Chapter 294: Chapter 31: Is Stopping an Evil God’s Descent a Job for a Level 1 Apprentice?

But Mo Ning had already accomplished his goal.

The power projected by the Evil God to protect the Crystal Diamond had been weakened to a negligible degree by the Power of Time.

Mo Ning decisively activated another Trick—Strong Vibration.

The Crystal Diamond was an extremely hard Spiritual Gemstone. Even a Black Iron Knight like Anya would have difficulty shattering it with a full-power Qi and Blood Fist.

But the gemstone had one fatal weakness—it was brittle.

As the Witchcraft Model activated, a stream of Magic Power instantly touched the Crystal Diamond, generating intense Magic Vibrations from within.

With his abilities, Mo Ning instantly tuned the Vibration to a specific frequency, directly causing the Crystal Diamond to resonate.

At the same time.

The first wisp of black mist emerged from the dark spot and began to spread rapidly.

Unfortunately, it was too late.

The intense internal vibrations caused the Crystal Diamond to suddenly jump a full meter into the air.

In an instant, the Magic Vibrations destroyed the Crystal Diamond’s structure, covering it in countless fine cracks.

BANG!

The Crystal Diamond suddenly exploded.

Thousands of crystalline fragments flew out like a torrential rain, striking the nearby trees and ground with a sharp RAT-A-TAT, as if a sudden hailstorm had begun.

Whatever the Evil God had done to the Crystal Diamond, it was now almost completely shattered, its Spiritual Power dissipating.

With the skin gone, where could the fur attach itself?

The Power of the Evil God relied on Spiritual Power as its anchor; under these circumstances, it would inevitably dissipate along with it.

Mo Ning quickly cast the Trick, Air Shield. A barrier of air instantly formed in front of him, deflecting the flying shards.

"Agh—"

He vaguely heard an extremely faint cry of pain coming from the spot where the Crystal Diamond had exploded.

But the sound was so faint and brief that it was hard to tell if it was real or just his imagination.

Only then.

The two young women, who were busy a dozen or so meters away, looked over with astonished faces.

Anya shot to her feet, her expression instantly hardening, and crouched, ready to sprint over.

The Noble Lady’s gloved hands were raised, stained with faint, greenish blood.

Goblin blood is green. The shade of their blood varies between subspecies, depending on the extent of modifications made by Ancient Wizards.

Admittedly, Anya’s warrior-girl look possessed a unique sort of beauty.

Reina also tensed up, her right hand already in a casting stance.

"I’m fine!"

Mo Ning immediately called out.

The two girls finally relaxed.

Anya couldn’t help but ask, "What just happened?"

Mo Ning hesitated for a moment before deciding to tell the truth.

"The Evil God worshipped by this Goblin Tribe secretly left a contingency in place. I managed to destroy the Crystal Diamond bearing its Evil God Mark first, preventing the Evil God’s arrival."

Both girls looked shocked.

An Evil God?

To them, the term was something far removed from their world.

Any cursed item directly related to an Evil God was beyond an Apprentice’s ability to handle; it had to be dealt with by an Official Wizard.

The academy’s rules clearly stated: "Apprentices or newcomers who discover a cursed item must report it to the academy’s Arbitration Court as soon as possible."

The term "cursed item" mentioned here did not include Evil God Altars.

Within the Seven Great Kingdoms, while perhaps not as numerous as the hairs on an ox, Evil God Sects were still incredibly common.

These Evil Gods hailed primarily from the Chaos Abyss. No one knew how many layers the Chaos Abyss contained, but its Legendary Demons and Legendary Divine Descendants were constantly peering into the Wizard World, giving rise to countless Evil God Sects.

More Evil God Sects naturally meant more Evil God Altars.

Generally speaking, as long as the altar was destroyed and the Priests were killed, the problem was considered solved.

What the academy was truly wary of were cursed items that concealed an Evil God Mark.

Because they could secretly corrupt the souls of those who came into contact with them, a single moment of carelessness could lead to a catastrophe.

Naturally, the two girls understood that the Crystal Diamond Mo Ning mentioned was one of these terrifying cursed items.

And the idea of a mere First Level Apprentice stopping an Evil God’s arrival through a cursed item was simply mind-blowing.

The shock paralyzed their thoughts. They stood speechless, mouths agape, completely at a loss for words.

Flower, having witnessed the entire event, quietly revised its evaluation of her master. ’Mr. Mo Ning’s performance absolutely deserves six stars.’

The maximum score was five stars. Six stars was a rating that surpassed perfection.

The recent turn of events had surprised even the Artificial Soul; she hadn’t expected such a rare cursed item to be hidden within the Evil God Altar.

And her master’s response was nothing short of perfect.

He had, with extraordinary calm, thwarted the Evil God’s plan for arrival in the nick of time.

Had any step in the process been even a fraction of a second slower, the Evil God’s will would have likely already arrived.

Flower thought that even a First Level Wizard could not have done better than her master.

Mo Ning turned to the metal dragonfly and gave a quick command:

"Flower, immediately ask the Arbitration Court to send someone to investigate. Grant them temporary access so they can get here."

The Arbitration Court was an extremely influential body within the academy. To speak of "granting them temporary access" made it sound as though Mo Ning was treating them like a department that ran errands.

The subtext was clear: get the job done and then get out.

But the Cabin in the Woods was territory staked out by the former dean, and with Lord Martin as his backer, Mo Ning naturally had the confidence to order the Arbitration Court around like this.

Reporting to the academy also served as a request for a reward. After all, for destroying a goblin tribe that worshipped an Evil God and preventing that god’s arrival, the academy’s reward would surely be substantial.
