Four Split Personalities
Chapter 2928 - 1389: Q&A
"Chenchen! Look at this, a rabbit that changes color!"
"Ooh, it’s so fluffy and cute!"
"Right, right, super fluffy!"
"Xiao... ah, Little Night Song, aren’t the goggles too tight on your hair? There’s a Mudkaqiu hair clip here."
"Actually, it’s fine once you get used to it... I’ll take this hair clip!"
"I’ll buy it for you!"
"Hehe, no need, my last business deal went well, Master Guna gave me lots of pocket money! By the way, Chenchen, do you get a salary being the Saintess of that sect?"
"Nope, but Sister Xia Lian gave me lots of pocket money before we set off!"
"That’s great, should we try that soft, jelly-like dessert?"
"I want to eat it! I’ll have the creamy white one!"
"Let me see, let me see, this seems to be fresh milk flavor, Chenchen, do you need more dairy products..."
"You’re so annoying!"
"Hehe, just joking, hey! You two at the back, do you want to eat or not?!"
The lively winged girl turned around and waved at Jiawen and Motan while bouncing around, cheerfully calling out: "We can treat you!"
"Uh..."
Jiawen was momentarily stunned by the sudden shift of topic to them, then flashed a silly grin at Ji Xiaoge and lightly shook her head: "I’ll pass, you guys eat."
Next to her, Motan had a similar reaction, cheerfully waving his hand: "I came after dinner, then had breakfast seamlessly, remember?"
"Tch, just say you don’t want to shop with us!"
Ji Xiaoge pouted, then took a spoon and carved out a mouthful of creamy Slime (brand name, not a real slime creature) in Yu Chen’s hands, her face full of bliss as she tucked it into her mouth: "Delicious! Chenchen, try this one that I have, open—"
Having frequently had similar interactions with her girlfriends, plus Ji Xiaoge’s absolutely MAX level of friendliness, Yu Chen didn’t feel awkward and naturally opened her small mouth to let Ji Xiaoge feed her a bite, then nodded vigorously with a smile: "Yege, your pink one is also so tasty!"
"Right!"
"It is~"
"Ah, there’s a juice shop ahead, are you thirsty?"
"Not thirsty, but I want a drink!"
"Let’s go!"
Just like that, even though their constitution attribute wasn’t particularly high, the two girls were inexplicably energetic, quickly dashing tens of meters forward, with seemingly unlimited physical strength value.
Motan chuckled twice awkwardly, shaking his head: "Do girls get some sort of buff while shopping? I haven’t seen these two take a break at all on this trip..."
[You’re too naive. Last time I went shopping for clothes in Paris with Ah Qing, it exhausted two groups of bodyguards. You’re already lucky enough since they aren’t letting you spend any money, have your own storage bag without needing you to carry anything, just simply tag along – it couldn’t be easier... Seriously, I feel like joining in...]
Secretly deciding to find an opportunity to go shopping with Ah Qing later, Jiawen didn’t express her true thoughts, just shrugged her shoulders and smiled at Motan with a hint of polite distance.
One must know that Cole Shuren, no matter dealing with ’Hei Fan’ or ’Mor’, wasn’t particularly familiar, so appearing overly close and eager would actually be detrimental, and from Jiawen’s standpoint, less said means less errors now, so unless necessary, she keeps her participation to a minimum.
Motan, fully aware of the fact that the other was indeed ’Cole’, seemed to enjoy it that way, constantly maintaining the pace when everyone gathered to talk, striving to prevent Jiawen’s situation from becoming too uncomfortable – a seamless coordination between them whether this time or the last, with the fact that ’Cole Shuren’ was a fake aside.
In short, the four continued shopping and buying their way along, with most of the antics led by Yu Chen and Ji Xiaoge, occasionally pulling Jiawen and Motan into trying or tasting things, for instance ’Black Vatican Priest’ was bestowed a carefully chosen little quail crest sticker by Ji Xiaoge, while ’Mor’ was forcibly fed more than half a skewer of grilled squid by the winged girl since she found it too spicy to handle herself.
However, throughout this process, Jiawen still discovered some subtle sense of discord...
The source of this discord was none other than the Saintess Morning Forgotten Language.
The reason was simple; Jiawen just felt her impression today was different from their last encounter.
Though she would show her sweet smile just like before, though she might eagerly run over with little trinkets mimicking Yege to seek advice and opinions, Jiawen could vaguely sense an inexplicable detachment behind these actions.
Not physical distance but a detachment on another level.
A reasonable guess would be that some subtle issue might have surfaced between Her Highness the Saintess and ’Black Vatican Priest’ during this period; however, instinct told Jiawen that this might not be the truth.
The other almost implausible and baseless speculation might be that Her Highness the Saintess has noticed something amiss, such as discreetly messaging ’Hei Fan’ but receiving no reply, or possibly discerning issues neither Jiawen nor Cole could perceive...
