Chapter 299: Chapter 32: Bountiful Harvest, Soul Spirit Water Digestion Complete (Part 2)

The reflection in the mirror also brought to mind a passage he had read in an apprentice’s notebook:

"The Black Robes of the Arbitration Court possess a strange kind of Magic Power. Any Apprentice who puts one on will unconsciously grow colder.

"They seem to transform into cold metal puppets, icily carrying out missions, icily fighting, icily killing, as if the ’human’ side of them has been stripped away.

"Every time I see those figures in Black Robes, I always feel a little uncomfortable and want to keep my distance from them.

"But one thing is undeniable—these guys in Black Robes are actually the mortal enemies of Dark Wizards. You have to admit, it’s a bit of black humor."

At this thought, the corners of Mo Ning’s mouth lifted unconsciously.

As a member of the "Black Robes," he found these written accounts quite interesting.

Besides the Black Robe and the [Arbitration Ring], the rewards from the Arbitration Court for clearing out the Goblin Tribe had also been distributed.

They came faster than Wizard Lin Te had promised—it only took a little over twenty minutes.

Compared to the information he’d seen in journals and notes, which stated that "rewards are distributed in about a day on average," this was practically light speed.

There were only three rewards.

It didn’t seem like much, but Mo Ning was quite satisfied.

The first was a reward of a whopping 1,200 Black Tower Points, much higher than he had expected.

The first line of the reward evaluation read, "For halting the Evil God’s prying gaze into this world"—which was clearly the reason for such a large reward.

The second reward was a set of potions—three bottles each of Excellent Quality [Life Potions] and [Magic Potions], with a total value exceeding 500 Black Tower Points.

For an Apprentice, one could never have too many consumable Magic Potions of this quality.

The third reward was a Witchcraft Item that Mo Ning found very interesting—the [Sword Dancer Music Box].

To put it simply, it was a music box.

The music box was quite compact, just the right size to fit into the inner pocket of a Black Robe or a Gray Robe.

When opened, a pair of lifelike female Elf Sword Dancer figurines were dancing gracefully inside the box.

[Sword Dancer Music Box: Upon activation, creates a pair of Sword Dancer magical projections. The Sword Dancers possess considerable close-combat abilities and can cast the Level Zero Witchcraft "Vine Entanglement Technique." The projection lasts for one minute.]

[Usage Requirement: 3.5 Spiritual Strength, 100 Magic Pool Capacity.]

[Quality: Excellent (172 uses remaining).]

This was undoubtedly a very powerful projection-type Witchcraft Item.

The Sword Dancers’ abilities could be described as skilled in both magic and combat. Although they only lasted for a minute, they were enough to instantly turn the tide of battle at a critical moment.

He had to admit, the Arbitration Court was certainly generous to its own.

Mo Ning gazed at the pair of slowly rotating figurines. He wasn’t sure if it was his imagination, but he could faintly sense a trace of sorrow emanating from them.

He reached up and touched the Leopard Fang Pendant hanging on his chest, inclined to believe it wasn’t his imagination.

After experiencing so many strange events, Mo Ning was almost certain that his spirit possessed some kind of rare, special ability.

The Phantom Carved Divine Statue had undergone successive mutations within his Spiritual World, allowing him to master two rather powerful instances of Thunder Soul Magic—this was strong evidence.

The wisp of a remnant soul contained within the Thunder Shadow Leopard’s fang had been bizarrely awakened, not only able to devour negative Spiritual Power to restore its durability but even evolving to possess Thunder Power—this was another piece of strong evidence.

He believed that his ability to sense the emotions of the Sword Dancer figurines must be due to his own unique Spiritual Traits.

Mo Ning closed the music box and placed it in a secure locker, thinking to himself, ’Perhaps I’ll get an unexpected surprise from this music box one day.’

Just then, a faint warmth suddenly emanated from his [Apprentice’s Magic Ring].

A message from Third Level Apprentice Nasha immediately flooded into his mind.

[You’re a real miracle worker, kid! To think you actually managed to stop the Will of the Evil God from descending. Master Yi Lin is very pleased with those six Filthy Crystals you acquired. She’s planning to start a new research project and will have you participate.]

[The Master says those crystals are worth at least 5,000 Black Tower Points! That’s a fortune big enough to make anyone’s eyes turn red with envy! Why are you lucky enough to stumble upon things like this even out in the middle of nowhere?]

[But the Master figures you probably don’t need Black Tower Points right now. If there’s anything else you need, just ask. The Master will definitely satisfy your request.]

[Gods! You probably don’t know this, but the Master has never made a promise like that to any other Apprentice. You’re such a lucky kid!]

The envy revealed between the lines was practically dripping from the Magic Ring.

A slight smile touched Mo Ning’s lips as he read.

He had long grown accustomed to Nasha’s frequent displays of envy.

In the entire Deep Red Rose Witchcraft Laboratory, no one knew better than this Female Apprentice just how many benefits he had received from Master Yi Lin.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Mo Ning sent a reply:

[Master Yi Lin should have it ready by now, right?]

Since entering the academy, he had dealt with several Official Wizards. These powerful individuals were all sharp-minded, and it was difficult to hide anything from their eyes.

For example, when Mo Ning was previously recounting how he stopped the Evil God’s descent for Wizard Lin Te of the Arbitration Court, he had intentionally omitted a key piece of information, yet Lin Te had seen through it at a glance.

He figured that with Master Yi Lin’s sharp eye, she had probably long since seen his greatest weakness.

And just as he expected, Nasha’s reply came at once.

[You clever kid. The Master did indeed prepare a super-powerful item for you called the "Kara Psychic Badge." It’s already been sent to you via the Witch Spirit, so be on the lookout for it.]
