Chapter 791 - 791: The Elven Princess

Sylvheriel’s breath caught in her throat, and her voice turned into a shaky whisper.

Her wide, terrified emerald eyes were fixed on Noah’s cold smile, and the look of disdain in his eyes cut through her like a knife.

Her small body shook, and she held onto the edges of the fresh new robes she had changed into as if they could save her from being swept away by the storm of fear inside her.

The air in the garden was thick with the metallic smell of blood and the heavy weight of death. It felt like it was closing in on her, making it hard for her to breathe.

“Y-you…” Sylvheriel stammered, her voice barely audible, cracking under the weight of her shock. “How… How are you here?”

Her eyes darted around the blood-soaked garden, taking in the lifeless bodies of the cultists strewn across the crimson-stained grass. Their mangled shapes were a silent declaration of Noah’s coming.

Now, there he stood, basking in the demonic aura of the majestic World Tree.

She had never imagined Noah—Noah, of all people—could slip into the heart of the Red Dawn Cult’s stronghold, past their vigilant guards and intricate detection arrays, without so much as a whisper of his presence.

Her heart pounded, each beat echoing in her ears like a war drum.

She took another step back, her bare foot slipping slightly on the slick, bloodied ground, her balance faltering.

“You shouldn’t be here,” Sylvheriel whispered, her voice trembling with a mix of faux threat and guilt. It was then she registered the presence of another person.

Sylvheriel had barely registered her presence; her world had narrowed to Noah’s towering figure, his dark robes fluttering in the stale air. The impression he had left on her was not small.

This was also the reason she had begged him to help her empire.

And the mark of the divine tree on him steeled her resolve.

She forced the fear down her heart, and the presence of the priestess of the Red Dawn cult helped her along.

“Aunty, big sis Helena told me that you have been looking for him.” She pointed at Noah and exclaimed loudly. “I also brought him here as you had asked. No one is more talented than him!”

“And most of all, he also has the ‘Divine Mark’!”

Once she was done revealing her thoughts, Sylvherial glanced at the woman she addressed as ‘Aunt’ and was shocked to see no visible reaction. Even though the woman’s face was covered with a piece of cloth, she was sure she would see some body reaction.

But the priestess did not even rush to apprehend Noah. She calmly looked away from her niece and slowly raised her hand to pull the dark hood behind, covering her head.

“You didn’t think this through, did you?” Noah mocked, his voice cutting through the silence like a blade. “You never did. Since you can sense the mark, what makes you think she could not?”

He turned his attention to the priestess, who allowed her golden hair to stretch down like a waterfall of silky threads after she lowered her hood. His eyes immediately caught the pair of long ears on her.

Long Ears!

The distinctive physical feature that differentiated elves from humans. Her move was practically a confirmation of what Sylvherial blurted without realizing.

The leader of the Red Dawn Cult, the woman behind the scenes, the person responsible for many atrocities happening in the world, was actually an elf.

The race Noah once knew that felt the most love and cared the most for nature.

Realizing the woman was an elf did not bring any shock to Noah. He was not racist, but the moment he knew there were elves in the world, he guessed the leader of the Red Dawn cult would be one too.

In his previous life, he was the ruler of the elven empire, and this time he was the sister of the king.

‘All elves should be eradicated.’ Noah thought off-handedly while the priestess looked back at her niece and finally spoke up again.

“Despite being so good at deceiving others, you can be silly at times, Sylvia.” The woman shook her head calmly. Her words might seem endearing, but her tone was a bit cold.

What Noah said was indeed correct; she had already sensed the presence of the mark the moment she laid her eyes on him. It might have been an accident, but she did not want her identity as an elf to be revealed… not now anyway.

Although she had revealed her ears. She did not remove the mask covering her face.

Noticing her niece shiver in fear upon hearing the coldness in her voice, the priestess changed the topic.

“What were you looking for me for? Who came?”

Hearing the question, the elven princess glanced at Noah before trying her best to speak without a speck of nervousness, “The people I conned into coming here with me. The ones I told you about before.”

The more she spoke, the less nervous she felt.

“I would have delivered them to the royal cage myself had it not been for that beast.” Recalling the fear she felt when she encountered the lord of the night, she spat venom mixed with lingering despair.

The priestess ignored the inflated pride and ego of her niece and mocked Noah. “It seems your friends are here to accompany you. Should I deliver them to you alive or…?”

Her voice trailed off in a suggestive tone, but Noah was not even a bit intimidated. On the contrary, he snorted back in amusement.

“Now you are just underestimating my friends.” Noah chuckled lightly. He hadn’t moved from the position he stood in from the start. “Defeating them might not be as easy as you are thinking.”

Noah’s words would not have normally affected the priestess, but the conviction in his eyes and the spark in them made her freeze for a moment.

“From what I can tell, you seem to be understaffed—”

Even though Noah kept speaking, his voice seemed to have drowned out in the priestess’s mind. Her thoughts swirled around as she unconsciously scanned Noah from head to toe. ‘Have I met this man before? Not possible; I haven’t left this place in years, and the first time anyone ever saw him was only a few decades ago…’

Not getting any response from her, Noah stopped speaking.

“Aunty?” Feeling the awkward silence, Sylvheriel could not take it anymore and called out to the woman. “What are you going to do now?”

Without looking at her niece, the priestess looked Noah in the eye and said. “You should not worry about the numbers and the fate of your companion.” Crimson light shimmered on her cloth mask when she said, “We should talk about you.”
