Chapter 360: Chapter 200: Just Made a Little Money

"Sir, Mark is here!"

Upon hearing this, Su Chen put down his book and looked toward the main entrance. He saw Mark watching him, his eyes a mixture of excitement and nervousness.

He smiled and beckoned to him, sitting up from the sofa.

"Don’t just stand there, come over and sit!"

Mark quickly walked over, bowed respectfully, and said, "Good afternoon, Mr. Su!"

"Hey, no need to be so formal. We’re friends, after all, right?" While Su Chen said this, he was quite pleased with Mark’s deferential attitude.

Once Mark was seated, Su Chen didn’t waste any time. He gestured for Jiang Hui to bring over the laptop.

"Let’s settle the accounts before we chat. Otherwise, I’m afraid you won’t be in the mood to talk," Su Chen said teasingly.

Mark’s eyes widened at his words. ’That’s exactly what I was thinking,’ he thought, but he knew he couldn’t appear too eager. He had to play it cool.

"Mr. Su, there’s no rush. We have plenty of time today."

Despite his words, Su Chen noticed Mark’s slightly trembling leg and his tightly clasped hands, both betraying his inner excitement.

Su Chen smiled and shook his head.

Just then, Jiang Hui came downstairs with the laptop. Su Chen took it and began working on it on the coffee table.

"Longteng Technology sold for five billion US dollars. Your stake was forty-nine percent, which comes to 2.45 billion. You previously promised me a sixty-percent commission from your share, which means your take is 980 million US dollars."

"If there are no issues, shall I start the transfer?" Su Chen had already opened the transfer page for his Swiss bank account. All he needed was Mark’s account number to complete the transaction quickly.

Mark quickly recited his account information. In less than ten seconds, Su Chen was done.

The call from the Swiss bank’s customer service came remarkably fast. Just as Su Chen closed the laptop and handed it to Jiang Hui, Mark’s phone began to ring.

After a quick "excuse me" to Su Chen, he stood up and walked aside to take the call. From what little he could overhear, Su Chen guessed the Swiss bank was calling to upgrade Mark’s services.

With nearly a billion USD in liquid assets, he would be considered a top-tier client for any Swiss bank. Naturally, they’d want to maintain a good relationship.

As for why Su Chen hadn’t received a similar call, it was mainly because his Swiss bank account was anonymous, which saved him a great deal of hassle.

Of course, this meant Su Chen wouldn’t get to enjoy the services reserved for the bank’s top-tier clients, but he wasn’t bothered by the lack of such perks.

The call lasted about six or seven minutes. When Mark returned, he apologized profusely.

Su Chen understood. It reminded him of the manager at the Shanghai Construction Bank, who had tried to upsell him on all sorts of services and products. If he hadn’t been so firm back then, that beautiful manager would have pestered him into paying for something.

’They say the entertainment industry is a mess,’ Su Chen mused, ’but the world of finance is just as cutthroat, if not more so in some respects.’

’There’s nothing you can’t imagine, and nothing those beautiful women won’t do.’

"What are your plans for the future?" Su Chen asked softly after taking a sip of tea.

At this, Mark’s interest was piqued, and the excitement on his face was just as palpable as when he’d received the money.

"Mr. Su, your Huaxia is truly amazing. Whether it’s the urban development, the cultural heritage, or the food and snacks, I’m completely captivated by it."

"It’s also incredibly safe at night. I was surprised to see people still out on the streets in the early hours of the morning."

"You might laugh, Mr. Su, but in the few days I’ve been in Shanghai, I haven’t even finished exploring the famous Bund, let alone landmarks like the Oriental Pearl Tower."

"It’s not just me; even my family loves this city and this country."

"I plan to settle down in Shanghai first, then buy an RV and take my family on a trip around Huaxia to see the scenery and try the food in different places!"

Su Chen could see genuine anticipation and longing in Mark’s expression. This wasn’t just empty flattery; it was coming straight from the heart.

This made Su Chen a little curious about what Mark had experienced in Shanghai these past few days.

After inquiring, he learned that Mark and his family had gone to visit the Bund on the very evening they arrived in Shanghai.

Anyone familiar with Shanghai knows how massive the crowds on the Bund can get, especially at night. And, as Murphy’s Law would have it, something went wrong.

Mark and his wife were so absorbed in taking photos of the scenery that their seven-year-old daughter got separated from them in the crowd. The couple was a bit on the oblivious side, and it took them a good ten minutes to realize their child was gone.

They quickly sought help from the police. In that moment, the two of them were in utter despair. Mark’s wife was crying her eyes out, thinking she would never see her child again.

Back in America, tens of thousands of children go missing every year. Once they disappear, they’re rarely ever found again. Even if they are, they often come back with... missing parts.

Just as the couple was sinking into despair and self-blame, the officers patrolling the Bund received a dispatch: the child had been found. The whole process took less than fifteen minutes.

When Mark and his wife followed the patrol officer to find their daughter, she was sitting in a small shop on the City God Temple snack street near the Bund, happily munching away. She didn’t look the least bit like a lost child.
