Chapter 442: Chapter 227: This Is a Bit Too Proactive
He asked a single question about their location, then hung up after getting a reply.
"They’re here. We can leave anytime."
Hearing this, Su Chen was a little baffled. He asked, confused, "There are other people?"
Xiao Chen pouted, a hint of jealousy in his voice. "Yeah... I mentioned it in passing to Elder Xiao, and he specifically told me to bring a few extra people to protect you, in case anything happened."
Su Chen hadn’t expected Elder Xiao to make such arrangements. It would be a lie to say he wasn’t moved. "Thank Elder Xiao for me!"
"No way. You can tell Elder Xiao yourself. I’m not going to be your messenger." Xiao Chen looked glum. ’I’ve never even gotten this kind of treatment.’
Just then, Chen Fei hurried in from outside. He stopped beside Su Chen, bowed slightly, and handed over his phone, which was in the middle of a call.
"Sir, it’s a call from Raymond."
"Raymond?" Su Chen immediately took the phone.
After returning from Elder Xiao’s, the first thing Su Chen had done was call Raymond. He had instructed him to register an oil company and a shipping company in the Cayman Islands, and had also given him a brief overview of the situation on his island in Venezuela.
He also gave him a contact number for the project manager in Venezuela so they could get the island’s preliminary infrastructure work done.
Things like docks, roads, and lodging—the basic construction—had to be in place. Otherwise, when the oil drilling equipment arrived, they wouldn’t even be able to get it onto the island.
Su Chen didn’t try to hide the call from Xiao Chen, chatting openly with Raymond right in front of him.
"A fight broke out? Were there any casualties?"
"It’s best to foster good relations with the local government. We don’t go looking for trouble, but we aren’t afraid of it either. If something like this happens again, just put a stop to it immediately. You handle the personnel arrangements. My only requirement is to guarantee the safety of our workers."
"Yeah... I’m not worried with you in charge. As long as it’s not a major issue, you can make the final call."
After talking for about five or six minutes, Su Chen finally hung up, his brow slightly furrowed.
"What’s wrong? From what I overheard, a fight broke out over there?" Xiao Chen, who was standing nearby, asked quickly.
He had previously learned from Elder Xiao that Su Chen owned an island in Venezuela with abundant oil reserves.
Su Chen shook his head. "It wasn’t much of a fight. You know how chaotic it is there. The preliminary work attracted some troublemakers with ulterior motives. Some people tried to collect a toll out on the water, and Raymond and his men taught them a lesson."
"Raymond said it was just a small local gang, only a few dozen guys. They disbanded right after the incident."
Xiao Chen nodded thoughtfully. He didn’t say anything more; after all, this was a minor issue Su Chen could easily handle himself.
’He knew that the armed strength of IPS Security Company was on par with that of some small to medium-sized countries.’
"It’s getting late. We should get going," Su Chen said, standing up and handing the phone back to Chen Fei.
The three of them then headed out of the courtyard. Their luggage had already been loaded into the car.
Interestingly, the bodyguards Elder Xiao had arranged through Xiao Chen were all acquaintances—or to be more precise, acquaintances of Chen Fei.
There were four of them in total. Funnily enough, the four had a group name—Heaven, Earth, Black, and Yellow. As for the name’s origin... it was because the last word of each of their names corresponded to one of the four.
All four were Xiao Chen’s men, specially summoned from a training base in the suburbs.
After Xiao Chen made brief introductions, the group of six got into the car and headed straight for the airport.
Irkutsk Oblast is located in southern Siberia and is known as the "Heart of Siberia." It has a history dating back three hundred years, and the famous Lake Baikal is located within the oblast.
As Siberia’s largest industrial city, it is also known as the "Paris of the East." This, combined with its unique cultural heritage, makes it a paradise for many travel enthusiasts.
The distance from the Imperial Capital to Irkutsk is only 1,500 kilometers, which is a much shorter flight than to many cities within the country.
After Su Chen’s group arrived at the airport, there was no waiting whatsoever. The control tower immediately cleared Su Chen’s private jet for takeoff.
Once the plane leveled off, Su Chen and Xiao Chen went to the rear lounge area to chat. Meanwhile, Chen Fei was swarmed with questions by his old comrades.
They all knew that Chen Fei and Xiao Peng served a formidable young master, but they never expected them to be living so well.
Private jets and Rolls-Royces for travel, living in a top-tier courtyard home in the Imperial Capital—it would be a lie to say they weren’t envious.
You could see the envy practically overflowing from the eyes of the Heaven, Earth, Black, and Yellow quartet; they wished they could trade places with Chen Fei. But they also knew he and the others had earned it. After all, weren’t he and Xiao Peng ranked first and second at the training base?
The flight from the Imperial Capital to Irkutsk took a little over three hours. They landed at two o’clock in the afternoon.
The airport in Irkutsk wasn’t very large, with only two terminals—one for domestic flights and one for international. Their arrival caused a bit of a stir among the airport staff.
It couldn’t be helped. After all, in a small city like Irkutsk with a population of only 1.1 million, a place that saw few visitors outside of the tourist season, the appearance of a large private jet was bound to attract attention.
Because of this... the ground crew even sent the airport’s only shuttle bus over to pick up Su Chen and his group.
