148 Selling Quotas
With Yang Liqin playing along with Jiang Ming’s next scheme, Di Tianluo felt like his internal organs were about to rupture from the blatant extortion.
Normally, it was their Di Clan that could bully the weak. Yet now the tables have turned toward them as they are unable to refute Jiang Ming’s demand.
To be able to repair broken meridians was something that was never seen before in the Northern Continent. Therefore, his deed alone showcased just how profound the master behind him is.
In addition, there was an entire audience here, including the emperor, Zhao Tong, as witnesses. To deny his claim on partaking in the bet was not an option he could take nor could he attempt to take Jiang Ming’s life to retain their quotas.
‘I’ve been falling into his trap since the very beginning.’ Di Tianluo concluded. The scene that had occurred was far too much to be called coincidence, but a carefully laid plan to snatch their Di Clan’s quotas.
Each powerful clan could only have 10 quotas max while the regular clan could at most receive 4 quotas. The emperor himself would have 15 quotas at their disposal. This was always the usual distribution ever since the previous ancestor had discovered the existence of the ancient ruin and managed to find these quotas dropped by it.
Although the ancient ruin would appear every 30 years at a fixed time, not many people were qualified to know about its existence due to strict regulations..
Hence, Jiang Ming was completely clueless about the appearance of the ancient ruin until the GLCS had informed him in advance.
“Anyway, Di Tianluo… are you going to try to be shameless and refuse to pay up my reward?” Jiang Ming asked after waiting for a few minutes. Such a fat lamb was in front of him, and if he didn’t butcher him completely, then he would feel regretful.
Di Tianluo clenched his fist as he could only accept his loss as a lesson for his ignorance in underestimating his opponent.
He retrieved two golden-looking papers that had a blinding light within them from his spatial ring. After that, he infused some spiritual qi in the papers and threw it toward Jiang Ming.
The speed of the paper was increasing and without any preparation in receiving it, one can even lose their life.
‘Hmph, what an insignificant skill.’ Jiang Ming sneered silently as he coated his hand with spiritual qi and enhanced his perception. In a swift manner, he caught the two golden papers with ease.
“Seems like the Di Clan are truly honorable people. Willing to bet and willing to accept their death.” Jiang Ming teased cheekily.
Di Tianluo didn’t bother to respond as he waved his sleeve and brought Di Qiaowei back to their respective location.
“Fellow cultivator Jing, you are truly our Huo Clan’s benefactor.” Huo Minyong cupped his fist and said respectfully. At the same time, he made an eye signal to one of the elders in his Huo Clan, clearly telling him to bring up something.
The elder hurriedly walked up and handed Huo Minyong two golden papers. It didn’t take a genius to know that it was the quotas used for entering the ancient ruin.
“Fellow cultivator Jing, as promised previously, here’s the two quotas from our Huo Clan.” Huo Minyong said politely, extending the golden papers to Jiang Ming.
Jiang Ming wasn’t going to act like a hypocrite and tried to refuse it. This was the reward he earned for fighting on their behalf.
Why should he feel any embarrassment for accepting something that is rightfully his now?
“Thank you very much, Elder Huo Minyong.” Jiang Ming said as he grabbed the golden papers.
Just when everyone thought the show was finally over and could proceed, Jiang Ming suddenly stepped forward.
“My junior sister and I only need 2 quotas, so the extra 2 quotas we just got is a bit wasteful. Hence, given my generosity, I have decided to auction these two quotas for the highest bidders.” He announced loudly.
“…”
The crowd was silent, almost like they had become a mute at what Jiang Ming had just said.
“Is this Jing for real? Auctioning off the quotas?”
“No, his words make sense. Unlike us who have a large number of people who want to join, Jing and Yiqin are just two people.”
“Doesn’t this mean we can have a chance in obtaining more quotas for our clan? The highest bidder wins it anyway.”
Soon, the crowd became agitated as someone brave enough raised their hand and asked, “Fellow cultivator Jing, what is the starting bid?”
Jiang Ming nodded his head. “I’m glad that you have asked. Since I don’t actually lack much money and I’m trying to do charity, the starting price shall be 1 spirit stone only.”
As soon as Jiang Ming finished his words, the crowd erupted in an uproar while the Di Clan’s members cursed silently in their minds.
Those quotas were unwillingly given out by them and now they are witnessing him auctioning it at a dirt-cheap price.
The audacity of Jiang Ming’s action was filling their rage.
Meanwhile, Jiang Ming laughed inwardly when he watched the crowd riled up in an energetic manner. ‘Haha, look at these idiots. Just because I set the starting price at 1 spirit stone, do you really think people would be able to buy it at such a price?’
With their greedy mindset, everyone was properly thinking about obtaining the golden papers at all costs. After all, it was their first time being able to bid for one quota.
Normally, a quota is extremely priceless and no clans would be stupid enough to sell their chances away for boosting their clan’s power and influence.
“Anyway, the quota would be sold one by one, so everyone has two chances in hopes of obtaining an extra quota.” Jiang Ming said loudly.
And he continued, “You may now begin bidding for it, but please hurry. Based on my calculation right now, the ancient ruin would fully open around 10 minutes.”
