Chapter 319: Chapter 185: Suffer the Consequences
"Hm? Is something wrong, Manager Wang?" President Li asked, having noticed the change in the manager’s expression.
Based on their previous conversation, Manager Wang had thumped his chest in guarantee. Could there be some kind of trickery involved?
"Ah—no... no problem at all. I guarantee the workshop will be ready for you before tomorrow," Manager Wang said confidently, quickly regaining his composure.
Hearing this, an idea sparked in President Li’s mind. "We’ve got time on our hands. Manager Wang, why don’t you take us to see the site now?"
The company’s top brass had conducted the initial inspection, and all he had seen were reports. He hadn’t viewed the site himself, so this was a perfect opportunity to see what the situation at the workshop was really like.
Manager Wang looked at President Li’s smiling face. Every hint of a smile conveyed a command that could not be refused.
"Of course, President Li! Let’s go," Manager Wang said with an eager smile, while inwardly praying, ’I just hope Director Li has already sorted out all those minor issues. Even if they’re just in the middle of moving out, that’s fine.’
The industrial park was quite large. Manager Wang and his group boarded two electric sightseeing carts and headed toward the workshop in the rear of the park.
Along the way, Manager Wang nonstop pointed out the park’s layout and various facilities, and President Li was quite satisfied with what he saw.
They soon arrived at the rear workshop. Funnily enough, the spot where they disembarked was right at the main entrance of the Yu Peng Mould Processing Factory.
Before President Li could even ask about this particular factory, an angry roar echoed from within. "I don’t care if your businesses are moving out or not! Any machinery that isn’t gone by six p.m. will be considered abandoned!"
Manager Wang’s heart sank when he heard that voice. There was no mistaking it... it belonged to his own subordinate, Director Li.
"Manager Wang, what is going on here?" President Li’s brow furrowed instantly.
"President Li, these are just the small factories that were previously leasing the workshop. Rest assured, this will all be taken care of today!" Internally, Manager Wang was already cursing Director Li six ways from Sunday. ’How could he mess up something so simple?’
"Hmph," President Li grunted with a slight nod. He had a vague idea of what was happening, but it had nothing to do with him. All that mattered was that his own machinery could be moved in for installation tomorrow.
As for the other trivial matters, he could only scoff. After all, whether these small-time operations lived or died had nothing to do with him.
As the sounds of arguing inside grew louder, Manager Wang knew this couldn’t continue. After a quick apology to President Li, he strode into the workshop.
President Li watched him go, deliberated for a moment, and then followed him in. He wanted to see how this Manager Wang handled things and get a better measure of the man.
"Manager Wang is here!" The moment Manager Wang stepped into the factory, someone spotted him. The arguing crowd fell silent instantly, all eyes turning toward him.
When Director Li saw Manager Wang arrive, it was as if he’d seen his savior. He was no master debater, and being surrounded and harangued by the crowd had left his head spinning.
He hastily squeezed his way out of the crowd and trotted over to Manager Wang.
"Manager Wang!" Director Li called out respectfully.
"Hmph. You can’t even handle a simple task like this," Manager Wang said, a flash of impatience in his eyes. "Tell me, what’s the situation?" ’Looks like I’ll need to find a new director after this,’ he thought.
Director Li quickly explained the whole sequence of events. When Manager Wang heard that it was Fu Qiaoyu who had rounded up the heads of the other factories, his gaze fell upon her in the crowd, scrutinizing her.
Whether it was the intimidating force of Manager Wang’s glare or her own guilty conscience, Fu Qiaoyu quickly lowered her head.
Manager Wang now understood. She was the source of the complication. This wasn’t the time to dwell on it, however. He could settle the score with her after the immediate problem was solved.
’Provoke me, Wang Tianming, and still expect to make a living around here? Not a chance.’
"I understand what’s going on now," Wang Tianming announced. "Let’s all part on good terms. As for your rent deposits, come find me in my office after you’ve moved out. That should put your minds at ease, shouldn’t it?"
All Manager Wang could think about was resolving this situation quickly. He’d noticed President Li follow him inside. If he offended his powerful new patron over such petty profits, he would regret it so much he wouldn’t know where to begin crying.
The owners of the other factories were terrified of Manager Wang. Everyone knew how ruthless he could be; otherwise, this new industrial park wouldn’t have developed so well under his management.
The factory owners exchanged uncertain glances. Finally, an older, middle-aged man stepped forward. "Since Manager Wang has given his word, we’ll go back and pack our things now!"
With that, he headed for the door. The others quickly followed suit. As they passed President Li, however, each of them trembled, knowing he was the boss of Weiru.
Terrified that their earlier behavior had angered this big shot, their brisk walk turned into a panicked trot.
Soon, the only people left in the workshop were Chen Peng and his wife, Manager Wang, Director Li, and President Li’s party.
"Chen Peng, look what you’ve done," Manager Wang snarled, jabbing a finger at Chen Peng’s face. "I thought that since Old Yang introduced you, you’d have some sense. I never expected you to backstab me like this. You’ve got some nerve! It looks like you’re done with the mold-making industry!"
Chen Peng had never been in a situation like this and instantly began to panic. Thankfully, Fu Qiaoyu, who was standing beside him, took his hand, keeping him from losing his composure.
After all, in this industry, Manager Wang’s word was law. If he decreed that no one should rent a workshop to them, the surrounding industrial parks would all, more or less, defer to him.
After all, who would care about a small-time operator like Chen Peng?
Fu Qiaoyu gave Chen Peng a reassuring glance before stepping forward. "Manager Wang, I—"
But before she could finish, Manager Wang raised a hand, cutting her off.
"Don’t give me any explanations," Manager Wang said, pointing to the second-hand equipment in the workshop. "I want you to get this junk out of my factory. Now. Immediately. Right away!"
"If it’s not gone by six o’clock tonight, you’ll be in for a world of hurt!" Manager Wang’s voice rose, his tone menacing.
"Oh, is that so?" A cool, detached voice drifted in from the factory entrance. "I’d very much like to see how you’ll make them face a world of hurt."
