Chapter 325: Chapter 188: This Air Isn’t Sweet

Shanghai, Seaview One!

Su Chen was lounging leisurely on a recliner in front of the second-floor floor-to-ceiling window, an old novel in his hands. He would nod from time to time, as if in praise of the book’s quality.

He had bought this old book at a second-hand bookstore back when he visited Tongli Ancient Town. He’d also picked up several other interesting collections of short stories.

Just then, Jiang Hui strode up from downstairs. As he neared Su Chen, he slowed his pace considerably.

He walked respectfully to Su Chen’s side and said, "Sir, President Pei and Mr. Chen Fei have arrived."

"They’re all here," Su Chen said, putting down his book. He stretched languidly before getting up and heading downstairs.

As soon as he got downstairs, he saw the two of them sitting on the sofa, talking and laughing. When they saw Su Chen, they quickly stood up.

"Good morning, Sir!"

"Mm," Su Chen nodded slightly. He walked over to a standalone armchair and sat down, then waved for the two of them to be seated.

Just then, Jiang Hui came over with three glasses of juice. After placing them in front of the three men, he turned and left.

Su Chen took a sip of his juice, then looked at Pei Rang, signaling that he could begin.

Seeing this, Pei Rang quickly took something in a clear document pouch from his briefcase and handed it to the person next to him, Chen Fei.

That’s right, he handed it to Chen Fei.

The item inside the clear pouch was none other than the passports for Chen Fei and his men.

Last night, Su Chen had made three calls. Two of them were to Chen Fei and Pei Rang.

He had told Chen Fei to bring two or three security personnel over from Zheng Island to accompany him on a trip to America; after all, it was more reassuring to have his own people around.

As for Pei Rang, his task was to use his connections to get the passports for Chen Fei and his men expedited through the visa process.

"Sir, the flight has been arranged as well. It’s a direct flight to San Francisco at three o’clock this afternoon," Pei Rang added.

Su Chen nodded and turned his gaze to Chen Fei. "Do you have any issues on your end?"

Chen Fei put down the document pouch and looked at Su Chen. "Sir, perhaps we should bring a few more men. Things haven’t been very peaceful in America lately."

"No need. Bringing you few along is just for convenience, in case anything comes up. I can’t have Old Jiang handle everything, can I?"

After a slight pause, Su Chen continued, "Don’t worry about security. We have professionals responsible for that."

Pei Rang might not have understood the meaning behind those words, but Chen Fei knew exactly what he was talking about. He had picked up on a few things from Su Chen’s casual remarks in the past.

Chen Fei didn’t insist further and promptly stated he had no other issues.

"If there’s nothing else, Chen Fei, you and Old Jiang get your things ready for the trip. Pei Rang, make sure to arrange for a driver. You all can work out the specific details among yourselves."

"Yes, Sir!" Pei Rang and Chen Fei said, standing up.

Su Chen waved them off, signaling for them to get busy. He walked to the window and looked out over the Huangpu River. ’I have a feeling this trip to America won’t be as simple as I thought,’ he mused.

「Hongqiao Business Airport!」

Su Chen then realized that he had seen all three of the men Chen Fei had brought with him before. Among his security team, the only ones who had left an impression on him were the original ten team leaders.

The three men Chen Fei brought this time were from that group of ten. Among them was the team leader who had stopped his car, a man Su Chen had seen several times.

This time, Su Chen made a point to ask for their names: Wang Gang, Chen Qiang, and Li Yun. The team leader who had stopped his car and left such a deep impression was named Wang Gang, who seemed to be the leader of the trio.

That morning at the house, Chen Fei had proposed that Wang Gang return to Su Chen’s side to serve as a personal bodyguard. He reasoned that the park’s security work was now running smoothly and could be handed over to others for management.

At the time, Su Chen had wondered just who this Wang Gang was to earn such a strong recommendation from Chen Fei.

He hadn’t expected the Wang Gang he mentioned to be an old acquaintance.

Chen Fei had brought Wang Gang along for two reasons. First, he wanted to give Wang Gang a chance to make an impression on Su Chen. And second... because his professional skills were the best among all the security personnel at the park.

However, Su Chen had not agreed to Chen Fei’s request. The reason was the ongoing projects at the research base. Whether it was the chips or the controllable nuclear fusion, they were both extremely important. The fewer people who knew about these things, the safer it was.

Of course... Su Chen had made him a promise that once the two projects were completed, they could arrange for someone else to take over the park’s security operations.

"Sir, the airport has given clearance. We can take off anytime," Jiang Hui said softly, walking quickly from the cockpit to Su Chen’s side.

"Let’s fly."

The flight from Shanghai to San Francisco would take at least eleven hours. By the time they arrived, it would be around 2 a.m. Huaxia time. However, converted to local time in America, it would be just after 10 a.m. that same day.

That’s right... just after 10 o’clock in the morning.

Shanghai is in the UTC+8 time zone, while San Francisco is in UTC-8. The time difference between them is a full sixteen hours. This meant that when Su Chen landed in San Francisco, it would still be daytime on the same calendar day—in fact, the local time would be earlier than his departure time from Shanghai.

If he was lucky, he might even get to witness the transition from night to day from the air.

After a moment of slight turbulence, the plane took off from Hongqiao Airport, heading straight for San Francisco!
