Chapter 310: Chapter 36: The Sensation Caused by the Birch Magic Breath Technique

Sahan snapped back to reality and prepared to cast a second time.

Mo Ning suddenly activated the Trick, Fast Sliding. With a flicker of his body, he instantly closed the distance to twenty meters.

After condensing his first Spirit Ring, his control over Tricks had improved immensely. His Casting speed was faster—his body shot forward with a mere thought.

Before his promotion to Apprentice, there had been a 0.02-second delay between activating the model and the start of the slide. Now, that delay was virtually nonexistent.

This was also far beyond the standard of an ordinary First Level Apprentice, who would still experience a 0.01-second delay when using the same Trick.

Sahan was slightly taken aback. ’So fast,’ he thought.

The lack of a Curse meant it was only a Trick, yet his speed was nearly eighty percent that of the Level Zero Witchcraft, Sliding Technique. This once again upended Sahan’s expectations.

The way he looked at Mo Ning changed profoundly. This was an exceptionally powerful Apprentice, not the mediocre one he’d imagined, who had likely only been promoted for a few years.

Mo Ning pointed to the ground at his feet and smiled. "I think this distance is more appropriate."

Sahan’s lips twitched, but he ultimately didn’t object. "Of course."

The Apprentice then added a reminder, "I’m about to cast. Please be ready."

His previous Wind Blade Technique, cast at sixty percent power, had barely fazed the Air Shield, which was a serious blow to his pride.

Now, Sahan was completely serious. He decided to give it his all.

"Si—sa!"

Sahan barked out another sharp incantation and swung his right hand forcefully toward Mo Ning.

Magic Power poured out, following his casting gesture. It manipulated the air, condensing it into a Wind Blade that shot forward with a piercing shriek.

WHOOSH—

The shriek was clearly higher-pitched than before.

"La!"

Mo Ning uttered a quick syllable.

This time, he finally made a casting gesture—a simple forward push of his hand.

Within his Spiritual World, the Witchcraft Model for the Air Shield Technique silently slotted into one of the three Super Magic Spell Slots built into his Spirit Ring.

The term "Super Magic" meant that it could handle an excess input of Magic Power.

And more Magic Power, naturally, meant greater potency.

The Super Magic Spell Slots within his Aurora Spirit Ring provided a 10% boost to the Air Shield Technique—a very significant increase.

Beyond that, he could clearly feel that igniting his Qi and Blood Power had quickened his reaction speed by a fraction.

That "fraction" might seem pitifully small, but in a brutal fight, it could be the difference between life and death.

Most importantly, as his Qi and Blood Power grew stronger in the future, his reaction speed would continue to improve. He found himself increasingly grateful for Anya’s suggestion.

’Of course, he would never forget how the Noble Lady had willingly offered herself to help him ignite his Qi and Blood Power.’

The next second, Sahan watched in astonishment as the air in front of Mo Ning distorted, forming two overlapping Air Shields.

’This was yet another technique that defied his imagination, and it confirmed his earlier suspicion: Mo Ning must have performed a deep optimization of his Witchcraft.’

Then, the Wind Blade struck the Air Shield head-on, triggering another THUMP of displaced air.

Sahan hoped with all his might that this full-power Wind Blade would at least destroy the first Air Shield, and perhaps even leave a mark on the second.

Unfortunately, the result was disappointing.

Under the Wind Blade’s impact, the first Air Shield did deform significantly more than before, but it was nowhere near the point of shattering.

Sahan stared at the scene, a powerful sense of frustration welling up inside him.

The Apprentice considered his combat strength to be in the upper-middle tier among First Level Apprentices, but these two exchanges had dealt a harsh blow to his confidence.

’He had originally planned to share some of his casting experience with the Air Shield Technique to curry favor with his high-value client. Now, he didn’t want to say another word.’

’Did a genius like this really need his guidance?’

Mo Ning’s tone remained polite. "Mr. Sahan, your Wind Blade Technique is quite masterful."

’When the Wind Blade had struck his Air Shield just now, he had clearly sensed the immense penetrating power it unleashed.’

’Compared to what he’d read in books, that Wind Blade Technique was definitely above average.’

’If he hadn’t deeply optimized his Witchcraft—reshaping the Air Shield into a vortex to use rotational centrifugal force to negate most of the impact—he probably wouldn’t have been able to block that Wind Blade.’

A muscle in Sahan’s face twitched as he forced a strained smile.

’Quite masterful?’

’He couldn’t even break through the man’s first Air Shield. He was too embarrassed to accept such praise.’

He reached for his waist, took out a pair of Casting Gloves, and put them on. With a flick of his right wrist, his Magic Wand came loose from its strap and fell into his hand.

Sahan suppressed his frustration as his fighting spirit surged. "Mr. Mo Ning, I’m going to use my Magic Wand for this next one."

’This was a fine-Quality Magic Wand that had cost him a fortune—1,200 Black Tower Points. He was confident its Quality was superior to his opponent’s.’

’Leveraging the power boost his Magic Wand provided to his Witchcraft, he had even developed a trump card.’

’This time,’ Sahan thought, ’there’s a greater than 95% chance I’ll break his defensive Witchcraft.’

"Very well."

Mo Ning replied.

He stealthily activated the Spirit Seal on his Casting Gloves. Two white blurs slid out from his sleeves, touched the backs of his hands, and instantly fitted themselves into place.

The Magic Wand, Mine Ruler, slid out next, and he gripped it firmly in his right hand.

Sahan’s pupils contracted imperceptibly as he watched.

’Are those... Excellent-Quality gloves?’

’As far as he knew, all Excellent-Quality Casting Gloves possessed an auto-equip function and didn’t need to be put on by hand.’

’As for that jet-black Magic Wand... though it looked plain, his Spiritual Intuition told him its Quality was very likely Excellent or even higher.’
