Global Awakening: I'm the Only One Ready

Chapter 608. Future Crisis, Despair Approaches

  • Next Chapter

Lu Yuan had already sensed what was coming. Even with his current strength, or after growing stronger still, stopping the chaos would be extremely difficult once the Extracosmic Heavenly Demons descended in force. He was certain of one thing though.

These enemies were truly powerful.

Among them, there were likely many figures who surpassed the Supreme Immortal Realm.

He possessed a strand of the Human Sovereign Celestial Emperor's power, but he could use it only once and had to reserve it for the most critical moment. It could not stop every calamity.

His line of thought was simple. The very first force sent by the Extracosmic Heavenly Demons had already included twelve figures comparable to Celestial Seat Immortals. Those who came later would only be stronger. There was also the bizarre death of the Mohe Starfield's Starfield Lord.

That incident had happened too quickly and too suddenly, but whoever had acted was undoubtedly terrifying.

Otherwise, how could someone silently kill such an existence?

If such a figure descended, just how powerful would they be?

All Lu Yuan could do was prepare as thoroughly as possible. The final outcome was beyond his control.

Beside him, Jiang Ningxian fell into thought. She knew the enemies they would face this time surpassed anything that had come before.

It was true that the Extracosmic Heavenly Demons who had descended had all been killed, but the invaders had been only minor figures. The truly powerful experts had yet to descend, and those were figures who surpassed even her father.

The black altar and the mist constantly seeping from it proved that this world's laws were being changed. Once that transformation reached a certain point, the true experts would appear.

When that happened, the battle would not end so easily. Jiang Ningxian understood this clearly.

Yet they had no way to deal with the black altar. They could only take every precaution available and, no matter how powerful the enemies to come might be, face them head-on and do everything they could.

"Let us go back." Lu Yuan watched for a while and knew the Extracosmic Heavenly Demons would not descend again for the time being.

He opened another spatial passage and departed with Zhu Qingyu and the others.

Meanwhile, denser mist began pouring from the black altar, as though whoever stood behind it had sensed the deaths of the thirteen Extracosmic Heavenly Demons. Their initial plan had suffered a tremendous setback, so they accelerated their preparations.

Far away, on a dead and desolate star in the cosmic borderlands, countless spatial currents surged without end. The world was profoundly hostile to life.

Violent energies churned through the spatial currents, powerful enough to tear everything apart. Even a Sage who descended upon this planet would probably be torn apart in an instant.

Only Immortals could barely survive upon it.

Despite the lethal environment, two majestic figures sat cross-legged there.

Strands of black runes coiled around them as peerlessly terrifying auras spread outward. Any stars caught within those auras collapsed into black holes in an instant.

The power of these two figures was clear from the sight alone.

The two seemed immersed in some special state, unaware of everything happening outside. After a time, one of them opened his eyes.

"News just arrived. The Forsaken Heaven Clan's first batch of pure-blooded clansmen descended, but they were killed soon afterward," he said with visible astonishment on his face.

"Could Jiang Taiyu and the others have acted? But that doesn't seem right. Did I not give orders before? All the Teleportation Dao Platforms around the Milky Way Starfield were to be destroyed. Logically speaking, they could not have reached Earth that quickly."

The speaker was the Ji Clan's Starfield Lord, also known as the Ziwei Starfield Lord. He ruled over the entire Ziwei Starfield and was one of the strongest figures in the Xuanhuang Cosmos, a true Supreme Immortal.

The news that the Forsaken Heaven Clan's people had been killed so soon after descending left him shocked and incredulous.

He guessed that a figure like Jiang Taiyu had gone to Earth and acted, but he also felt this was unlikely. The surrounding Teleportation Dao Platforms should have all been destroyed.

"I don't know either, but it should not have been Jiang Taiyu or the others. They have been held back. The death of the Mohe Starfield Lord definitely drew their attention. They could not possibly have gone to Earth."

The other figure, the Starfield Lord of the Eternals, sounded equally puzzled. If Jiang Taiyu and the others were not responsible, then who had killed those pure-blooded clansmen of the Forsaken Heaven Clan?

"Forget it. What did the Forsaken Heaven Clan say?"

The Starfield Lord of the Eternals knew there was no point dwelling on the question. The matter had already happened and could not be changed. What mattered now was how the Forsaken Heaven Clan intended to respond.

The Ji Clan's Starfield Lord hesitated as he relayed the order, clearly reluctant to comply.

"They want us to descend to Earth and resolve every problem there." The Ji Clan's Starfield Lord thought briefly, then continued, "Anyone capable of killing those people must be formidable. Their strength is probably already close to the peak of Heaven Rank, which means they are nearing the Supreme Immortal Realm. Otherwise, this would have been impossible. Only you and I can handle it."

The Starfield Lord of the Eternals began, "Our seclusion has reached a critical moment. Although we have surpassed the Heaven Rank and entered the Quasi-Emperor Realm, our cultivation has not fully stabilized. Acting now could cause problems.

"Moreover, it was not easy to make Jiang Taiyu and the others temporarily overlook us. If we act rashly..."

Clearly, he was reluctant to leave as well.

The Quasi-Emperor Realm was a terrifying level no one in the Xuanhuang Cosmos had reached for untold years. Now, the two of them had finally succeeded and needed only a little more time to stabilize their cultivation.

Although leaving now would not cause any serious harm, it would leave their breakthrough imperfect.

Without adapting to the power of this realm, it would be difficult to unleash their full strength.

They had broken through long ago and were now merely stabilizing their cultivation and adapting to the realm. Taking so long was perfectly normal.

After reaching the Immortal Realm, every step of improvement was measured in decades or even centuries.

Even minor gains in comprehension could require that much time, let alone a major breakthrough.
