Chapter 234: Chapter 13: Sweeping the Underground Mine, Mo Ning’s Performance Stuns Everyone

The logistics regiment’s weapons were a motley assortment. Some carried throwing knives, others held short spears, and some even had round shields. They looked just like a ragtag army.

Princess Phoebe issued a timely command: "Keep up!"

She didn’t forget to add a reminder: "Keep your High Intensity Flashlights aimed at the cavern walls above. Leave no blind spots."

It had to be said, the princess was very good at shoring up weaknesses. She had immediately identified the legion’s first minor vulnerability.

Bright beams of light shot out from the crowd, sweeping back and forth across the cavern walls.

Nearly two hundred beams crisscrossed within the massive cavern. Reflected and scattered by the walls and motes of dust, they illuminated the gloomy underground space, making it much brighter than usual.

For creatures of the mine accustomed to darkness, such an environment was undoubtedly hostile.

Many of the new recruits nearby squinted, their eyes stung by the intense light.

Witnessing this firsthand, everyone realized the brilliance of the legion’s strategy.

But understanding the strategy didn’t mean they could replicate it.

The most critical part of this strategy was gathering enough people to ensure a sufficient number of powerful light sources.

Lone adventurers or small teams of three to five simply couldn’t replicate it.

A few seconds later, a voice suddenly rang out from the legion’s ranks. "There’s something up..."

Before he could finish, a sharp WHIIINE cut him off.

The whine came from Mo Ning’s right hand. It was a Trick he had mastered two months ago called—Powerful Throw.

It was a particularly difficult Trick, capable of instantly accelerating a thrown object to over three hundred meters per second.

Note the "over."

The lighter the object, the faster the acceleration, and vice versa.

Mo Ning had custom-made a batch of specialized ammunition for himself—the pointed spikes he held in his palm.

He had meticulously optimized this Trick, finding the perfect solution to achieve the ideal balance between the projectile’s speed and weight.

Its bullet-like shape greatly reduced air resistance, increasing its velocity, while the raised spiral grooves on its surface enhanced its flight stability.

In tests, its muzzle velocity reached as high as 839 meters per second, comfortably breaking the sound barrier.

The projectile was heavy enough to possess significant stopping power.

In short—maximized kinetic energy.

To put it bluntly, he was throwing bullets by hand.

In the two months since mastering Powerful Throw, he had practiced it tens of thousands of times in the Simulation Space, training until he never missed.

The lookout had only managed to get three words out when Mo Ning’s projectile whistled through the air, precisely striking a creature hidden on the cavern wall above.

SPLAT!

The projectile pierced its skull, sending a spray of brains and bone fragments flying.

The creature’s surface blurred for a moment, and its true form was revealed.

It was a humanoid creature, half the height of a man, with blackish-gray skin.

It clearly possessed some form of camouflage, allowing it to change its skin color and texture to blend in perfectly with the rock. The disguise was nearly seamless.

It also had a gecko-like ability, its hands and feet capable of clinging to vertical rock faces.

But now it was dead. All its abilities failed, its body reverted to its original color, and it plummeted from above.

THUD!

With a muffled thud, it slammed into the ground, turning into a pile of mangled flesh.

The sound sent a wave of panic through the hearts of many new recruits.

’So many of us are gathered here, and it took this long for someone to spot it. Who knows how many more of these damn things are lurking in the mine’s labyrinth? How could they not be nervous?’

Mo Ning’s calm voice instantly echoed through the cavern. "It’s just a common Dark Goblin Climber. They aren’t very strong."

Anyone who had taken the course *Epic of Witchcraft* knew the origin of the Dark Goblin Climber.

During the era of the first Ancient Witchcraft Empire, Wizards were fanatically obsessed with biological modification. The Golem Demons the new recruits encountered during their second assessment were a prime example of that era’s creations.

Goblins, small creatures with exceptionally high fertility, naturally did not escape their clutches.

After millennia of frenzied modification, the Ancient Wizards used goblins as a template to create over a thousand different subspecies.

These subspecies were, on the whole, significantly stronger than standard goblins.

Some were given powerful dark vision and the ability to draw energy from ore. They gradually made their homes underground and came to be known as—Dark Goblins.

The Ancient Wizards’ original intent was to raise them as competent miners, toiling year-round in the sunless depths of the earth.

But the creatures’ reproductive rate was simply too high. The Dark Goblins rapidly swarmed the subterranean world, spreading like a plague and escaping the control of the Ancient Wizards.

Tens of thousands of years passed. Most of the goblin subspecies created by the Ancient Wizards have long since gone extinct, but several hundred subspecies remain active in various corners of the Wizard World.

The Dark Goblin Climber was one such subspecies.

"Keep moving!"

Mo Ning issued another command.

The formation of the Battle Banner Legion began to move once more.

Countless eyes fixed on Mo Ning’s back—some filled with awe, others with scrutiny, and still others with wariness.

Most, however, were filled with awe.

To most of the new recruits, casually landing a headshot on a Goblin Climber from over eighty meters away was terrifyingly powerful. It was a feat that probably not even a First Level Apprentice could accomplish.

That one shot had certainly intimidated many of them.

The new recruits watched the legion’s movements, a single thought shared among them: ’For their very first operation, the legion is already displaying perfect discipline. Their performance is impeccable.’

The expressions of the recruits from the previous term were universally complex.

Many of their squads had privately agreed to teach this term’s recruits a harsh lesson. They were determined to get a few of them killed, and that Mo Ning fellow was their primary target.
