Chapter 329: Chapter 189: None of Them Are Good People
"The company’s new technology is about AI, artificial intelligence."
"Artificial intelligence?" Su Chen’s interest was piqued. After all, as a master hacker, he was well aware of how extensive the applications of AI were.
AI is generally divided into three levels: weak AI, strong AI, and super AI.
The most widely used type at present is weak AI. Things like modern smartphones, smart homes, and self-driving cars all fall under its purview.
It operates by optimizing algorithms and models to continuously improve processing efficiency and accuracy in specific domains. To put it bluntly, it’s born from massive amounts of data and remains under human control in terms of intelligence.
A strong AI system, on the other hand, would be a paradigm shift. It would possess human-like learning and reasoning abilities, capable of understanding and handling all sorts of complex problems, not just those confined to a specific field.
It would continuously improve its own intelligence level by learning new knowledge, much like how we go through school, from elementary to university.
Of course, the technical difficulty of achieving this is immense. It’s far beyond our current technological capabilities.
If you need a reference point, think of the robots in "I, Robot." That would be the level of strong AI.
As for the final level, super AI, that’s purely theoretical. It would be something like the Matrix from "The Matrix," where the line between virtual and reality blurs at its whim.
"Yes! We’ve made a monumental leap in our AI research. As of now, you could say it’s the most advanced artificial intelligence technology in the world!" Mark’s face beamed with pride as he said this.
"You broke through from weak AI to strong AI?" Su Chen’s pupils contracted. He set down his glass of juice, a hint of excitement in his voice.
"Er..." Hearing this, Mark was instantly deflated.
"Mr. Su, we’re still quite a ways from strong AI. But it’s definitely the most cutting-edge weak AI there is!"
Thankfully, it was still weak AI. If they had truly broken through to strong AI, one feared Mark’s small frame wouldn’t have been able to handle the consequences.
The day a new technology like that was announced, Mark would likely disappear without a trace, or perhaps suffer some sort of very "plausible" fatal accident.
Su Chen nodded slightly at his words. But he was curious. ’Even if it’s just weak AI, it’s still the world’s most advanced technology. Why is Morgan the only party at the table?’ He shot a sideways glance at Bird, who had remained silent beside him.
His eyes flickered, and Su Chen returned to his previous lazy posture, leaning back on the sofa and crossing his legs. "So, what’s your plan? Are you thinking of selling this new technology, or keeping it to develop yourself and find business partners?"
Mark fell silent. His original plan was to sell his company shares and the new tech outright, cash out, and enjoy the life of a rich man. But now that he saw the powerful backer he had in his majority shareholder, he was starting to hesitate.
After a long silence, Mark finally asked tentatively, "I was wondering, what are your thoughts on this new technology, Mr. Su?"
At that... Su Chen paused, his juice glass halfway to his lips. A faint smile played on his lips as he mused to himself, ’Is this Mark guy trying to latch onto a big shot?’
Su Chen wasn’t particularly interested in Longteng Technology’s new tech. If he were willing to spend the time, he could code a comparable weak AI system in a month or two at most.
But for him, there was no need. What was the point of putting in all that effort to write a weak AI system? Now, if it were a breakthrough into strong AI, that would be a different story.
Su Chen shrugged. "It makes no difference to me. As long as Morgan offers a suitable price, I’m fine with selling them all my shares."
At this, Su Chen turned his gaze to the ever-silent Bird. "If you don’t mind me asking, Mr. Bird, what is Morgan’s position?"
Bird’s heart skipped a beat. He hadn’t expected Su Chen to suddenly address him. Fortunately, years of experience kept any trace of emotion from his face.
"Mr. Su, Morgan’s intention is to acquire Longteng Technology and all patents for the new technology for 2 billion US Dollars." After speaking, Bird seemed a bit thirsty and lifted the glass in front of him to take a sip.
Beside them, Mark’s eyes went wide as saucers when he heard the two billion figure. His legs began to tremble uncontrollably. He owned forty-nine percent of the shares; if the sale went through, he would pocket a billion US Dollars.
That was a billion US Dollars! He’d be set for life. He could buy two of these mid-levels villas—one to live in, and one just to look at.
"Two billion? I didn’t realize Morgan was so stingy. If I recall correctly, Accenture Group’s R&D budget for artificial intelligence last year was as high as three billion USD."
"No matter how you look at it, Longteng Technology’s new tech is the most advanced weak AI in the world right now. How could it possibly be worth only two billion, and that’s including the company itself?"
"Wouldn’t you agree, Mr. Bird?" Su Chen said, looking at Bird with a grin.
Bird looked at the smile playing on Su Chen’s lips and felt an inexplicable chill rise from the bottom of his heart. It was as if he had been seen through completely.
Even Mark, listening on the side, now sensed that something was off. Logically, his company’s new technology was a global leader. How was it that so far, only Morgan had shown interest... No... it should be two parties.
