Genetic Ascension

Chapter 1412: Strongest Ability

Sylas frowned immediately when he saw Nosphaleen start. He gave her his insight, but her process was… well, it was almost tediously slow.

He felt that this was probably because it was the first time. It was almost like trying to copy something down, but through a mirror rather than using your own eyes.

She wasn’t relying on her own comprehension, but instead his. So it would take some adjusting.

There was, of course, an even simpler solution to this, and that was to use Total Merge. Like this, he would be in her body and draw it for her. The fusion of their Wills would also make it far easier for her to embody the Will of the Whale he had comprehended as well.

But he didn’t want to do that.

Using Total Merge left his own body vulnerable, so there were many issues with using it in battle.

If he had Gogo, then what usually happened was that he would hide in the former’s mouth. But that also came with its own issues. For example, it stopped Gogo from being able to use one of his most valuable weapons: his teeth.

Also, Sylas could see that there were some breath and roaring techniques he would soon be able to unlock for Gogo as well, so it could be said that Total Merge, while great on paper, was practically only useful to him in those niche situations.

It was ironic to say this since this technique was quite literally the only reason he was alive right now. Without it, he would have died at the hands of those E-Grade traitors of Earth that descended to the Core back then.

But while that was enough reason for him to be somewhat attached to the method, he had to leave it for situations where it was appropriate. Or, he would have to wait until his Hibernation Realm was perfected enough that storing his main body away in it during battle was helpful.

Even if that was possible for him, though, he wouldn’t want to use it in this situation.

He wanted to make Nosphaleen a Spark Master. So him doing it for her would defeat the purpose.

Luckily… Sylas had Intuition.

Not only could he feel out the aspects of Nosphaleen’s path, but if she wasn’t performing as well as he wanted her to, he could understand the best way to help her improve.

‘I see…’

Sylas ruminated on those feelings for a bit longer as he allowed Nosphaleen to go on.

Finally, about half an hour later, she finished drawing the Rune Armor and it flashed into existence.

The silky, rainbow tail wrapped around her own silvery rainbow tail, the two playing off of one another in an almost beautiful sort of dance. They even wrapped around her wings, naturally changing and morphing to fit.

Sylas nodded. It wasn’t bad, all things considered. And for Nosphaleen, it was a huge boon.

She had “only” drawn it to Soul Mastery, or 60% Mastery. But that was still enough for a decent boost.

At Soul Mastery, the First Layer of the Scorpion Warlord Armor had only given Sylas +5000 stat points, or in other words, +5 with the conversion to this system. However, that was +10 with the Second Layer, and +50 with the Third.

That was 11× Nosphaleen’s current stats, so it was definitely a huge deal.

If she integrated the Gene, it would be more than an extra 10× on top of that, and suddenly her Physical stats with the Armor would be approaching Sylas’ current base Physical stats without his Armor.

However, the Whale Warlord Armor was even more powerful than that. Doubly so. The gap between the top four Warlord Armors and those beneath them was quite something.

With a doubling, if Nosphaleen integrated the Gene right now, her stats with the Warlord Armor would be greater than Sylas’ own.

However, this obviously wasn’t what Sylas was looking for. There was so much more potential here, and the value of a better Gene for Nosphaleen was even greater than it was for him.

Nosphaleen was very much lacking powerful Genes right now, but her actual potential was beyond that of Sylas’.

The Clypsians were a Race with more potential than the Human Race. It was just that they had been suppressed and then imprisoned. Nosphaleen’s potential, as a result, was just waiting to be unearthed.

Her drawing process now was hindered by two fundamental things.

The first was her Serpentes Lineage. She was a Clypsian and a Mesmeryx. While her Clypsian side was quite compatible with the Whale, she was facing the same issue Sylas did, and the reason he found it incredibly difficult to Fuse with his Scorpion Armor active.

Except unlike Sylas, Nosphaleen’s Mesmeryx Genes were an actual part of her and couldn’t just be turned off.

The second problem was that Sylas had a Perfected Spark Seed, and she did not. He was expecting skill from her that could only come from a foundation that she didn’t have, and he wasn’t sure if it was even possible to cheat your way into a Perfected Spark Seed or not.

But what he did know was that there was a way around both of these things, and he knew exactly what to do.

When Sylas first heard of the Mesmeryx, the information his Intuition ability gave him was fairly straightforward: The Mesmeryx was a Serpentes of Golden Lineage, known for its beautiful silvery, rainbow-scaled body and metallic wings. However, its strongest ability was in its illusion and charming capabilities.

However, back then, Sylas’ Vipermancy Profession was nowhere near as powerful as it was now, and there were obscure understandings and comprehensions of the Mesmeryx he had currently that he hadn’t been able to sense before.

Including paths that only the most talented of Mesmeryx had taken in the past.

The most powerful ability of the Mesmeryx was indeed its illusion ability. But that was too simple a way to put it.

What the Mesmeryx did best wasn’t just pull minds into illusions…

Their strongest capability was hidden in their Totem.

Mimicry.
