Chapter 321: Chapter 186: I Didn’t Put in Any Effort, I Just Nodded

SLAP!

A heavy hand landed on Manager Wang’s shoulder. Before he could even react, President Li’s voice rang out.

"Don’t feel like you lost face. The man has the means to back it up. You need to get that look out of your eyes. Take this as a word of advice from a future business partner!"

Manager Wang froze when he heard this. He glanced at the young man chatting with Chen Peng, then turned to President Li. "President Li, please, enlighten me!"

"I wouldn’t go so far as to say ’enlighten.’ I’ll just tell you what I know." President Li shot a complicated look toward Su Chen, who was a short distance away.

Manager Wang quickly pulled a pack of Su Yan Platinum Crystal cigarettes from his pocket. He offered one to President Li and lit it for him before lighting one for himself.

*Pfft.* A cloud of white smoke billowed from President Li’s mouth. He finally began to speak slowly. "The first time I met Mr. Su was at an executive training program at Peking University in the Imperial Capital. Seeing how young he was, I thought he was just a staff member the university had assigned to us."

Scenes from that day flashed through President Li’s mind, and he shook his head with a wry smile.

"Uh, President Li... and then what? Is this Mr. Su the son of some business tycoon?" Manager Wang was dying of curiosity about Su Chen’s identity, but President Li was drawing it out, and he didn’t dare press him for more.

"And then... and then a tycoon worth tens of billions, who was a special guest of the program, was following him around like a lackey!" President Li fixed his gaze on Manager Wang, wanting to see his reaction.

"GULP." Manager Wang swallowed nervously when he heard about a ten-billion-dollar tycoon acting like a lackey. If anyone had been looking at his legs, they would have seen his thighs trembling slightly beneath his suit pants.

"President Li... you’ve got to be joking, right? How could a tycoon worth tens of billions follow some young brat around? That’s impossible!" Manager Wang said with a forced smile, staring intently at President Li, as if hoping to see a "just messing with you" expression on his face.

But alas... upon seeing the unwavering look in President Li’s eyes, even though Manager Wang found it unbelievable, he began to slowly accept the truth.

’If Chen Peng exaggerated or twisted my words when he talks to Mr. Su... I’ll be skinned alive, even if I don’t wind up dead.’

As if his very life force had been drained by a succubus, his body went limp. He staggered and began to fall sideways. Fortunately, President Li had been watching the color drain from his face and quickly reached out to grab him as he fell.

"Manager Wang, are you...?" President Li had a good idea of what was happening, but he had to feign ignorance. ’After all, how humiliating would it be to admit the truth?’

"Heh heh... I’m fine, I’m fine! Probably just low blood sugar. I didn’t eat breakfast," Manager Wang said, steadying himself with a wave of his hand and forcing a particularly strained smile onto his face.

Upon hearing this, President Li put on an "ah, so that’s it" expression, though he didn’t bother to hide the amusement in his eyes. Manager Wang, however, had his attention fixed on Su Chen and noticed none of it.

Meanwhile, Chen Peng and Fu Qiaoyu were staring dumbfounded at Su Chen, their mouths agape, at a complete loss for words.

"Haha! What’s wrong? You and Sis don’t recognize me anymore, Third Bro?" Su Chen asked with a laugh.

Chen Peng smacked his lips. He suddenly felt like his younger cousin was a stranger. It had only been a few years, but the change was earth-shattering. How was he supposed to process it all at once?

Su Chen knew the scene had shocked his cousin, so he watched him quietly, waiting for him to adjust.

After a long silence, Chen Peng finally stammered, "L-Little Bro, what... what’s going on with you? And why was President Li from Weiru so eager to please you?"

"I just happened to meet a benefactor, that’s all. As for President Li..." Su Chen glanced over at President Li, who was looking their way, before continuing. "We met at that executive training program at Peking University in the Imperial Capital. Hmm... I guess you could call us classmates!"

"Little Bro, does this mean you’re really..." Chen Peng started to ask if Su Chen had made it big, but a sharp pinch on his side sent a jolt of pain straight to his brain. He started grunting softly.

Fu Qiaoyu pulled her hand back and said apologetically, "Sorry, Xiaochen. Your cousin has no filter."

’I didn’t expect my sister-in-law to be so considerate,’ Su Chen thought.

"By the way, Third Bro, what’s the situation here?" Su Chen hadn’t forgotten the real reason he was here and quickly steered the conversation toward the factory.

Hearing this, Chen Peng ignored the lingering ache in his side and explained the whole situation from start to finish. He didn’t add any embellishments—after all, he, Chen Peng, wasn’t that kind of person.

"So what are your plans? Do you want to keep the factory here, or move somewhere else?"

Chen Peng and Fu Qiaoyu exchanged a look, neither of them quite understanding Su Chen’s meaning. They weren’t sure if he was asking whether they wanted to keep running the factory, follow him, or just move the factory somewhere else.

"Little Bro, you decide. You know my vision is pretty limited," Chen Peng said, scratching his head in embarrassment.

"Alright, then." Earlier, while chatting with President Li, Su Chen had learned the real reason for his visit. Thanks to the connections he’d made at the Peking University training program, he had landed a lot of long-term orders and was now planning to lease a space to open a branch factory.
