Chapter 347: Chapter 47: Returning Home in Glory, Evil God Slayer (Part 2)
The swamp was filled with soft, treacherous mud, making it inconvenient to harvest the Spiritual Materials on the spot. So, the bodies had to be airlifted out one by one.
These drones were only about the length of an adult’s arm, yet their payload capacity was astounding.
A single Earth Goblin weighed nearly 60 kilograms, appearing to be at least ten times the weight of the drone.
Yet with a gentle tug, the small Rotor Puppet steadily hoisted the entire corpse. Its flight speed, however, slowed considerably.
The stark contrast of the scene created a strange and powerful impact.
Princess Phoebe couldn’t help but exclaim in amazement, "How can these Flying Puppets possibly lift something so heavy?"
Anya voluntarily answered her question. "This type of puppet uses a revolutionary rotor-based propulsion system. It harnesses the power of the air with unprecedented efficiency."
Princess Phoebe only half-understood.
But one thing was perfectly clear to her: these strange-looking, unimposing Flying Puppets were truly an incredible invention.
But what truly made the princess’s heart skip a beat wasn’t the Flying Puppets themselves, but the Noble Lady’s attitude at that moment.
Her beautiful eyes widened slightly as she stared directly into Anya’s, making no effort to conceal her gaze, as if trying to read something from them.
Anya returned her gaze with an exceptionally elegant smile and gave a nearly imperceptible nod.
In that instant, Princess Phoebe fully understood the message Anya was trying to convey.
And this tacit understanding sent a ripple of disbelief through her.
Without a moment’s hesitation, the Princess responded with an equally solemn nod.
Through this silent understanding, the two noble girls had quietly come to an agreement.
Soon.
Over a hundred corpses had been airlifted over, laid out in several dense rows on the solid ground at the edge of the swamp.
Potter watched this scene, habitually reaching up to push the Witchcraft Glasses on the bridge of his nose, an indescribable feeling welling up in his heart.
Dabi City, where he grew up, was situated near the Bam Swamp—the largest in the Seven Great Kingdoms. It was a fortress city, destined from its birth to contend with the swamp.
Every few years, the kingdoms surrounding the great swamp would, by order of the academy, dispatch a joint army to clear out the rapidly breeding monster hordes on its fringes.
It was known by a name familiar to every citizen of Dabi City: the Giant Swamp War.
Potter had practically grown up listening to stories about the war.
The blare of horns, casualty reports, victory parades, and funerals—these were the soundtrack to his childhood.
As far as he knew, dealing with a Monster Tribe like the Muddy Earth Goblins was a serious undertaking. With their tough hides and fierce nature, it usually required at least two Second Level Apprentices to personally lead the charge. And even then, they needed a full infantry company from the Kingdom’s regular army just to have a chance at victory.
Yet now, with just three bizarre-looking Flying Puppets, Mr. Mo Ning had utterly routed those foul-smelling Earth Goblins.
Potter couldn’t resist a surreptitious glance at Mo Ning’s back, sighing inwardly, ’If only these puppets had been made widely available sooner.’
Dabi City was full of military families, with service passed down from generation to generation.
Every year, many children waited for fathers who would never return. The city’s streets frequently echoed with dirges for the fallen, and black mourning clothes became the most common sight.
He hoped from the bottom of his heart that these puppets could spare those children the pain of losing a father.
Potter didn’t join the three young women. He found a corner, squatted down, and began to diligently process the corpses.
’He had a vague intuition that the three of them—Anya, Princess Phoebe, and Reina—either already shared an unusually intimate relationship with the Legion Commander or were destined to.’
’In the academy, this sort of thing was all too common, not even newsworthy.’
’He’d even heard of a certain Third Level Apprentice who had ambiguous relationships with dozens of Female Apprentices.’
So he consciously chose to work alone, deliberately keeping his distance from them.
The young women had long since cast a Trick to envelop themselves in fresh air, protecting them from the suffocating stench of the Earth Goblins.
Potter, however, was completely unfazed.
The stench, on the contrary, gave him a strange sense of peace, as if it instantly pulled him back to his distant hometown.
A blade formed from Magic Power materialized at his fingertips. He expertly slit open the Earth Goblin’s bloated abdomen and, without hesitation, plunged a hand into the steaming, foul-smelling viscera. His fingers rummaged around for a few moments before precisely pinching the pancreas.
With a twist of the blade, he cleanly severed the fascia. Another Trick followed, instantly drying the tissue.
This was the dried pancreas of an Earth Goblin, the part most concentrated with Spiritual Power.
Many precious Magic Potion recipes required this supplementary ingredient.
Potter’s entire sequence of movements was as smooth as flowing water; it took him a mere ten-odd seconds to process a single corpse.
Just as he was about to turn to the next corpse, he suddenly sensed a gaze upon him.
He instinctively looked up and met Mo Ning’s eyes.
Mo Ning smiled. "You seem very skilled at processing Earth Goblin corpses."
Potter wiped the filth from his hands and answered honestly, "I used to process monster corpses from the Bam Swamp all the time back in my hometown. I’m used to it."
Mo Ning let out a soft "oh." "I see."
