Chapter 783 - 783: The Flames of The Undying (Power Stone Bonus Chapter)
When everyone realized that Wuhan had been struck by such a powerful attack—so powerful that it had evaporated a tree of diameter more than three hundred meters casually—they knew that if he had not been killed, he was very severely injured from this attack.
And with the realization came worry for their ruler.
“His majesty!” some of the guards shouted in panic while the others, including, wanted to rush towards him. Yet none of them noticed the arrow nocked on the bow, aimed in the direction of the green-haired elven woman.
It was only the woman herself, the slowest of the group, who was still staring at the Lord of the Night, who noticed this and paled almost instantly.
“No!” She screamed in despair before turning around to run in the opposite direction, abandoning the group.
As the Lord of the Night slightly loosened his grasp on the hero, Wuhan’s sudden shout startled him and even made him turn to look at the man now standing in the middle of a crater with the upper parts of his robes blown away from the impact.
He was now standing tall, blood trailing down his left arm, his upper body covered in shiny golden armor with a phoenix carved on the front, its tail extended to the backside of the armor.
The piece of metal inscribed with several powerful runes and made from many powerful materials stuck close to Wuhan’s skin like a thin cotton shirt and not a piece of protective equipment.
Wuhan flexed his arms, channeling his qi, making the shaft of the spear that was carved in the shape of a dragon soaring towards the heavens come to life. The blade protruded from its mouth; it was made from a jade-like material that produced slicing sounds even at the slightest movements and was straight but also curved at the tip at an angle.
As the spear shone to life, the eyes of the dragon shimmered with red light, and the blade seemed to have elongated.
Everything took a blink of an eye before the spear surrounded by a humongous dragon roaring in the air was halfway through the air, charging at the Lord of the Night.
Realizing that he had to block the attack if he wanted to continue with his task, the centaur-like-looking creature dismissed the arrow and shifted his body to face the incoming attack.
Simultaneously, the two pairs of wings behind his back fluttered, producing a radiance deeper than it did before.
Maybe it was because his power was still growing with each passing minute, or maybe it was because of something else, but this time when the technique of his wings activated, the moon on the lower two wings was now the same as the one on the upper two wings.
Half moon!
As if thinking of something, Wuhan’s eyes widened in realization. He recalled the unfair shield of the creature that blocked all of his previous attacks without stopping. He could not help but wonder if his attack would even succeed.
But the defense shield never appeared.
Instead, when the second pair of wings fluttered, the Lord of the Night spoke an unfamiliar set of words.
“The luster of the moonlight, the shadow of the sun. The fullness of the void, the emptiness of the plenty. One shift turns the star whole.” Finishing the chant within a second, the creature uttered two words chillingly. “Light Reversal.”
Time seemed to pause all around the forest for a second before the incoming ‘dragon’ spear suddenly tilted to the side, changing its path, and time resumed.
All while a flash of moonlight shimmered into the clearing, giving radiance to all.
Boom!
Wuhan’s eyes widened at the miraculous sight as the attack wheezed past the tilted head of the man with four legs and pale blue skin. The attack finally landed on the area several kilometers away, and the huge blast rose into the air.
The shockwaves from the attack snapped Wuhan out of his daze as he bellowed.
“Everyone disperse!” His shout made everyone look at him and realize the situation they were in. Wuhan had realized the intelligence of the creature and did not say everything out loud.
‘We cannot kill it—no, him. This is no mindless beast; it is even smarter than any beasts of the same rank, and I fear it has even greater intelligence than it shows. We cannot defeat it, not while it continues to grow strong and we have our energies depleted.’
Everyone in the area heard the mental transmission at the same time. They did not show any emotions on the surface and turned their heads towards the man.
“Looks like he is after that Elven priestess for some reason.” Wuhan spoke out loud and sensed the creature looking at him without attacking and felt a chill running down his spine.
“Now that she has run away, we should disperse in different directions and wait for the night to be over, and those Red Dawn cult bastards should have already realized we are here.
They also seem to fear this thing, or they would have sent someone to capture us.”
The guards kept hearing his words responding; they realized that their emperor seemed to have some sort of idea and decided to go along with it.
“Run!” The captain was the first person who nodded and gave the others a loud command before flickering away in a random direction.
The other soldiers followed away and ran in different directions, leaving Wuhan alone in the area.
When Wuhan saw the Lord of the Night still standing in the same spot without any intention of pursuing any direction, he felt his heart sinking.
‘Could it be I have guessed wrong?’ He thought grimly while keeping a straight face and slowly taking a step back. He had thought that the man with four legs would chase the priestess since it had been targeting her from the start.
But now…
He felt his hopes fading away.
Familiar flames surrounded his body once more; a red mark seemed to be peeking out from underneath his armor. A tattoo-like ink spread out from different corners in different shapes as the flames seemed ready to unleash their fury.
Just as Wuhan wanted to take another gamble and run away in another direction, the creature spoke up in his eerily distorted voice.
“Child with the bloodline of a friend… stay.”
