Chapter 324: Chapter 40: Knowledge Is Indeed Wealth, the Astounding Mo Ning (2)
Old Nan De had asked about "news," not the material itself. He clearly didn’t think a newcomer could get their hands on something so rare.
Reina grinned and muttered, "Old Nan De, prepare to be shocked!"
This time, she didn’t send a text message. Instead, she directly sent a three-dimensional image stored in her ring.
The next second, Old Nan De’s message came roaring back, the shock practically bursting from between the lines:
"By the Mystery! What am I seeing? It’s a perfect, incredibly fresh Giant Demon Regeneration Heart!! I can almost smell its enticing, bloody aroma." 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ
The Dazed Girl couldn’t help but laugh.
Another message followed, each sentence filled with almost sickeningly sweet praise:
"Reina, you’ve truly astonished me! To think you had the ability to get a Giant Demon Regeneration Heart. I must admit, I have gravely underestimated you. You put every Apprentice in the entire academy to shame!"
The Dazed Girl, however, didn’t like that last sentence.
She muttered under her breath, ’He can’t just say things like that. Mr. Mo Ning is an Apprentice, too.’
Reina felt a little spiritually wounded and made a decision. ’For that sentence alone, I’m charging an extra 10 Black Tower Points as emotional damages.’
The third message arrived right after.
"Reina, for Old Buck’s sake, I would never let you take a loss. I’m willing to purchase this precious heart for 210 Black Tower Points."
But Miss Dazed just sneered. ’My teacher was right. Old Nan De is a total crook. When you’re dealing with him, you can’t believe a single word that comes out of his mouth.’
A price of 200 Black Tower Points was usually for a Giant Demon Regeneration Heart of poor quality with low Spiritual Power.
This heart was in such perfect condition, yet this guy only offered 210. He was so crooked the air he exhaled from his nostrils probably billowed with black smoke.
Reina dropped the polite act and replied directly:
"This heart’s ’Asc Regeneration Fluctuation Index’ has reached 18.2. You should know what that means. Therefore, I will give you one more chance to make an offer. Any unreasonable offer will be taken as you permanently rejecting the friendship of me and my team."
That sentence was loaded with information.
The so-called "fluctuation index" was something only those who had deeply studied the Giant Demon Heart would know.
This was a hint—’I know far more than you think, so you’d better stop trying to lowball me.’
As for the "team," that was another hint—’I can get my hands on even better Spiritual Materials in the future. If you want to keep sourcing them from me, you’ll need to offer a satisfactory price.’
A full ten seconds passed.
Only then did the fourth message belatedly arrive.
"Alright, Miss Reina, I admit I made a damn mistake. Old age is eroding my sanity day and night, causing me to lose my most basic judgment. I solemnly request to purchase this near-perfect Giant Demon Heart for 280 Black Tower Points."
One had to admit, this Apprentice merchant was incredibly flexible, able to decisively swallow his pride even when dealing with a newcomer.
Reina blinked her pretty eyes as a strange intuition suddenly flashed through her mind. ’Maybe 315 Black Tower Points would maximize Mo Ning’s profit.’
The thought startled even her.
After all, 280 Black Tower Points really wasn’t low. 315 Black Tower Points was a jump of more than 20% in one go.
’This... seems pretty crooked, doesn’t it?’
The Dazed Girl hesitated for a moment, then decided to trust her intuition and quoted her final price:
"As far as I know, a Giant Demon Heart with a Regeneration Fluctuation Index over 16 is one of the key secondary ingredients for a Regenerative Blood Potion. So, my final price is 315 Black Tower Points, non-negotiable!"
After sending it, Reina felt her tone had been too harsh and worried she might have soured the relationship.
But she’d already sent it, so it was too late for regrets.
*****
「No. 25 Apprentice Town.」
The academy arranged 20 dormitory areas for Second Level Apprentices, numbered 11 through 30. Just like the First Level Apprentice Towns, each Second Level Apprentice Town had its own unique and magnificent scenery.
Old Nan De sat in a storeroom piled high with materials, his old face a mask of shock.
’Old Buck’s student is really something else—she actually guessed that my client wants to concoct a Regenerative Blood Potion?’
The price made him hesitate deeply.
According to the client’s tiered acquisition plan, the purchase price for a Regeneration Fluctuation Index of 18.2 was 318 Black Tower Points. This meant his profit would only be 3 Black Tower Points.
How could he be satisfied with earning so little after all that work?
Old Nan De agonized over it for a few minutes before finally shaking his head.
’It seems Reina must have heard some rumors. If I don’t agree to this price, she might go directly to my client. Then I wouldn’t even make those 3 Black Tower Points.’
The Second Level Apprentice couldn’t help but sigh and mutter a complaint, "How are the newcomers getting so formidable these days?"
He replied directly with a single word:
"Deal!"
*****
「Newcomer Dormitory Area 75.」
"Deal!"
Reina stared at the message from her ring, equally shocked.
My god!
Old Nan De actually agreed!
The Dazed Girl instantly realized something. ’That intuition I just had... could it be that my Spiritual Traits have evolved? The possibility seems pretty high.’
Reina sent another message:
"It’s too late today, so pickup isn’t convenient. I will hand over the Giant Demon Regeneration Heart to you tomorrow."
"No problem!"
Reina smiled happily and murmured, "Praise be to Mr. Mo Ning!"
She understood perfectly well that Flower had only been willing to teach her so much about Spiritual Materials for free on Mo Ning’s account.
