From Trash to Treasure: The Sinclair Family's Beloved Genius
Chapter 528: Unable to Withstand a Single Blow
Chapter 528: Chapter 518: Unable to Withstand a Single Blow
The old master’s laboratory was located on a mountain in the suburbs. Chloe Sinclair had to get out of her car after parking it at the foot of the mountain.
Security at the laboratory was tight. Even Chloe Sinclair had to present various forms of identification and pass through eight metal security doors. Only after everything was confirmed to be in order was she allowed inside.
The old master was in high spirits. After dropping her luggage off in her dorm room, she went to the lab and saw him arguing with Landon Sinclair, his face flushed red.
“I’m asking you, how are we supposed to build quantum communication with our current technology? Your idea is good, I won’t deny that. But many of our technological sectors are stagnating, and trying to crack RSA encryption is simply impossible!”
The usually composed Landon Sinclair was also getting agitated. He explained, “We don’t necessarily have to follow the conventional procedures. There might be other methods. Otherwise, we’ll never be able to complete the quantum communication technology.”
The two of them argued for a long time, but they couldn’t reach a conclusion.
Suddenly, they both noticed Chloe Sinclair standing to the side.
They turned their heads and asked in unison, “Chloe, what do you think?”
Chloe: “???”
However, Chloe thought for a moment before speaking. “Actually, RSA encryption is based on the product of two prime numbers.”
The product of two prime numbers might sound like a simple concept, but in reality, even using the TaihuLight supercomputer combined with the world’s most advanced algorithms, it would still take fifty years to crack.
How many people in the world have a mind that can compete with the TaihuLight?
And that’s just for the product of two numbers.
If it were three, four, or five, the resulting figure would be astronomically larger.
The old master’s brow, which had been tightly furrowed, began to relax.
Chloe said, “Actually, Landon and I discussed this at home before. By utilizing Shor’s algorithm, we can build a quantum computer.”
The old master looked puzzled.
Chloe asked him directly, “Grandpa, do you know the characteristics of Shor’s algorithm?”
“It can’t be eavesdropped on, the ciphertext is uncrackable, and it’s absolutely secure!”
The old master recited the answer out of habit, and then his eyes suddenly lit up.
He stared at Chloe in a daze and exclaimed, “How did I not think of that!
Once we build a quantum computer, what the hell is there to be afraid of?!”
Chloe smiled, not thinking that her grandfather’s original line of reasoning was bad.
Zenthia had only been researching quantum communication technology for less than forty years, and for it to now have a place on the world stage was, in her opinion, a remarkable achievement.
Without her grandfather and the tireless pioneers who came before him, today’s technological advancements would have been impossible.
Perhaps no one could have imagined it. Thirty-five years ago, Zenthia was five years into its study of quantum communication technology.
Thirty years ago, it completed a 1.1 km single-mode optical fiber quantum key distribution experiment.
Twenty-five years ago, its quantum communication technology entered a new era, achieving a qualitative leap forward.
A nation that everyone had once dismissed had quietly established its foundation on the world stage.
Five years ago, under the old master’s leadership, the research team completed the establishment of a global wide-area quantum communication network via free-space quantum teleportation.
Now, they were pressing forward once again, on the verge of securing the world’s first and largest-scale quantum communication protection technology—a feat that would benefit not only the people and the military, but the entire nation!
Chloe looked at her grandfather and said with conviction, “We must establish the first quantum communication network. Before a quantum computer, even RSA will be utterly defenseless!”
