76 Dried River
Yuan Chunhua and Jiang Ming continued to walk deeper into the inner zone, hoping to find the source of the Purple Mist.
To solve a crisis, the only way to do so is by targeting the root of the problem.
Therefore, situations like this will never occur again, or at least stop for a long time.
“The corpses seemed to have increased as we walked forward,” Yuan Chunhua said, glancing at the corpses that were scattered across the forest.
“The odor is beginning to smell terrible.” She added.
Jiang Ming nodded his head.
“It’s probably because the death of these magical beasts are much older than the one we saw previously.” He said calmly, not caring about the odor in the slightest.
After all, he had already consumed a pill that nullified the disgusting smell by using the automatic refinement.
It was the most convenient and amazing function that a system could offer to him.
Without exerting any strength or spiritual qi, he was able to collect pills simply by idling away. That alone was a sharp contrast compared to his first refinement in the Alchemist Guild.
“How are you not affected by the foul smell?” Yuan Chunhua asked while covering her nose with her hand..
Although she could use spiritual qi to block the smell, it would be considered wasteful. Not to mention, if they somehow encounter a ferocious beast, then she must be prepared to fight it.
Exploration is never an easy task where you can simply walk around and just record some data.
You have to be extremely cautious and conservation on your spiritual qi. Otherwise, once you run out of spiritual qi, you are no different than a mortal that could be killed in one strike.
“I don’t know… maybe I’m just a little bit sick and can’t smell anything,” Jiang Ming shrugged his shoulders, acting completely innocent.
A little foul smell wouldn’t kill her, similar to how a few corrosiveness wouldn’t kill him.
“Aren’t you being a little cruel?” Yuan Chunhua asked in a fierce tone.
“Your instructor is conserving her spiritual qi to save you in case of danger. Yet you are acting like some pouty woman, refusing to offer me some pills.”
“What do you mean, Instructor Yuan Chunhua? Didn’t I offer you a Skyheart Pill to prevent the Purple Mist from seeping into your body?”
Jiang Ming curled his lips upward when he made her speechless.
Alas, he wasn’t going to do her dirty any longer and decided to throw the pill that he had consumed to her.
“You owe me one, Instructor Yuan Chunhua.” He said calmly.
“Hmph, what a disobedient student I have,” Yuan Chunhua sneered coldly.
She then swallowed the pill without hesitation. She didn’t believe Jiang Ming would secretly try to harm her nor give her some poison or defective pill.
Once she consumed the pill completely, she could tell the foul smell slowly vanished as it was replaced with a sweet and floral scent on her nose.
“How is this possible?” She was dumbfounded by such a miraculous pill.
And it was given that she would be extremely shocked.
After all, no alchemist would waste their time refining a pill that changes their sense of smell when there are better pills to study.
Only Jiang Ming would create such a pill since he was bored and was casually experimenting with things.
“The pill is called Fragrance Floral Pill,” Jiang Ming casually explained.
“Fragrance Floral Pill…” Yuan Chunhua muttered, seemingly in deep thought.
Sometime later, Jiang Ming and Yuan Chunhua stopped at a nearby river.
“What was this river supposed to be called?” Jiang Ming asked when saw the river had dried up.
Not an ounce of water could be seen, and calling it a river now is a bit far-fetched.
Meanwhile, Yuan Chunhua remained silent as she took out a few gadgets.
The gadgets were placed near on the soil and began beeping an irritating noise.
The beeping was similar to how a person would be forced to wake up from an alarm clock.
“Can you disable it already?” Jiang Ming asked, covering his ears from the noise.
Those kinds of sounds always bring back traumatic memories.
Alas, his request was ignored and Yuan Chunhua proceeded to place more similar gadgets around the dried river.
Unwilling to torture himself with such sounds, Jiang Ming retreated a few steps backward.
Time slowly passed by, and Yuan Chunhua finally retrieved the gadgets that she had placed around the dried river.
“What the hell are those gadgets for?” He asked in confusion.
“Investigation gadgets. These are special tools crafted by the inscription master and it would reveal part of the scenes that had occurred previously.”
“There’s such a thing?”
“Un, now feast your eyes on what we call modern technology.” Yuan Chunhua smirked and snapped her fingers.
Afterward, a large transparent screen appeared, and within the scene, they could see some gooey and gamey liquid substance being dropped on the river.
The river began sizzling with numerous bubbles occurring, almost like it was boiling at a high temperature.
Within a few minutes, all the waters in the river were vaporized.
However, the next shocking scene was that the gooey and gamey liquid substance had suddenly transformed into a humanoid-looking puppet.
Just when Yuan Chunhua and Jiang Ming wanted to find out what’s next, the scene disappeared, leaving a huge cliff-hanger.
“…”
Jiang Ming held a deadpan expression as he clapped his hand.
“What a nice and fantastic modern technology you speak of, Instructor Yuan Chunhua.” He praised wholeheartedly.
Yuan Chunhua twitched her mouth.
“Can’t you leave me with some dignity huh?” She shouted in anger.
“It’s not like this was my fault that the gadgets failed to record what happened next.”
Jiang Ming facepalmed at her denial.
Whether it’s a woman or a man, as long as they’re a cultivator, they always care about their reputation the most.
Why couldn’t they just admit their fault?
“Sigh, hand the gadgets over to me instead.” Jiang Ming suddenly said.
He extended his hand out and smiled, “I’ll show you how to use those gadgets like a pro.”
