Chapter 2918: Edon's Hymn _2

In this way, the Bard left, leaving the pitiful Adon standing foolishly at the village entrance.

For a country boy who had never seen the world, the impact of this story on him was self-evident, so at that moment, the naïve and kindhearted Adon felt as if the sky was falling, being disoriented all day long.

Until nightfall, when Adon could no longer resist sleepiness and fell onto his bed, an anticipated and reasonable thing happened—he dreamed.

As the saying goes, thoughts during the day bring dreams at night. For a simple-minded child, it’s easy to dream when emotions surge intensely. Naturally, the theme of his dream was the story that the Bard had left unfinished.

Even though the ending was abrupt and the tale perfunctory, the petty poet was actually quite talented in literature; after all, he used just a few phrases to vividly describe how the Warrior was defeated and tormented by the Demon Lord, making one feel as if they were there.

As a result, in the dream, after hearing such an easily envisionable story, Adon indeed subconsciously constructed the scene described by the Bard.

A floating city in the sky, towering and magnificent, adorned with blood-stained skulls.

A Warrior with a steadfast face, handsome and elegant, gaze like lightning, wearing splendid armour.

A Demon Lord eight feet tall, waist eight feet, wingspan eight feet, and even had eight-foot-long fangs.

A Princess with stunning beauty, fair skin, gentle and kind, always leaning at the window.

And as for Adon himself, he seemed like a ghost from a different space, able only to hear and see, unable to interfere in this transparent dream.

The dream’s development, needless to say…

Since all the scenes and characters in the dream perfectly replicated the unfinished story told by the Bard, the plot’s direction naturally couldn’t be changed by Adon’s will.

Thus, he could only watch helplessly as the Demon Lord, whose attributes were mostly ‘eight feet,’ overwhelmed the Warrior in combat, eventually brutally killing him at the city gate.

According to most dream patterns, when that eight-foot Demon Lord killed the Warrior and let out a rampant laugh, Adon’s dream should have ended then, and the boy, who had begun to see the dangers of the human world, would wake with a start, have a good cry, and then become a diligent farmer in his current environment, buried in the ground in decades, as is proper.

However, Adon in this story did not wake up but instead, driven by intense emotions, broke through the ‘Observer’s constraint’ and engaged in this theoretically concluded story.

And his way of engaging was being grabbed into the room by the Princess, who had been leaning on the window throughout, while floating in mid-air.

Do not ask why the Princess could directly see the ghostly Adon figure and even use a technique like fetching things from afar to drag him into the room, just know that stories don’t need to be taken too seriously.

In summary, the world line changed from that moment.

We all know that being a middle-schooler is an important phase in life, and although the author of “Edon’s Hymn” might not have known this term, he as a former teenager somewhat understood this aspect, so under his pen, Adon’s desire to become a Hero influenced his dream, and then he was entrusted by the Princess.

Although the Princess’s request is described in detail over fifteen pages within the story, to summarize briefly, it’s—’Future Warrior, please rescue me, take me out of this place, and then let’s live a happy life together!’

Then Adon believed it; when he woke up, his heart was filled with a strong sense of duty. In the eyes of a teenager, although his ‘predecessor’ had fallen, since the Princess hadn’t given up hope and chose him, he as the ‘future Warrior’ had no reason to sit idly.

Then, the kid became obsessed with physical training, using the method he envisioned to strive towards becoming a qualified Warrior.

Given that he was just a child, usually didn’t engage in farm work, and his parents didn’t mind, and other children didn’t particularly like playing with the silly Adon, his daydream was never shattered.

A year later, after daily jogging, sit-ups, chopping wood, kicking trees, and hitting stakes, Adon inexplicably awakened his fighting spirit, reaching the middle rank in the Realm of Innocence’s world view, and punched the well in the village center flat.

The villagers were terrified, and perhaps feeling it absurd for the protagonist to have parents, the author directly scared Adon’s parents to death.

Thus, Adon obtained two invincible buffs simultaneously, ‘Extraordinary Talent’ and ‘Parents Both Deceased.’

Skipping some baffling descriptions, after that, Adon spent ten years becoming a Legendary Rank strongman from the countryside, and then, having left the village behind, he embarked on a series of pretend-pig-eat-tiger and invincible iron head adventures.

He eradicated demon beasts, he rescued villages, he defeated arrogant Knights, he defeated scoundrels and hooligans, he defeated spoiled heirs, he defeated family heirs, he defeated long-famous experts, he defeated local Demons, he defeated plotting Kings, he defeated creepy Witches, and even finally defeated Dragons.

In summary, Adon became the embodiment of invincibility.

Yet he was not happy, despite having countless fans, being treated as a guest of honour by numerous countries, and being renowned across the continent, with even Dragons trembling before him, he was still unhappy.

Because his dream was to save the Princess trapped in the Demon Lord’s castle, and the one he most wanted to defeat was that eight-foot Demon Lord.

Adon asked everyone about the Demon Lord and the Princess but never found any serious clues.

Of course, because it was just a story.

And in the end, when the almost deranged Adon was about to extinguish kingdoms in search of the Princess, an elderly Bard appeared before him, giving him a book.

Adon asked, what is this?

The old man told him, this is what you desire.

Adon asked, I want to defeat the Demon Lord and rescue the Princess.

The old man told him, the Demon Lord and the Princess are both in your hands.

Adon was confused.

The old man added, I am the one who composed that broken story for you back then, and what you pursue only exists within the story, and you, living in reality, cannot defeat a Demon Lord that only exists in the story, nor rescue a Princess from the story.

Adon was silent for a long time, then asked, so who can rescue the Princess in the story?

The old man said, the Warrior in the story.

Adon questioned again, didn’t the Warrior in the story die?

The old man replied, that’s why it’s a tragedy.

Adon chuckled and finally asked, so what of me?

The old man said, you are also a tragedy.

The story ended calmly like this.

…

“This was a story almost destroying Knight literature like ‘Don Quixote,’ having a significant influence for twenty-four whole centuries between Holy Calendar year 4300 and 6700.”

Accompanied by a cold, melodious voice, a slim, fair hand reached from aside, taking the ‘Edon’s Hymn’ from Mo’s hand, and the Dark Elf with ruby-like brilliant eyes chuckled softly, saying, “I didn’t expect you would be interested in such things.”

Mo looked at her indifferently, dismissively said, “It’s somewhat interesting.”

“Oh?”

Not expecting an answer, Ji Xiaodao was slightly surprised, then curiously asked, “Where is the interest?”

“Demon Lord.”

“Pfft… Is it because its height, waist, and even fangs are all eight feet?”

“Perhaps.”

“What kind of answer is that…”

“Go call Dora Hika, I want to see her.”
