Chapter 319: Chapter 200: Research Ships and Trust Issues

Long Zhan was a bit taken aback when he received Ji Yizhi’s message.

"Send supply ships over? I didn’t think we had many supplies to send."

Ji Yizhi explained further, and Long Zhan finally understood.

"Oh, so that’s the plan! Understood. I’ll secure Dawn Base as quickly as possible. The empty supply ships can head straight for it afterward!"

Ji Yizhi couldn’t help but remind him, "Don’t get careless. Xi’an Base is not to be underestimated."

"I know, but we’re not the same as we were a century ago!" Long Zhan declared emphatically.

Ji Yizhi nodded slightly. "Yes. Just be careful. The supply convoy has already set out."

"Alright," Long Zhan replied.

After hanging up, Long Zhan immediately turned to the aide beside him. "How much longer until we reach Dawn Base?"

"At our current cruising speed, it will take approximately twenty-two more hours. We should arrive at Dawn Base around 0800 tomorrow," the aide replied instantly.

Long Zhan nodded, pondering for a moment. He picked up his phone and sent a message to Ren Yuanyang: "Brother Yang, what’s the situation over at Dawn Base?"

In reality, he had already gotten an update from Wang Jun. This was purely an excuse to foster a better relationship with Ren Yuanyang.

Ren Yuanyang replied with a smile, "I haven’t spotted any more ships heading over for now. If there’s any unusual activity, I’ll notify you immediately."

"I’ll be counting on you, then!" Long Zhan replied. "Once we’ve taken Dawn Base, you’ll have to come and visit me more often!"

"Definitely!" Ren Yuanyang readily agreed. "And if you get the chance, you’re welcome to visit our base as well!"

Long Zhan’s eyes lit up. "Absolutely! I’d love that."

Just then, Ren Yuanyang suddenly received a message from Qin Haonan.

"Chief, two more large ships are heading toward Dawn Base. They look different from the others. We didn’t dare get too close, so we can’t get a clear look!"

"Do you have a photo of their general silhouettes?" Ren Yuanyang replied immediately.

Soon, Qin Haonan sent over a photo showing only a vague silhouette.

Of course, Ren Yuanyang couldn’t identify the specific type of ship, so he sent the photo directly to a group chat. This group consisted of only himself, Wang Jun, and two other captains.

"Our scout spotted two large ships approaching Dawn Base. The two haven’t engaged in combat, so they were likely also dispatched by Xi’an Base."

"I’ll have the intelligence department analyze it at once!" Wang Jun spoke up immediately, forwarding the photo to his intelligence division.

"I was just asking about the situation at Dawn Base, and something new is already happening?" Long Zhan said with a laugh.

"Based on their general silhouettes, they don’t look like combat vessels," Ji Yizhi commented.

"It doesn’t matter. Even if they are combat ships, they only have ten in total. We still have them vastly outnumbered!" Long Zhan said, unfazed.

At that moment, Ren Yuanyang suddenly felt that he was still short on high-level operatives.

If he’d sent Yu Ren to handle reconnaissance, Yu Ren could have approached them from underwater and captured detailed, close-up images of the two ships.

But there was a group of Evolver prisoners back at Peach Blossom Base that needed a powerful guard, and currently, only Yu Ren could handle such an important task.

Ren Yuanyang himself could do it, of course, but he had to enhance various plants and animals, find time to study ancient texts, and focus on his Cultivation. He couldn’t possibly stay on a supply ship to stand guard all the time.

Just as he was pondering how to quickly increase the strength of his subordinates, the Aircraft Carrier Base’s intelligence department came back with their conclusion.

"Based on the general silhouettes, there’s an eighty percent probability they’re freighters, likely for transporting personnel and supplies," Wang Jun posted in the group chat.

Ren Yuanyang frowned slightly. "Moving in personnel and supplies right after capturing the place? Why are they in such a hurry?"

"It’s probably for experiments," Ji Yizhi speculated. "Dawn Base has no other strategic value, but its population makes for a ready supply of test subjects."

Ren Yuanyang was taken aback for a moment, then nodded.

Dawn Base had few resources; it even had to buy water from Xi’an Base. As for its ships, they were somewhat useful, but most surviving bases weren’t particularly lacking in vessels, so the demand wasn’t that pressing.

Therefore, it was highly likely that Xi’an Base attacked Dawn Base for its population.

And with living space and food being so limited, Xi’an Base certainly wouldn’t support this new population for free. They were most likely intended for experiments with the Evolution Potion.

Ren Yuanyang frowned slightly. "Captain Long, what’s your ETA?"

"Another twenty-two hours," Long Zhan replied, sounding a bit helpless. "These large ships are just too slow!"

"Then all we can do is wish them luck," Ren Yuanyang said, shaking his head.

Wang Jun thought for a moment before asking, "Brother Yang, if someone were injected with one of those imperfect Evolution Potions and immediately drank the licorice soup you provide, would they have a chance of surviving?"

"If they could drink a large amount and their body absorbed it quickly enough, then theoretically, yes," Ren Yuanyang replied after a moment of thought. "They might even become an Evolver."

The primary ingredients of the Evolution Potion are extracted from rainwater. As long as the licorice soup is used to mitigate its volatility, the human body has a chance to complete the evolution.

"In that case, I’ll have to ask you to prepare some licorice soup, Brother Yang," Wang Jun said in a low voice. "We’ll calculate the price in seeds."

"Alright," Ren Yuanyang agreed with a nod. "Let’s hope Sea Eagle Country has already developed a preliminary method for mitigating the potion’s volatility. Otherwise, you won’t be in time to save the people of Dawn Base."

"Yes... just as you said, all we can do is wish them luck," Wang Jun sighed helplessly.
