Chapter 1539 Hidden Identity
Sylas had been a bit surprised when he saw the end result of the three Legendary Treasures. He was aware of how powerful Legendary Treasures could be, and he even had one of his own leveled to Level 50.
However, it once again put into perspective just how much the Scorned Wraps had taken from him.
Thinking about all the treasures he had to basically give up on because of them, he realized that his time might have been much easier without these restraints.
But it was impossible to have his cake and eat it too.
Without the Scorned Wraps, there would be no Madness Disciple mantle, and without that, many of his opportunities would have never come.
Or would it?
Sylas wasn’t the sort to believe he only had one path forward. Plus… if he hadn’t run into the Slithering Madness Dungeon, he would have likely run into Cassarae much earlier. Even now, he had no idea how Cassarae had come across her Legendary Executioner Class, but he knew it couldn’t have been easy as a City Lord. Who knew, maybe he would have run into it instead?
There was also the Basilisk King Dungeon, which was the other half of the reason for his power. Without that Dungeon, he wouldn’t have gained Vipermancy. And without Vipermancy, how would he be able to manipulate Genes so easily?
Everything was a give and take. He didn’t believe he couldn’t succeed without Madness, but there was no way he could say he lost more from it than he gained.
Sure, it would be nice to be able to load himself up with enough treasures to basically increase his stats by a factor of ten.
But the fact he could get his hands on these treasures while those who could rely on treasures failed to do much the same spoke volumes all on its own.
“Where the hell do you find these things?” Cassarae muttered. “If I had had this, I would have split that big bastard into a million pieces even if I was on my last breath.”
“Well, now you do. But put it away first. We have something else to do first.”
Cassarae blinked and looked up. “What’s that?”
Sylas waved a hand and a Legendary Strength Gene appeared out of thin air so fast Cassarae had to squint in the sudden blinding light.
“… Holy shit.”
Cassarae had never experienced such an acute understanding of her stats before.
At first, she was scared to fail. Her Gene State wasn’t high enough. She had always thought that she would try her best to get her hands on a higher-level Gene State Elixir if she ever ran into a Legendary Gene.
But she didn’t expect her man to suddenly come back with the ability to wave them to fe out of thin air.
Not only could he do that, but even when she failed, he just waved a hand again and reformed a new one as though they were as common as the air they breathed.
That wasn’t even the most shocking part. Sometimes, even when she succeeded, he would pluck it out of her body and do it again just so she could experience it more and more intimately.
Cassarae wasn’t a Rune Master, and she certainly couldn’t comprehend the Legendary Gene as quickly as Sylas could. As such, even if she absorbed them, the effectiveness of her stats would still be a bit limited.
However, what if she experienced absorbing them twice? Three times? Four? A dozen times?
The feeling of them coming in and out almost felt like sex, but like it was also missing something.
Her womb was half crying in pain from their earlier romp and half begging for more at the same time.
By the time she took in her last Gene, her eyes were shining so brightly she almost looked like a completely different person.
If before her A-Grade Race status was mostly empty, it felt like it had now been filled to the brim with ambrosia.
Too perfect. Every aspect was far too perfect.
And because of that, it was a long while before Sylas cared enough to explain to Cassarae exactly what happened. She found herself drifting on a high once again.
“
Cassarae slumped off of Sylas, her body a sweaty mess. When she looked out of the window of their flying vessel, though, she immediately sat up, her eyes wide.
Earth. It was there, floating in the vastness of space, seemingly just an arm’s reach away.
Her head quickly turned to Sylas.
“What’s wrong? Why are we back here?”
Maybe of everyone in the world, she understood Sylas the most. Maybe too much.
Sylas had been too relaxed these last two days. Normally, he wouldn’t be so casual at all. But now he was returning back home?
Cassarae didn’t believe that Sylas was here on vacation. In fact, he was the sort to not come back and visit his family even if a decade or two passed—not because he didn’t love them, but because the time wasted wasn’t worth it.
There was only one reason Sylas would be like this.
She hadn’t been paying attention mostly because she had been passed out much of the time, but they had already returned to the Beast Warlord Sanctum to gather the materials and trade for what Sylas wanted with his points, and then they had returned to the Milky Way Galaxy.
it was impossible for any one power to block access to an entire galaxy, or at least no power beneath the A-Grade could possibly do that. So finding a way to enter their home galaxy without alerting Fowler and his helpers was almost too easy.
“There’s a problem,” Sylas replied.
“Obviously! But what the hell is it?”
Sylas looked out onto Earth.
“I’m still not 100% sure.”
“Well, what are you sure about?!”
“… Earth will be targeted with overwhelming force the moment it finishes its evolution and loses its Summoning protections by someone capable of perfectly hiding. their identity from the system.”
