75 Pile of Corpses
“Damn, these purple mists are really annoying.” Jiang Ming cursed aloud.
Some of his clothes were stripped apart due to the purple mist.
The purple mist was extremely corrosive and was able to inflict poison as soon as they made skin contact.
Unfortunately for it though, Jiang Ming had already consumed the Skyheart Pill, preventing the purple mist from invading his body.
Alas, he had failed to make any preparation for his clothes.
“You should stop complaining already.” Yuan Chunhua suddenly said, reprimanding him for causing a scene.
Jiang Ming twitched his mouth.
“You can say that because you were prepared this entire time,” he snorted coldly.
If Yuan Chunhua was in the same situation as him and had some of her clothes stripped apart, then Jiang Ming would still be fine with their current dilemma.
However, she had a hidden formation surrounding her clothes, nullifying the corrosiveness of the purple mist..
“Not my fault, Jiang Ming.” She said casually.
“Who told you to act like a show-off and disrespect your instructor? Now you shall suffer the consequences.”
“…”
Jiang Ming was rendered speechless.
Just how could an instructor be so heartless and allow their students to die without any protection?
Suddenly, Jiang Ming recalled the principal, Lin Jingyun’s decision to send a batch of students into the Guilong Forest.
“Sigh, birds of the same feather flock together.” He lamented and finally knew why Yuan Chunhua was his favorite disciple.
They have the same mindset and attitude toward one thing.
“I can’t believe you are my instructor,” he said.
“And I can’t believe a person like you is my student. As soon as you’ve gotten a bit better in status and wealth, you start acting arrogant.” Yuan Chunhua casually responded, causing Jiang Ming to keep his mouth shut.
Against Yuan Chunhua, Jiang Ming found himself in a helpless position.
It’s not like he can just beat her up or do something terrible to her. After all, without her assistance, he wouldn’t even be able to be here in the first place.
The original Jiang Ming would have long died in the academy if it’s not for her secret assistance.
Sometime later, they proceeded walking more deeper into the inner zone, and they were met with a large pile of corpses.
The large pile of corpses consists of magical beasts at the Spiritual Lord Realm. They all had dark blood leaking out of their bodies and corrosive skins.
Some of the magical beasts were so corroded that the skeleton and carcasses of their bodies were revealed. Ants were crawling all over the dead body, chomping on their bones.
“What the hell happened here?” Yuan Chunhua raised an eyebrow.
She proceeded to walk toward a corpse and scanned it with her spiritual perception.
“These magical beasts were all killed by the Purple Mist that’s leaking out in the far South.” She noted.
“You don’t say, Miss obvious.” Jiang Ming smirked as he walked forward, ignoring the glaring look from Yuan Chunhua.
Instead, he knelt on one knee in front of a magical beast and began to inspect it, hoping to find some valuable information.
‘Hmm, the corrosiveness of the Purple Mist seemed familiar with the event from Cultivation Omega.’ He thought.
Despite having some clues, Jiang Ming didn’t want to come to a conclusion from one magical beast alone.
Thus, he spent the next 10 minutes inspecting each and every single magical beast that still had some of the carcasses available.
After all, not all magical beasts are lucky enough to have their carcasses remain intact while being infected by the poison and corrosion of the Purple Mist.
His inspection was close to finishing, but he wanted to double-check.
‘GLCS, open up the previous quests that I’ve done in Cultivation Omega.’ Jiang Ming commanded it mentally.
Soon, a system prompt appeared with the title [Quest Completed] and numerous completed quests were listed.
Seeing the completed quests list again, Jiang Ming felt like he was back in his gamer’s days, where he would continuously grind missions for reward.
“What are you doing?” Yuan Chunhua suddenly asked when she noticed Jiang Ming was moving his finger up and down in an empty space.
Since she didn’t know Jiang Ming was currently interacting with the system prompt, she had thought he had gone crazy from the scene in front of him.
It was common for people to lose their minds when they witnessed such disturbing scenes.
Blood splattered across the soils, dying its original brown color to red.
Magical beasts that could easily kill any Spiritual Elemental Realm cultivator are scattered across the area, dead without any hint of life in them.
These two alone should have been enough to destroy a weak mindset or those who are usually protected by their parents.
“Is your mentality alright, or do I need to use a calming technique on you?” Yuan Chunhua asked.
Despite her remarks at him, she was worried about his safety. If it weren’t for the insistence of the emperor, she would have never allowed Jiang Ming to explore the Guilong Forest with her.
Meanwhile, Jiang Ming flashed a cheeky smile as he stood up and shook his head.
“Heh, this is actually such a simple problem.” He laughed aloud. “I can’t believe I got worried for nothing.”
In the beginning, he was frightened by the sudden intervention of his system, telling him that the progression of the main storyline would increase by 1%.
That had never happened to him before and caused him to lose his composure.
However, things have completely changed now that he figured out the root of this problem.
“Seriously, I can’t tell if you’ve become an idiot or not. One second ago, you were looking at the dead corpses with a serious expression, and the next second, you started laughing like a maniac.” Yuan Chunhua commented, wondering if she should have just gone ahead alone.
Jiang Ming understood her reaction since even he would doubt the authenticity of his words.
“Whatever, let’s just move on ahead, Instructor Yuan Chunhua.” He said calmly, not worrying in the slightest.
