breath!
Even though it was still raining and the sun was nowhere to be seen, the air outside was the air of freedom.
The prisoners from Xi’an Base were split into five groups and dispersed among the five supply ships.
Lu Jiamei emphasized again, "You are free to move about on your respective ships, but you are not allowed to disembark unless you have a task. Also, you must not damage anything on the ships."
"Yes, ma’am!" the prisoners replied excitedly.
Although it wasn’t complete freedom, they were at least free on the ship. It was much better than being stuck in the hold!
After the personnel had been assigned, Lu Jiamei said to Xin Wan, "I’ll leave the rest to you!"
Xin Wan nodded and immediately had Si Youqin and her team explain the fuel extraction work to James and his people.
A few people were sent to each supply ship to explain the process and provide on-site guidance.
After listening to Si Youqin’s explanation, James was stunned and couldn’t help but ask, "Fuel extraction? Are we extracting cooking oil?"
Si Youqin glanced at him and shook her head. "No. We’re extracting fuel for naval vessels, aircraft carriers, and planes!"
"What? How is that possible? How can you produce heavy fuel oil and jet fuel from plants?" James’s eyes went wide. He clearly knew that the fuel used by aircraft carriers and planes was different from what ordinary speedboats used.
"At our base, anything is possible," Si Youqin replied coolly. Then she continued, "Swallow your surprise. First, I need some of you to come with me and bring up the raw materials. Then we can begin work!"
