Chapter 1538 I Give
“Not again—I give, I give!”
Cassarae thought her words were coming out with quite a bit of energy, but they were just whispers bouncing in her skull without even the momentum to make it to her lips, let alone form with enough energy to vibrate her vocal cords.
She didn’t know how long it lasted, but she felt like she was drifting off on a high that floated into infinity. When she came to, darkness was hanging all around her, the back of a man she found all too familiar peeking up on the edge of the bed.
For a moment, she watched Sylas, who sat there, his sharp green eyes glowing in the dark as though they radiated their own light. No, it wasn’t just an illusion—it was reality. He really did give off his own light.
It was said that it was impossible to use Will without the anchor of a planet for help. The higher you went, the weaker your Will became until it was nothing at all. The so-called Will that Cassarae and Sylas could rely on to protect themselves in the dead of space was little more than a bastardized version.
Sylas had his Madness Key that allowed him to manifest his Will without a world. And it seemed that Cassarae had the same ability—maybe it, too, came from the necklace hanging around her neck.
But somehow, right now, Sylas felt like he was infinitely close to not needing a world at all.
Of course, this was little more than an illusion. Even if Sylas didn’t have his Madness Key, he would have his Hibernation Realm. It followed him around everywhere, and after it had experienced so many upgrades, it was practically its own world, being much stronger than it had been in the past.
Now, sitting here in the darkness, it almost felt as though Sylas was radiating a Will that needed no other support structures to exist.
“Are you trying to prove a point or something? You can’t fuck the daylights out of me and then sit on the edge of the bed like you’re done with me. Have you heard of cuddling? Affection? AFTERCARE?!”
Sylas looked over. “Did you finally give up on pretending?”
Cassarae blinked. “What is that supposed to mean?”
Sylas didn’t reply, just looking at her. She should already understand his meaning, but in response, she just kicked at him.
Though she put quite a bit of force into it, Sylas hardly swayed. And even that swaying was just to stop her from breaking her foot on his arm. Otherwise, it would have hurt worse than slamming a toe into a steel wall at ful force.
“Piss off. I’m not talking to you anymore,” she said with a pout that was oddly adorable for her.
Sylas smiled his subtle smile, his lips curled so slightly it hardly looked like his expression had changed at all. With a wave of his hand, he threw over three items: an inner armor, a pair of boots, and a pair of wings.
Cassarae was about to say something quippy when she felt her eyes almost fall out of their sockets.
Compared to Sylas, Cassarae had a very, very, very different relationship with treasures. First, before Sylas showed up at Castle Main, she had been there an entire month. If not for finding Olivia and them teaming up, she would have been all alone, trapped in a death spiral along with spawns she wasn’t even sure were real people.
Back then, everything had been a fight of life and death—for every common treasure, every single stat point, every bit of coin she came across.
Of course, she hadn’t understood fully back then that her Luck was especially poor due to her odd Class. But even so… That wasn’t even the first time Sylas had been trapped in a time dilation either. It was hard to imagine it, but Sylas barely experienced two months —if that—on Earth in the midst of its Summoning, while everyone else experienced well over a year.
In that year, Cassarae spent the majority of the time without Sylas, struggling on her own. She knew the value of a powerful treasure better than almost anyone—especially as a City Lord who had to provide items for everyone under her charge.
Then this bastard went off on a trip for a couple of weeks and then handed her the equivalent of a trio of nukes.
Not only were these Legendary Grade Treasures, every single one of them was leveled to Level 50.
Cassarae also knew how difficult this was. Even a Bronze Treasure, by the time you got to Level 30 and Level 40, would start needing Silver Genes to upgrade further. Of course, it was worth it—such weapons were heirlooms passed down for generations and had almost none of the same drawbacks as other treasures.
If it was so difficult to upgrade a Bronze Grade Treasure, a Legendary Grade Treasure would probably need Legendary Genes to upgrade beyond Level 20.
I it required that at such a low level, then what would it ask for at Level 502 How the hell had Sylas gotten his hands on something like this?
The most shocking part?
“This is a fucking Legendary Treasure Set…”
[Guardian Angel (Legendary Set)l[Level: 50]

Cassarae stared at this screen in a daze. Just based off of this Legendary Treasure Set alone, she could wipe the floor with any D-tier in the Milky Way Sector.
“What the fuck…”
