Chapter 527: Chapter 517: The Boss’s Quirk
The comment was posted by Gideon Lawson.
He panicked the moment he saw the forum post.
He wasn’t afraid of anything in the world, but right now, his one fear was that Jasper Shaw might be following the school’s online forum.
If Jasper saw it, Gideon wouldn’t even know how to begin to explain himself.
He had indeed taken the computer exam to knock Wyatt Thorne out of first place. But he never expected Wyatt to be so terrible that he ended up ranking somewhere in the teens.
‘A handsome man, at a loss for words.’
It wasn’t until this morning, when he heard his roommate teasing him, that he found out what had happened on the forum. He was so scared he immediately tried to clear things up.
However…
“Just stay out of the shippers’ business.”
“If I say there’s something going on between them, then there’s something going on!”
“The poster above talks as if they’re Gideon Lawson himself. Don’t think I don’t know—Gideon Lawson’s senior-citizen phone can’t even connect to the internet.”
“I actually think Gideon Lawson and Chloe Sinclair are a pretty good match.”
“And another thing…”
In no time, Gideon Lawson’s comment had racked up over thirty replies.
Gideon Lawson felt a headache coming on as he read them.
‘But I *am* him! How else am I supposed to prove it?’
‘And just because I use a senior-citizen phone doesn’t mean I don’t also use a computer!’
‘This handsome guy is speechless…’
Finally, Gideon Lawson deleted his comment and shut his computer, figuring it was better to be out of sight, out of mind.
「Shaw Group」
Jasper Shaw stared at the forum comments, his brow deeply furrowed as his fingers hammered at the keyboard with a furious CLACK-CLACK-CLACK.
Standing a short distance away, Ian Winters felt his heart pound in his chest.
He opened his mouth to speak, but his gaze inadvertently fell upon the computer screen.
The corner of his mouth immediately twitched.
He had been standing behind Jasper Shaw and couldn’t see clearly what he was doing.
It was only after accidentally glancing at the screen that he saw his boss was actually in the middle of an argument with some random people online.
Ian Winters’s jaw dropped.
But after a moment, he decided it wasn’t all that surprising.
‘These online commenters have some real nerve, though.’
‘His boss was the official boyfriend, yet people were constantly trying to ship her with someone else.’
‘Not that he didn’t enjoy the ships himself, of course.’
Ian Winters rubbed the back of his neck. ‘No matter what,’ he thought, ‘I’m on my boss’s side.’
‘Unless the ship is just too good to resist, that is.’
“Ian.”
Jasper Shaw suddenly frowned. He had called Ian’s name several times, but the man hadn’t responded.
Puzzled, he turned his head, only to find his assistant completely zoned out.
His already foul mood soured even further.
So he called out twice more.
Ian finally snapped out of it, stammering in fright, “Wha-what is it?”
‘Oh no, did the boss find out I’m a shipper?’
Jasper Shaw frowned, clearly displeased. “I called you several times. Why didn’t you answer?”
Without a second thought, Ian blurted out, “I was just thinking what is wrong with people online! You and Miss Sinclair are clearly the perfect match, but they just love to ship random pairings. I was just thinking that you and Miss Chloe are the most compatible couple there is, because after all, you…”
Ian was usually mature and composed, but when it came to flattery, he was surprisingly silver-tongued.
He went on praising Jasper for a full fifteen minutes, to the point that even Jasper himself began to wonder if he was truly that amazing.
When Ian finally finished, he saw Jasper’s dark eyes still fixed on him.
Ian swallowed nervously and shut his mouth.
Jasper asked, “You’re done?”
“Huh?”
Ian grew even more tense.
“That was pretty good. Keep going.”
Ian: “…”
But alas, the salary Jasper paid was too high to refuse. Ian proceeded to use every complimentary idiom and phrase he had ever learned in his entire life.
‘His boss sure is narcissistic,’ he thought.
Meanwhile, Chloe Sinclair packed a few changes of clothes, got into her little pink Beetle, and drove out toward the edge of the city.
