Chapter 782 - 782: Death To Intruders

Deep within the domain of the Elven territory, several glowing buildings were seen carved out from trees surrounding the impenetrable castle guarded by dozens and dozens of guards at each corner.

Aside from that, another group of ten guards would patrol the walls of the castle from time to time without taking a break; their eyes lacked any light that the living had, and their movements seemed to be stiff and more forced than natural.

Beyond the walls on the outside, within one of the corner rooms of the humongous building, two women could be seen standing at the wide window.

One of the women had their face covered from forehead to chin with a red cloth that had a pitch-black, lifelike sun etched on it. The black fumes of the sun would come out of this veil and dissipate into the air, giving the woman a chilling and dangerous presence.

This woman was none other than the priestess of the Red Dawn Cult, and standing by her side was her ever-so-loyal general, Helena.

Both of them were looking in the same direction, at the deep, endless forest to the north. Deep within the woods, they could see fumes of fires blazing into the air, and a beautiful chirp reached their ears.

Even the soldiers below were alarmed, but none of them showed any signs of moving in the direction of the commotion.

“As you have expected.” Helena muttered in reverence, glancing in the direction of the priestess, and said, “The intruders have been moving towards the castle, but all of our forces were advised not to engage with them, so I do not know who it was that had attacked them.”

As she spoke, her voice trembled a little with fear and uncertainty. Inwardly she was cursing whoever had interrupted their well-versed plan and had attacked the group, revealing their operation.

While her elven ears fluttered in annoyance, the priestess did not seem to mind the intrusion, and she even seemed to be aware of who it was that had attacked the group.

“The Lord of the Night…” Words came out of her mouth like a drifting wind, jolting the elven woman out of her reverie. Her eyes widened in shock as she seemed to have recognized the name spoken by her leader.

“To think that he was still here.” She spoke in a tone that suggested that she took the creature—no, the man—very lightly and could easily deal with him.

“Him?” Helena asked shockingly, “I thought the lord of the night was a sacred beast of us elves.”

The priestess shook her head calmly and refused to say anything else on the topic. “If they are facing the lord, there is a very low chance they will survive anyway, whoever they are.”

She slowly turned around to leave, leaving Helena alone in the empty office room. But she suddenly halted mid-step and turned around. “Have our forces surround the area; if someone escapes, capture them.”

Turning her back forward, she continued, “If we don’t act now, it will only raise suspicion in their hearts. Since they are already here, make sure they do not leave.”

Helena bowed in acknowledgment of her words and did not raise her head until the woman left the room. Only after she left did Helena turn around to look at the forest where the flaming glow was no longer seen, but she could still feel the powerful aura flaring in the same spot.

From time to time, flashes of red and orange lights would flicker in the dark night.

Boom!

Raising the sword in his hand, Wuhan flickered behind the Lord of the Night, who used the abilities of his wings to block the attack, forming a crescent barrier.

They went back and forth for several figures, creating streaks of pale blue and bright orange light in the dark clearing.

Wuhan was sure if there had been any chances of them sneaking into the empire, they have all vanished at this moment.

‘I have to end this fight before it gets any stronger.’ Wuhan slashed once more with deeper strength and forced the Lord of the Night to use his bow to block the attack.

Without deflecting the attack, he raised another hand to draw the imaginary string on the bow. His actions made Wuhan’s eyes shoot wide open.

‘Oh shit!’ Wuhan felt the hairs on the back of his neck standing up. He had instantly realized what the man was trying to do even before he conjured the familiar arrow on the bow.

But even if he had realized it, the time before he could react at such a point-blank distance was not something he had.

Even then, Wuhan drew upon the ancient power of the Dao of wind and the power of the eternal flames of the phoenix bloodline in his body through his legs and lower torso, using full force to throw his body away from the Lord of the Night and out of the path of his attack.

Woosh!

“No…” Captain Blackswordwas the first person who grasped the essence of what had happened when he saw the two fighters stopping all of a sudden.

The next second all he could see was a blinding flash of white light and Wuhan flying backwards like a cannon launched from a mortar.

His body flung through the air and crashed in the tall hollow tree houses that were carved from the inside. The whole tree collapsed, and the whole thing blew up in a dome of explosion.

Boom!

A swirling mass of energy swallowed the whole ground, carving a huge hole in there.

The Lord of the Night did not even look at the mass of destruction he had caused and turned his attention towards Sylheriel once more and pointed another arrow that had appeared on his bow and slowly pulled back on the string.

“Death to the Intruders.” The man repeated himself as if he were some kind of broken record, but the faint light in his eyes somehow revealed how clearly he could think.

“Death to you, motherfucker!” The sudden roar came from the same place Wuhan had collided. With the shout, the cloudy mist dissipated, and Wuhan came into view, holding a spear in his hand over his neck, taking a throwing stance.

He did not allow the horse-legged man to even react to his words and channeled qi through the spear, launching it towards his head at a speed faster than the arrows he had shot till now.

Woosh!
