Chapter 556: Ch 556 : Schrödinger’s Su Yuan

  • Next Chapter

Taking advantage of the moment when the scholar Dottore was falling into a state of eerie corruption, Su Yuan quickly got up, intending to run out of the room and escape...

However, just as Su Yuan reached the doorway, he felt the eerie energy from Dottore’s body erupt completely, crashing toward him like a tidal wave.

Su Yuan immediately felt his body pinned down, unable to move at all...

At that moment, Su Yuan realized a serious problem — even though he had successfully pushed Dottore into an eerie-corrupted state, if Dottore turned his aggression toward him, how was he supposed to deal with it?

The scholar Dottore, now completely under the control of the eerie force, slowly walked up to Su Yuan, grabbed his wrist tightly, and snarled:

"Do you have more questions like that one...?"

"Give me more of them!!! I refuse to believe there’s a question I cannot solve!!!"

Seeing Dottore’s deranged expression, Su Yuan let out a small sigh of relief.

Fortunately, the scholar Dottore wasn’t attacking indiscriminately — he was fixated on seeking out more of those questions.

If that was the case, Su Yuan thought, he could just throw out a few more paradoxes to keep Dottore tangled up in thought, ignoring him completely...

"Alright then, if that’s all you want, I’ve got plenty more!"

Suppressing the nervousness in his chest, Su Yuan continued,

"For example, Dottore, you like performing modification experiments on yourself, don’t you?"

"If you keep modifying yourself over and over — until every organ, every drop of blood, every cell in your body has been replaced — not a single part of the original Dottore remains..."

"Then tell me, would that ’Dottore’ still be the same Dottore?"

"And another one — let’s say a time machine was invented, and you traveled back to the past and killed your grandfather."

"But if you killed your grandfather in the past, your father would never be born. And if your father wasn’t born, then you wouldn’t exist either."

"So if you never existed, how could you have gone back to the past to kill your grandfather? And if you didn’t, then who was it that killed him?"

Su Yuan had just fired off two famous paradoxes — Theseus’s Ship and The Grandfather Paradox.

He hoped these would tie up the eerie-state Dottore’s mind long enough for him to make a break for it.

But to Su Yuan’s shock, perhaps enhanced by the eerie power within him, Dottore’s mind seemed to spin even faster.

He immediately replied in a manic voice:

"Not enough... not nearly enough!!!"

"These so-called problems aren’t problems at all!!! They don’t convince me!!!"

"For the first question — I, Dottore, am always Dottore!!!"

Dottore screamed hysterically,

"The body and flesh are nothing but vessels — it is the soul and the consciousness that define existence!!!"

"No matter how much my body is modified, I will always remain Dottore! That will never change!!!"

"As for the second question — isn’t the answer obvious???"

"When I killed my grandfather, my father was already born! What’s the problem with that???"

"Or perhaps, I was never even my father’s real son — and that grandfather wasn’t my real grandfather! Killing him has nothing to do with me!!!"

Listening to Dottore’s deranged logic, Su Yuan was stunned.

He hadn’t expected that after being corrupted by eerie force, Dottore’s reasoning actually improved — he somehow managed to argue his way through both paradoxes.

Left with no other choice, Su Yuan pulled out his ultimate trump card and shouted:

"Then tell me this, Dottore!!!"

"If you put a poison gas capsule with a 50% chance of releasing in a sealed box, along with a cat..."

"If you open the box, the cat has a 50% chance of being alive and a 50% chance of being dead..."

"But if you never open the box, then that cat inside is both dead and alive at the same time!!!"

Yes — this was the legendary ’Schrödinger’s Cat’ paradox!

Su Yuan could only hope that this one would finally throw the scholar Dottore deep enough into contemplation... and spare his life.

However, what Su Yuan got in response was Dottore’s furious roar:

"Su Yuan!!! What kind of nonsense are you spouting???"

"What do you mean by a cat that’s both dead and alive???"

"If it were me, I’d just put in a poison gas capsule that’s 100% guaranteed to detonate and kill the cat instantly!!!"

"So there’s only one possible outcome for that cat — death!!!"

Su Yuan stared in horror at the scholar before him, finally realizing that a person completely consumed by eerie corruption had already lost all sanity and reason...

Trying to use logical puzzles and paradoxes to stall Dottore — wasn’t that far too naïve?

"Oh!!! That’s right!!!"

Suddenly, Dottore’s face lit up with manic excitement as he looked at Su Yuan.

"Su Yuan, how about you be my little test cat instead? We’ll carry out the experiment you just described!!!"

"I’ll put you inside a sealed container, along with a poison gas capsule that has a 50% chance of detonating..."

"That way, according to your logic, I’ll be able to witness it myself — the Su Yuan who is both dead and alive!!!"

Su Yuan looked at the scene before him in despair.

The scholar Dottore had completely fallen into madness.

He tried to summon his Foul legacy Armor, to use the power of the Abyss to break through the eerie suppression — but no matter how hard he tried, the summoning failed.

Meanwhile, Dottore had already dragged over a large iron box, preparing to lock Su Yuan inside with the poison capsule — to conduct what he proudly called "Dottore’s Su Yuan Experiment."

Despair washed over Su Yuan.

Was this really where his journey would end?

Without the intel that used to appear in the palm of his left hand... and with Aether not by his side this time...

How could he possibly avoid this situation the next time it happened?

But in the very next moment — something completely unexpected occurred.

Dottore suddenly clutched his head, his expression twisting in agony, shouting in rage:

"Main body Dottore!!! What are you doing???"

"My experiment hasn’t even begun yet! I haven’t reached the truth!!!"

Then, under his own screams of grief and fury, the scholar Dottore’s body began to crumble disintegrating into fine powder, and vanishing completely into nothingness...
